When you're an atheist, it's hard to understand that there are things that you can't control.
Whereas now, now that I believe, I understand that,
of course I don't control them, but someone else does.
And it's someone I can trust.
My name is Lucie, I'm 18 years old.
I'm studying medicine, and I really like helping others.
And that's why I wanted to be a doctor.
I was an atheist for a while in my life.
For several years, I came from a completely atheist family,
in which we never talked about this subject.
So I discovered it myself, because when I was in high school,
so at the end of the 3rd grade and at the beginning of the 2nd grade,
I had a difficult time in my life.
That is to say, I was more or less harassed by a certain girl who...
It destroyed me a lot, anyway.
And so I was looking for a way to...
Anyway, a source of hope somewhere.
And besides that, as I was saying, I'm a big fan of science.
I'm in medicine, so I study the human body,
and we really realize that the human body is really perfect.
So we can wonder how it's possible that it's perfect.
It's not possible that it's so perfect by chance.
And so it's two things in my life,
that is, a little difficult events,
and then my love of science
made me start to get a little interested in that.
I started to do some research on the Internet first,
because I didn't dare to talk to anyone, and especially not to my family.
So I learned a little bit about myself.
I was looking for a little bit how to pray.
So I didn't start praying directly,
because it was still something important,
and I didn't want to do things on a whim either.
So after a few months, I started to do my first prayer
during the COVID epidemic,
because in my high school, I went to a private high school,
so in high school.
And so in high school, during the COVID,
they had posted on the school website
a prayer that could be done to the sick.
And so I thought it was the right opportunity
to try to pray for the first time.
I tried to pray, I didn't know prayer,
and in the end, it was really something beneficial for me.
So having confidence in Him,
trying to discover Him, it's not always easy.
There are times when I forced myself, it's not always easy,
but forcing yourself, in the end, it's just happiness.
And so as I went along, I started to buy a Bible.
I read it on my own.
I was always alone at first,
because I really didn't dare to talk to anyone.
Then I talked to friends, more or less, to my sister.
And finally, I ended up talking to my parents after,
I would say, two years,
after I started to get interested in this subject.
So I asked them if I could get baptized,
because being from an atheist family,
my sister and I have never been baptized.
And so they accepted.
So I started to walk with a group of young people my age.
Then, suddenly, I got baptized last April,
on Easter Eve.
I did my communion on the same day.
And then a month later, I was confirmed too.
And that's it.
I've always been someone who is very stressed, on the one hand.
So it helped me to relativize my stress level,
because it really allows you to realize
that you can put everything in the hands of God
and that, as a human being, you can take action,
but you can't manage everything either, you have to accept it.
When you're an atheist, it's hard to understand
that there are things you can't control.
Whereas now, now that I believe,
I understand that, of course, I don't control them,
but someone else does.
And it's someone I can trust.
Today, for me, God is really a friend,
a friend who can guide me,
like a friend who wants the good for us,
a friend who wants to pull us up.
For me, Christ is that one.
I'm not alone.
And for me, that's really who Christ is.
In fact, it's someone who will accompany me,
a friend who will always accompany me
and always love me, whatever my faults are,
always feel loved and not rejected
for what I am or what I do.
