Hello to you,
in the series of lectures on major Hindi stories and Indian society readers, today I
will discuss with you a new story of this era, the story of Badboo by the very famous story writer Shekhar Joshi
that Shekhar Joshi has told on his As much as he is a story
writer, he has
also been a powerful story writer,
his decency has been his strength, along with bad
smell, he has
also written powerful and famous stories like Kosi ka Ghatwar and Daju in
which Pahad ki Pursukoon
hai but My purpose behind the selection of the stink story and
talking to you about the stink story is
a different sad one
because
it is a new story amidst the new story movement and the tragic situation
of laborers working in jog industries
story. It is the
factory that makes the paint
and the kerosene oil that is used to remove the paint,
how
amidst the dirty machines,
a person gradually becomes free from his own smell.
I want to tell the story of 'There is a stench in it,
money that stinks can do this, but the
book stinks, it is a very cultural work. In
this whole
story, the stench is related to life at a very
deep level. If there is no stench in life, then there is no
life. There is no activity in
that Tata means that the existence of that means
that the realization of human power is
natural. It is a different thing that the bride's house is
naturally low in smell. It is a wrong
thing but
in industries.
Their becoming victims of exploitation while working, sudden
disappearance of smell,
complete loss of sensibility and
loss of boldness, this is the
central feature of this story
and hence one of the things that is truly inexhaustible in this story
is In fact, it is concerned only with saving the stench
and again and again the
narrator tells that the
disappearance of stench in life means the
disappearance of the voice against the system of exploitation, there will be no voice, that is, there
will be no voice of sharp protest.
So this story which stinks is based on this and within this, it
also
subscribes to the creation of its characters, there is a character of the story himself
who is the narrator
and the writers who work in the factory itself. If the
person is a laborer, he works in this factory
and if he works in the factory, it is for the
first time and he has not been working for much
time, it has been only three-four months, but he is
a bit resistant and a
protestant, he is against the conditions of the workers. He
wants a change and therefore fights with the factory things due to
his religion, then the story
starts, it shows that when he
repeatedly rubs the print with his hands and
does it for years and even then the smell does not go away,
then a The character who is a grasshopper
says interestingly that soap will not remove its smell, apply
kerosene or apply dandruff, your
health will go away
and says that when tuition should be given,
the one who talks about getting rid of it gets upset,
I say that It smells very bad,
what should I do, don't worry, while working, you will
also get used to this smell, you will also get used to it, that is, by
putting the working class in a particular situation
and putting them in the industries,
gradually the smell will start to come. The glass of his life will not go away.
Whatever ends of his life,
this story starts with this hint, I
want to do this and then he
enters and tells an incident, saying that he
is a very interesting person and he has a great interest in it.
Interestingly, the storyteller has recorded
that now he says that a village
Jamadar had a daughter and when she went to the city,
she used to smell very bad. As if the matter was lost then as soon
as the Jamadar went to the city after marriage in the family, Had to do it
and while working as a
janitor,
she has
come to meet everyone,
so now you are free from her hand, your hand is giving a beating,
your hand is smelling very bad,
so girl, never mind that I am a fool. It
is not only unannounced but by doing this he
increases the whole thing with laughter. So this
is the situation that the author wants to tell that the
stench that is felt in open life situations, living
a monotonous life, this kind of life
stinks i.e. What does the stench do here?
Values are realized. Now ginger means
aspiration for some kind of change. The desire for joy vanishes
and in this way you will see that this
story slowly moves forward. And at the
end the storyteller gathers some laborers
and the narrator and he
talks about improving their condition.
Then you will know how this story
reflects the 15 living conditions
and
how it
powerfully portrays the inhuman condition of the workers inside the factory because the narrator of this story
is a laborer himself. It
also becomes clear to the narrator that he makes a lot of efforts to save himself that the
absence of smell actually means that the pace of life has
ended. In fact, this story
is a kind of descriptive story in which the context of
smell is the context of life. There is
and as long as the smell remains, there will
be life. This is also the basic message of the story. Between the
arrival of the smell and the departure of the smell, this
entire story actually becomes the story
of the tragedy of the working class being crushed within the capitalist system. It is
worth noting
that Shekhar Joshi
appears in this story as a creator who instills faith in life in the lower class. Here
he appears as the creator of Jagat Vivek
that his characters constantly try to face the crises.
And the protagonist
struggles and clashes with the system along with his colleagues
but he does not get the expected support, that is,
Shekhar Joshi has also tried to
call for struggle against water conditions in the story,
although in a way it has been a failed
attempt. This is also the basic message of the
second mistake of this story which is the content of the plot. The
message is that there is
no need to get worried. Gradually one gets
used to everything.
I, the narrator, oppose this habituation in the story.
In its story, who ultimately does
not get any kind of support from his co-religionists,
he
directly
confronts everyone and opposes them in order to change the conditions of torture of the workers, but
he does not get much success in this protest. In
this Chief Sahib threatens him in many ways and
after a situation, he is sent to the Ka stand.
