In the 1960s and 1970s, in many Middle East wars, air strikes and surprise attacks were Israel's main means of attack, but then the ground radar systems of various countries became increasingly perfect. 有這樣一款無人機，可以精準打擊地方地面的雷達系統，並且在1997年首次亮相之後，收穫了“雷達殺手”、“空中女妖”的名號。甚至美國空軍在1999年時也想要引進這款武器。那麼究竟是怎樣一款無人機，能引得美軍如此強烈的注意呢？它就是以色列研製的“哈比”無人機。
在上世紀60--70年代，多次的中東戰爭中，空中打擊和突然襲擊，都是以色列的主要打擊手段，但隨之而來各國的地面雷達系統日益完善，這些大型的地面雷達系統，可以有效的偵測到飛機的飛行信息，這讓以色列空中戰機，在作戰中隨時面臨着地對空導彈擊落的威脅。面對這樣的情況，以色列軍方大爲頭疼，急需一種可以有效壓制，和打擊地面雷達的武器，保證戰機的制空權。這樣的形勢之下，以色列飛機工業公司，根據軍方的需求，在上世紀80年代初，開始研製針對地面雷達系統的祕密武器。
到了20世紀90年代研，以色列的以色列航空工業公司研製出了一款可以從卡車上發射的，可對雷達系統進行自主攻擊的無人機。這便是哈比無人機。哈比無人機的設計目標是攻擊雷達系統，它配備有反雷達感應器和一枚炸彈，接受到敵人雷達探測時，可以自主對雷達進行攻擊。而哈比無人機的名字就取自希臘神話中鳥身女妖——哈耳比厄，她是希臘神話中的鷹身女妖，因爲攻擊方式非常相似，就像鷹隼捕捉獵物一樣。因此哈比無人機就有了“空中女妖”和“雷達殺手”的稱號。
