The Chosen Book Of Mormon?

you will have no choice but to follow them [Applause] okay we gotta talk everyone at Andres I was not intending to do this episode but I have to respond now uh because well it's this thing is just building in controversy and I did tune into uh I checked Facebook for Dallas Jenkins um the night before I'm recording this and he said what some of the posts actually just riled me up because like um dude you're doubling down on this see when season the season three trailer debuted about a week ago and it's like finally something and it's all the First episodes are going to be in the theater awesome that's great Christian content being made unfortunately this this clip highlights the disconnect that Dallas Jenkins apparently seems to happen what he just did it's like this line sounds great in the trailer I'm gonna clip it out like yeah Jesus turned the Pharisees off I am the law of Moses and then the aftermath did you quote The Book of Mormon that's one of the issues I first had with uh The Chosen way back when this thing was being um developed I've actually covered this before uh in my episode responding to The Wretched Todd Frio who I find myself more in agreement with his assessment uh but not entirely all the way I recommend you check this out uh should Christians be watching the chosen for Biblical teaching entertainment I published it on August 22nd available also on YouTube um the podcast and all that so you can check it out so I was addressing some of the points that top real was bringing up uh while making uh some of my own but one of the early early on issues for why I didn't jump on the chosen immediately was because Dallas Jenkins I it's it's the promo post that he put up to fundraise on Kickstarter um I couldn't find the post uh I'm sure it's there somewhere where he was talking about how he didn't like uh or or had issues with previous adaptations of the time of Christ because British accents or as I interpreted from him saying too many white folks and so he wanted to make something more diverse and you see it in in the casting I don't care it's a it's a middle eastern um setting with an international presence so of course all peoples were crossing through there so I had no issues with that but because of the day and age that we live in when someone uses those kind of terminologies you're thinking is this thing woke so I had at first my issues with Dallas Jenkins because that's out of the gate I already have my Shields up it's like dude I don't know what you're doing with this so it was after season two had broadcast sometime after that is when I tuned into the chosen to them with the wife that person like okay I think it's okay and then it just started growing I mean like wow this is actually really really well done I felt that at first he's respecting the the material he's just varying from which is the Holy Scripture sacred text um but then I started seeing some cracks in certain things when I saw Dallas Jenkins in some in a live stream and I actually put that on on my previous post with respect to the chosen where he was in agreement uh like we worshiped the same Jesus when he's talking to the Mormons that are involved in this I don't know if the producer showman or whatever it is I'm like uh no we do not worship the same Christ so now we have this this clip is uh something that uh Dallas Jenkins posted to the um well someone posted to whoever runs the chosen TV series Instagram and it's this right here Tuesday night 8 30 big live stream you're not going to want to miss it we've got a new trailer for you yes a new one that you haven't seen before that's focused on episodes one and two because that's what's being released in theaters and that's we're going to be doing that night we're going to be talking about all your frequently asked questions including a couple of complaints about the theatrical release and by the way did I quote from The Book of Mormon we'll talk about that Tuesday night now all right I'm gonna close it there it goes on just to say hey come and check it out did I go up in a book of Mormon he doubled down on it on on Facebook uh the night before this clip he put it up was an hour before I started rolling in the in the Facebook post um he was uh reposting a tick tock video or someone criticizing The Chosen saying that it has like a there's a conspiracy behind it you know it's uh um it's in bad faith well he responded to it like they're on to me um or they're on to something like that but he used the hashtag I am the law of Moses like Ugh okay now this video here has 1637 comments this is the initial clip of that they clipped off in the trailer I am the law of Moses so here's the screen grab of the one of the comments that was put on the thread there where it says quote in the Book of Mormon heretical question mark and this is what the whoever runs the channel uh or the the account for the chosen TV series how to say Jesus does not say he's the law of Moses in the Book of Mormon which Dallas hasn't read nor does he use those exact words in scripture like most things he said on the show at least they acknowledge that but either way Dallas wrote the line for two reasons one he thought it was really cool and the kind of thing Jesus could say in response and two it's theoretically plausible he's the word he's the Creator he's the law okay a lot a lot there and I'm responding to to this thing right there because and he he better respond to that tomorrow because yours truly has the Book of Mormon another Testament to Jesus Christ and I'm going to be reading from uh the third book of Nephi any Phi I'll pronounce