In this story, he is transferred
to the Ka stand, which in a way
is not the same as the
work of Karthik Tank at this time. It was a
very big tree work but whatever he got he
got as a punishment because he was constantly anxious to
improve the condition of the workers to strengthen it. The
workers
explained to him that if you apologize to him for things and conflicts and go
home then everything will improve. Play
but despite this the narrator struggles.
This story actually
gives a feeling of solidarity between the narrator and the workers but for him it was
a juice, he doesn't get it, he also collides with things
but he gets blind punishment.
He goes ahead and talks a few things but does
not get the expected cooperation from the workers like Hariram who are with him,
rather what happens is that people like Hariram
come to his meeting only to
meet the boss. If they meet after meeting and the owners are able to
convey the complete information of that meeting,
then what has been said in the story in this way
repeatedly
hurts in a systematic manner that the
workers of the factory are also
very much filled with mutual jealousy and pain. He is troubled that he
lacks the voice of collectivism. The
narrator constantly tries to maintain
collectivism so that there is pressure on the owners
not to exploit them, but the owners
know that
exploitation is very easy when the working class is divided. And
look at this, the content of that socialized story
is visible, that and the voice of the common man, the
sound of sirens, factories and lights,
it is very dangerous and this year the
author has caught the voice of what it
is, that there But duty is imposed with the sound of siren.
That siren is a
symbol of exploitation in this story and in life too,
like suppose the eighth day's essence has been imposed,
now the laborers have to come, now a year has been saved.
If the laborer's bicycle gets punctured, someone else's bicycle gets punctured. Has
he ever got the resources for 1 or 2 minutes?
If an accident happens, then at least give him entry, but his money is deducted
and the money is like this, but this owner
of the factory is
not in the mood to give continuously. Rather, he is
in a mood to reduce.
This is the whole nature of the capitalist system, just to make an excuse to reduce it. This is its nature. The capitalist system is
in a mood to give the workers to the workers. If your salary is fixed, then it
will try how to cut or
increase. He never worries about it. This
story records this inequality and
wants to fight for it, which
in the end becomes completely alone and it is in the sound of sirens
that sees the system of exploitation developing.
And in which at the end of the month, when
a laborer's wife reaches home, how much
money does the hospital money cost me, this time the
sound of the siren, the account got delayed due to some reason,
so it is very poignant, so that along with this, his
wife says that Babua's sweater. This time
too, it remained as if the
basic needs of life were being fulfilled in the same way
that if the cut in civil salary was
of Rs 2 or even Rs 4,
then one could sleep at that time.
How much was ₹ 2 worth on all fours to him,
in the sixties or immediately after independence, the
kind of situation, the sound of the siren, the
structure of the capitalist system, the management
of workers by the heads of factories. This is the exploitation, this is what
is completely engaged in the plot of this story and
this is what the author wants to show its presence again and again. The
author has commented
and in the narrator's form the comment
is very funny. He says
how many of the people have died. This time also the cap of Acacia will
remain, that is, the laborers who will stay only for a week,
what changes will they make in the system? This
sentence is very sister which means that those who
do not want to struggle, they
cannot even fulfill the happiness of their children.
An old man
explains to him why he should not clash with the boss unnecessarily
but he does not say anything. He is
repeatedly advised that he
should behave like a servant in his job, but he
disagrees with this and gradually a situation
arises. That the narrator Shegaon, who initially
develops only as a character,
gradually starts working mechanically and the
circumstances of the environment
force him to work mechanically, now he starts getting
tired even in lifting some things. There is
no problem, it has been only
three-four months since he got the job in Jaipur,
but by the end he starts getting used to the brown soil
as well and he does
not have any problem, the narrator who
does not get below the soap, he slowly
imitates above. Remains in the hands and suddenly one
day when he dries you he does not smell
and he gets disturbed by hearing the sound of grass.
He feels that his condition has become
like that of Jhansi who has become accustomed to this smell
but very When he gathers courage and
again brings his hands closer to dry, there is a
bad smell
that the narrator says in the Pandit that he had
become Brahma, in fact the smell of kerosene oil was still
coming. The plot of the story ends here
and from this it becomes clear. That while
living in a normal situation, a man is
deprived of his struggle to a great extent,
that now as far as the environment of the story is concerned,
I have put before you the contents of this
and you know that the environment of this story is
that There is an environment inside the factory
where there is a lot of rattling noise,
now nothing can be heard from each other, there is
no room for sympathy,
when the workers come to the factory, there
is a siren on one side, which comes from the shoulder, they talk to each other.
Checking is also done in a very dirty
manner by the laborers, which the
author has portrayed as a deplorable environment. They
gnaw on the boxes to
see if they can go back with anything. When they
come back, they make their
general comment. When the gram is kept,
then three of them are completely opened and
checked thoroughly. Okay,
hmmm, that's right. Not only this, when the
workers of that factory come out of the gate, they
keep a high beam of bamboo there.
