Everything You Need to Know Before Shen Yun Goes on Tour (2024)

Hey, welcome back. We're the 2 Musketeers. And we're going to answer your most asked questions about the 2024 Shen Yun performance. We're preparing for the 2024 season and it's really tiring. Both of us are really tired. We've had some long rehearsals. But we think the pieces are going to be super exciting and we're really excited to show you guys eventually when we're performing for you guys. And now, Will, what are we going to do? We're going to answer our first question. Is Jisung still a Musketeer? Hello, long time no see. Welcome back, Jisung. He has no mic. Hope you heard that. Welcome back, Jisung. Where have you been? What have you been up to? I mean, there's some business that I need to take care of. Yes, nice, nice. But I'm back. Yeah, I'm so happy to see you guys again. Do you guys miss me? Yes. Honestly, I can tell from your expression, I can tell that you guys really miss me. I think the fans miss you more though. I miss you guys too. Nice updated wardrobe. I noticed since coming back, Jisung. So awkward. Awkward. This is how close we are. I like it. Keep it. This is how close we are. It's good. I'm very positive for that. Because every year, Jaemin goes to Korea. But there's always like, there's some interference by CCP. I think this time as well. But I think they're trying their best to get the theater. Because like, CCP give the like, kind of pressures to the like, different theaters and governors. That's like, don't let Jaemin come and stuff. And I remember actually when I was like, around 12 years old. Like I was about to watch the show. But it was like, canceled. I'm like, what? But I think they made it back at the end. So. One of my first like years performing in Korea, they tried to cancel our performance. And they actually did cancel it. And we were just waiting in the hotel. It was like a very, very sad day. And then we went to perform in Taiwan, I believe. And then after Taiwan, we went back to Korea. And we got to perform again. They managed to work it out. So it was a really, really amazing show. But I believe that this time they're gonna make it for sure. Let's go Korea. Let's go. Freedom! Will Shin Yoon come to Vietnam in near future? I'm really looking forward to seeing Shin Yoon perform in Vietnam. In 2015, I believe we were about to go to Vietnam to perform. But again, because of CCP interference, we weren't able to perform there. And I think it's because they're giving a lot of pressure to the government. And they have a lot of like, I guess, monetary incentives. People do business with China. So I think there's a lot of pressure like on that end. Actually, it was in 2017. 2017? Yeah. Okay. I remember clearly because my family bought flight tickets and you know, the show tickets. And it was cancelled. So sad. That's sad. So we're really hoping to perform in Vietnam soon. Hi, is it possible to give you guys gifts before and after the show? Thank you for this question, actually. And we would really like to receive your presents. But our schedule is so tight sometimes. We don't even have enough time to rest. So we don't really have time to like, loiter around the hotel afterwards. Sorry, loiter around the theater afterwards. So we can't receive your presents. The answer is no. I'm sorry. Oh, no. Okay. I would like that present though. This is from Eric Lam, Dave Hamilton. How do you all... Wait, the grammar is wrong. But how often do you guys have to rehearse while on tour? We usually rehearse a little bit on tour after we have a few days off. For example, we travel to a new city. And we might have a few days to look around and have some fun in that city. But before we perform, we might want to have some rehearsals just to get prepared for a show. What are the things that excites you guys in the 2024 shows? We can't really tell you exactly what happens in the show because it's a secret and we're going to perform. You have to come watch to see that. But I can tell you that every year we have all new programs. So what excites me is actually dancing a whole new set of pieces every single year. So I'm always on my toes, you know. It never gets old for me. I'm always trying to remember the new pieces. So come watch our new pieces. Do you get afraid of traveling sometimes? All right. If I had to say, honestly, traveling seems really, really fun. And you get to go on vacation and tour. And like, that's what it feels like. But there's both sides to that coin. It's also very, very tiring to travel. Let's say you have to fly to Asia. It's gonna be a long 15-hour flight to go to Taiwan. And then you have to perform. That traveling part is actually pretty tiring. But once you get there, once you arrive at your destination, it's pretty good. Will, could you please tell us about your experience acting in Once We Were Divine? We filmed that movie while we were on our vacation after tour. So we were trying to, like, enjoy and relax. But we were also memorizing our script. And let me tell you, that script is really hard to memorize because it was in Chinese. Some of the lines I actually said in English, and it's dubbed afterwards. Unfortunately, my biggest regret is that my lip didn't match up when it's dubbed. Because I'm speaking English and the dub is in Chinese. Next time, if I ever have to film again, I will do better to memorize my script. Can I say something? I think it's pretty funny. You know, it's like, I remember last time you were so stressed that like, I'm not gonna make the movie again. Yeah, that's just stress talking. I have a question mark. Where does that store... Okay, so this store... Can you tell me something about it? This store is located in Middletown, New York. It's called New Middletown. And it's just... It's newly opened, and there's a lot of cool stuff. What do they sell? New Middletown is basically a big department store. And there are Shining Things in it, like Shining Shop stuff in it. But mainly, it's a huge department store. Okay. And my parents went, and they really liked it. On tour, do you prefer finding and trying new local foods or sticking to the foods and cuisines you're more familiar with? All right, this is an easy answer for me. I'm definitely going to go for the local foods. What is the point of traveling if you don't try the food? That's the whole point of traveling. That's why I travel. What happens if the local food is very disgusting? No, you still gotta try it. Even if it's scary or something you're not familiar with. Even if it's durian, which you don't like, which I don't like, I'll have to try it if I travel. Like fried worms. Fried worms. See? But usually, there's a lot of variety in local food. So you go to Japan, there's ramen, there's udon, there's katsu. You can choose something that you like. You don't have to go for the fried worms. All right? Good answer. What is your biggest fear and how do you overcome rejection in life? What is your biggest fear? Compromising my value in the face of difficulty. Okay, next. That's deep. Okay, so I've been trying something new this year. I haven't been eating after dinner. I've been drinking apple cider vinegar. Put it in some water to dilute it because it's congen straight. Speak clearly, Sam. Oh, it smells really bad. Oh, okay, that's sour. In the morning and at night, and I think I lost 10 pounds. Almost 10 pounds. Like 8 pounds, yeah. Right now, maybe not 8 pounds. How long though? It took like two, three months. I lost 8 pounds. And I'm actually keeping it right now. So I think it works. So just don't eat after dinner, don't eat breakfast, and drink apple cider vinegar. It's worked for me. What hobbies do you have when you aren't dancing? On my day offs, I just like to eat good food, that's it. I'm a simple man. Oh, gosh. Same, but plus reading books and walking a bit. Oh, nice. I like to drive, enjoy a drive, and just relax. Eating good food is the best part. It's actually pretty good. It's pretty good. With radish. Time to try some mushrooms. I've never had such good mushrooms. Wow. I like tofu better. It's so flavorful and it's like so juicy, dude. So my hobby is, just like you guys, liking to eat more food. But I also like to take... No, I don't like to take photos anymore. You like to eat steak, Sam. Sam likes to eat steak. Every week, he's eating steak and barbecuing. He's a barbecue expert now, from what I know. Not really.
