Motorcycle operators tosses a little methamphetamine #arkansasstatepolice #pursuit
Trooper's Report:
On November 17, 2023, at approximately 0744 hours, I, Trooper Cody Martin, attempted a traffic stop of a yellow and blue
sports bike for improper turn onto State Highway 5 from Gateway Drive. The motorcycle was displaying Arkansas license
OT352 that returned expired as of 2012 on a red motorcycle. I attempted the stop as the motorcycle turned onto East Cleland
from State Highway 5.
As soon as it turned on E. Cleland, I observed a small clear square shaped baggie be dropped on the roadway from the left
side of the operator’s body. The motorcycle sped up to approximately 67MPH in a 40MPH zone. The motorcycle quickly
passed two vehicles on a double yellow line reaching speeds of approximately 78MH. I activated my siren and advised
Arkansas State Police Communications that I was in pursuit. The operator soon looked back at me, passed a vehicle who was
yielding to my emergency lights and siren, and pointed to the left as if he was signaling, he was pulling over.
The pursuit continued for approximately 1.5 miles at approximately 60-65MPH. The motorcycle the pulled into the driveway of
506 E. Cleland. Commands were given to the operator who complied and was taken into custody without incident. The operator
was identified as Jason Pierce. My Pierce stated he was not fleeing, he was only attempting to make it to work which is where
he stopped.
Ivy Hall Wrecker arrived on scene and took possession of the motorcycle, Mr. Pierce backpack and his riding helmet. After
clearing the scene, Sergeant Alan Johnson and I located the evidence thrown by Mr. Pierce in the same area where I observed
it. The baggie contained approximately .9 grams of suspected methamphetamine.
I transported Mr. Pierce to the Lonoke County Detention Facility where he was charged accordingly. I stored the suspected
methamphetamine at the Arkansas State Police Headquarters in Little Rock. The suspected narcotic will be sent to the
Arkansas State Crime Lab for drug analysis.