And the laborers have to go to those bamboo poles on their own. The
narrator is very upset. He is already
familiar with this entire torturous environment. When he is
introduced again, he asks, "Brother,
what is this? After all, we
are their employees, everything is fine." Everything is there,
but in the end, when I check the financial service, the
number of hassles is reduced, that you are making
this jump and jump
from other items, it becomes clear that friend, you
don't know that this Amit has wounds. That while
coming out of the last gate, those who are flying high, they
check through the bounce that is being made that if
something is kept in the bag in the swing and is taken high, it will fall,
so now tell me how much
in an environment full of mutual trust. This story was created
that your laborers are
doing your work, you get them
chatting with the guards everywhere and in the end,
while leaving them like animals, they are virgins
or you are getting them [ __ ] and within that
you have the belief that It is certain that if this theft
is committed,
some thing or the other will fall out of the bag. This is more the
imagination of the writer, but it is a reality
that many factory owners
have been exploiting the workers in the same manner. You can see this in this way.
That this is the environment of the story, it is an
environment connected to the center of exploitation of the factory and this is also the basic
concern of this story. The environment of this story is also
of a paint manufacturing factory, where young people will take the
goods and wash the old paint with caustic soda.
Which is very inspiring,
in this way the
diva of bread is shown being opened while going out, it is
very heart-wrenching and it
gives rise to the picture of exploitation. As I told you,
this year his deepening voice has helped the
employees here a lot. It is mischievous which
gives a sense of a kind of mechanized environment
in which there is no possibility of resistance. It is
within this environment that the character
develops and it is this story that
also becomes the special feature of the character
which is more about the characters. So the
protagonist character himself is a character
of a laborer struggling in the life of a factory or a factory
and where as an open writer, the writer, while
working as a factory employee,
experiences breathing in the open air for the first time when he comes out of the factory. It happens that they do
not work in the factory for a very long time and
they get only three to four months,
but due to their insistence on saving the stench, they constantly
come in the way and finally they save the stench,
when Jhansi tells them that
gradually they will be allowed to do so. Rochelle's business will also get used to him,
he gets upset and finally
one day he stops smelling, then
he feels that he has achieved the status of Agassi
for which he
was not ready, so you will see in this way. In the
story, the character Kaaju
opposes the reading of everything as a habit because he feels that it is
this habit of the people that has
destroyed the possibilities of change. In this form,
he also opposes the wrongdoing when
Cheez Saheb gives beedi to Budhan. When a
fine of ₹ 1 is given for the crime of burning, he himself
opposes the thing that he himself
burns a cigarette in the factory, he also gets punishment for this
but he courageously
requests an account of people's fatigue and holidays. The
narrator appears to be fulfilling his social and moral responsibilities
well
and for this he forms an organization with some laborers.
No laborer comes with him
except Hariram and he
is also present there as the head of the owner.
From this, the protagonist himself has made it clear in the story
that if you look at the
entire content of this story, the
environment or the
character, he
also goes through difficult situations, the
first thing is that he has the desire to
save himself. The struggle one goes through is
that the grass only wants to defy the establishment
that by living in a
questionable situation in this situation,
you too will fall prey to the habit of that smell
and you will stop smelling,
but to save this thing I do this to
save the darkness
and on the other hand, the storyteller
wants that the workers' collective should be preserved
so that pressure can be put on the owners to fight for their rights
so that the entire Amavasya does not have to be punished
but in that he Fails and
uses it. On the other hand, his friend is
given half of the money to impersonate someone else
by the owner on the charge that there is a
possibility of fire in the factory due to burning of beedis. No problem, it
is a good thing, otherwise it should be done again quickly.
The owner is persistent. For someone who lights a cigarette and smokes, the
manager is the head of the factory
because it is the hour, so should there be
two standards of punishment, no less, if he
opposes two standards of punishment, now let us
know something that his transfer takes place at the stand
which It is very painful but
he also accepts it and thirdly, the
narrator struggles and opposes everything and
finally becomes silent but as
soon as he
senses the smell of Jai Hind again,
he comes out of the factory. He
roams in the open air and feels that perhaps he has
succeeded in saving his life, that is, the
content of this story is
that after all he is not concerned only with smell or bad smell,
hair is related to the speed of life. It
is from his life, it is from his vibration
that as long as it continues to come, the
vibration within him will also remain, he will have
mental strength,
that he will remain constantly clean, that is, the
existence of changes is the existence of a thinking man. To
be a citizen who dreams of a healthy society
or to be a struggling
social person and the author creates this story taking into account all these
issues and all these life
situations,
hence this story
is sometimes the
autobiography of the author. It also becomes a victim of violence
because its narrator himself has written it. The values that this story
conveys,
like the concern it shows for the
factory workers
and their rights, are very valuable
that the new generation like you,
who are working in the corporate sector, It is a
thing of the times when there is
no difference between market and technology
that this story will always remind him
that mode on life
is very dangerous for the common man, hence it is
important to preserve that resistance within ourselves today. If we
remain a little distant from life, then maybe you and I will be
able to save ourselves from our bad smell and if the
bride remains, then our life and your life
as well as the pace of life will remain constant.
You have read this lecture. Listen to, thank you very much