that right I'm not Mormon so I don't know how to pronounce it chapter 15 verses 8 and 9. for Behold The Covenant which I have made with my people is not all fulfilled but the law which was given unto Moses hath an end in me behold I am the law and the light look unto me and endure to the end and ye shall live for unto him that endure to the end will I give eternal life um Jesus did not say he's the law of Moses in the Book of Mormon says the channel they admitted to not having read this thing and they're talking to Mormons so how did it come to this conclusion so oh there's a theological Council that they read this by and they're like oh yeah I guess they are theoretically possible look it sounds great in the trailer don't get me wrong that's also the problem this is this for entertainment or is this for theology the problem is that now as so many people following this and here's the thing uh about the thread here and this not just here other places where this is posted there are so many people that are loving this line and apparently these guys love the line so much that they clicked that I made its own clip and they were like oh my gosh what a lie that's awesome yeah tell it to the tour of the Pharisees Jesus like um now you're making hypothetical situations that you know you weren't present for and you're putting more words into Christ's mouth that have even more of an impact than the previous ones that you put for all the script that you made up that isn't in the gospel yeah you become responsible for it you're gonna give license to people to make inferences that's where we get all this uh leftism Jesus socialist hippie stuff say oh it's plausible Jesus would have done that it's like where'd you get for that you meant inferential leap he's not the llamas he gave the law he isn't the law um that's the problem he's supposed to be an Evangelical he paired up with Mormons and he made a good friendship there because they helped him get this project off the ground that he testifies about this on the The Chosen YouTube channel from like four years ago or whatever it is that they posted that you know it's it's a it's an amazing route to where it got so now you have a responsibility with what you have this isn't the same thing as the DC Comics or the Marvel Comics or a Star Wars or Lord of the Rings Where You rile the fans up and you don't respect the lore this is supposed to be sacred texts of the Holy scriptures that are provided by God direct and you're adding or subtracting to it and you right here you're adding something that isn't there because you're making an inferential leap that maybe it is plausible and maybe he did say it to the Pharisees no he didn't or else we would have it written down Dallas and now you're gonna have to defend this if you defend this because you say this is my hill to die on when you said that uh what the what the the guy at the moment you were on in that live stream that I guess the part of the the project of the team well he's you said that the worship the same Jesus we don't and it's a fundamental misunderstanding here but you're supposed to have a team of other like religious leaders from different factions of Christianity that are supposed to be contributing to this I mean the main actor that plays Christ here is Catholic okay so it's not like this is all just like Evangelical Christians or maybe it's the Muslims that snuck in there as evangelicals or considers evangelicals no this really is like a a casting of many people from different backgrounds and there were some that probably weren't safe there are those that aren't say that I work in the in in the social media kind of stuff so I'm wondering is this someone that isn't safe that put this up here because this is bad PR this screen grab right here is the worst PR you can have because that is heretical admitting I'm gonna put some cool lines for crash to say and what we're gonna have T-shirts of that we're gonna have braces that say that I am the law of Moses so now what this isn't what would Jesus do kind of scenario we're like what would Jesus do in this position looks like this is what Jesus would do this is what he would do he would say I have the law of Moses that is entirely different thing this isn't about what Ryan Johnson did too Skywalker this isn't what Lord of the Rings or what Amazon did was just so color of the Rings with the rings of power that isn't this isn't what DC and Marvel's doing with wokeness that was my issue initially that I thought that he might go work with a lot of this this is even worse if he goes down this Trail this is supposed to be like six eight seasons of this watch I thought my goodness it's gonna be a powerful emotional story when we finally get to the climax of the story which is Christ sacrifice but the way this is going this is season three it was delayed because of all these other reasons and now it's coming now is uh Happy was coming up even even though I had my issues because we need more Christian content but now this yeah even my pastors initially when the show came out were having the concerns about well is the heresy or is it not and now it's like dude are you actively gonna be engaged in this yeah I have my concerns about that and you should too but we'll leave it I'm not literally leaving judgment to yourself I'm telling you the what he's saying right here so I'm just quoting this guy and whoever's running this Channel or the the Instagram thing isn't doing him any favors so we'll see what he says on the live stream the day after this goes up he says to this I'm assuming it's October 25th this is October 24th as I record this
