Hi guys and welcome back to my channel.
If you are new, welcome.
My name is Hannah and on this channel we talk all things home decor, home aesthetics, mixing
high and low with new and old and in today's video it is holiday home decor DIYs.
So if this is something you are interested in watching, just keep on watching.
So anytime I do a DIY video, I do want to just state this is not a DIY channel now.
Now I did one of these videos last month and I was really kind of excited to do something
a little bit different here for my channel as far as content goes.
And so I created a couple of fall inspired DIY items and it was really fun to just do
something different.
I wanted to do that for holiday and winter time.
So I have about four DIYs within today's video.
This video is being filmed at the end of October, hence why I still have my fall decor.
We are definitely going to be rolling into Christmas within the next week here as far
as decor goes, but I wanted to bring you guys this video early.
So if you are a crafty person, if you do like doing DIYs, these are going to be a couple
items for you guys to maybe try out for yourself.
I hope you guys enjoy these holiday DIYs, but without further ado, let's get into today's
video.
The first DIY that we are going to be creating together is a holiday wreath.
Now I went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a grapevine wreath.
This guy was priced at $5.99 and then I also picked up a handful of these picks that were
also priced at $3.99.
All of their holiday items are 50% off, so I did get these at a fairly good price.
I also grabbed some pinecones because we are going to be doing a half pine wreath, half
pinecone wreath.
I actually got inspired by something I saw at Walmart and so I wanted to kind of recreate
something for my own and my own taste.
And so all I'm doing here with these picks is just kind of shoving them into this grapevine.
I think this actually worked out better than it being a styrofoam wreath, plus I feel like
this gives it a little bit more of a natural and organic feel.
Once the picks were set to my liking, I then grabbed my hot glue gun and glued down some
of the looser areas.
For the most part, these picks stayed pretty secure within the woven grapevines, but then
I just again wanted to take a hot glue gun and make sure they were super secure.
Next we're going to be using pinecones to fill up the remainder portion of this wreath.
Now there is no right or wrong way to do this part.
I'm just simply putting pinecones where I feel looks best.
I have a variety of different sizes, so it kind of makes it a little bit more interesting
than it being just one size all the way across the board.
So again, just kind of placing these like a puzzle to fill up the remaining portion
of this wreath.
The last portion of this wreath, we are going to be taking this beautiful frayed velvet
ribbon that I got from Hobby Lobby as well.
This is by the company Merchant 41.
I think this is an absolutely stunning ribbon for the holiday season.
I found it in this really fun mustard yellow color, so I tied it in a pre-tied bow, taking
a little bit of floral wire here, placing it behind that, and then I'm going to be attaching
it to the bottom of this wreath, just giving it a little bit of color.
I wanted a very simple and minimal look for my holiday wreath, and I think this turned
out absolutely stunning.
The next holiday DIY we are going to be creating is a floral candle.
Now I did this last year for fall time, but thought it would be fun to do one for holiday.
You're going to need a couple of materials, including some white candles, a pair of tweezers,
a paintbrush, dried florals of your choice, and of course, some wax beads.
Now take those wax beads, place them in a plastic cup of your choice, get those nice
and hot until they are fully melted.
From here, you're going to take your stems, place them on the candle, and use that melted
wax to just adhere those to the candle itself.
This is a really fun DIY, it's very simple, and it's one thing that you can get really
creative with.
I did green stems, obviously, for the holiday season, but this would be a really fun DIY
to do for the holidays with maybe girls over, a girls night.
It was really fun, and I'm really happy with how these turned out for the holiday season.
The next DIY we are creating is a glass etched ornament.
Now the materials you're going to need for this is some Mod Podge, Armor Etch, some
plastic paintbrushes, some stencils, all glass ornaments, and some acrylic paint of your
choice.
Now you're going to be placing that stencil directly onto the glass ornament, and then
filling it in with that Armor Etch.
Go ahead and leave that on for about three to five minutes before fully rinsing it off
and making sure it is dry before then adding your paint.
Now I did a little bit of Mod Podge with water and the color choice for paint.
I placed that inside the ornament and let that fully dry before putting the top back
on.
I then topped it off with a really beautiful ribbon that I found at Hobby Lobby, and one
thing I did want to state with this, this DIY did not turn out how I was expecting it
to, but I still wanted to include it because not all DIYs are going to be successful.
So I did want to just state that in here that these didn't turn out exactly how I wanted
them to, but if you are one that is crafty and maybe wants to give this a go, this still
was a really fun and really great idea to do for the Christmas season.
We are finishing this video off with, of course, a holiday simmer pot.
You're going to need a few ingredients including orange, fresh cranberries, cinnamon sticks,
rosemary, cloves, and a little bit of nutmeg.
I'm starting with the sliced oranges on the bottom, then I'm adding some fresh cranberries
as well as the other ingredients for the simmer pot.
You're going to place a little bit of water at the bottom over medium heat, and this is
going to make your home smell like the holidays.
I love bringing simmers to my home.
Not only are they beautiful to look at, but it does make your house smell so yummy, and
I just wanted to share this really super and easy recipe with you guys, so hopefully
you recreate it for your home.
Alright guys, and that is it for today's video.
I hope you enjoyed this holiday DIY.
I hope you guys are getting excited for the holidays, and as we transition into the wintertime,
I cannot believe we are already at this point of the year, and I'm really excited to share
this upcoming season with you guys.
But until next time, I love you so much, thank you for being here, and we'll see you guys
in my next video.
Peace.
