Unfortunately, there were three new injuries within Arsenal's team for Arteta to deal with.
Gabriel Jesus, Emil Smith-Rowe and Partey.
Now, it's unfortunate, people, that these three key players, or at least two where
this is concerned, are now injured. Let's start with Gabriel Jesus. Now,
his camp are targeting a return to action in December. If that happens, I'm not too sure.
Gabriel Jesus' manager Arteta has urged caution with his return and he's had two big knee injuries
and now faces the prospect of being out with a hamstring. Then there's Thomas Partey, who,
you know, when you think of Partey, unfortunately, you do think injuries.
Mikel Arteta has sounded a lot more pessimistic on Partey's return, if I'm honest with you.
Harry, my good friend, has said he thinks Partey will be out for five weeks, people.
Partey played 40 games last season, 33 in the Premier League. So, to be fair,
he was fit as he's ever been, really and truly, if I'm honest with you. And as you can see with
the graphic in front of me, you know, he was getting consistent game time and playing consistently
over 90 minutes and was somewhat available and reliable. This season, he's played 341 minutes
across five appearances, including one in the Community Shield. Unfortunately, Smith-Rowe,
who could have got opportunities in midfield, has suffered a knee injury and he will be out
for a few weeks now. It's another big injury for Emil Smith-Rowe and it's very unfortunate.
He's had groin issues, shoulder injuries and now a knee knock, people. I don't know about you,
but we need to get the money out in January, if I'm completely honest with you. The accountants
at Arsenal Football Club need to find a creative solution. We need to act in the market, in my
opinion. If not that, KSE, Cronkite Sport Entertainment, they need to bring in a cash
injection or we're in big, big trouble, in my humble opinion, people. And I can't blame any
Arsenal fan if you're sitting here, if you're a bit nervous, if you're anxious, if you've got
anxiety, if you're angry, if you're sitting there and thinking, Mikel Arteta, we've seen this story
before with Smith-Rowe, with Partey and with several other players generally. You know, you
look at our summer signings, I do think we added quality and I do think we added depth. But when
you look at it, did we add depth? Of course, injuries can strike at any time. We've been
dealing with them since the summer, but it is a bitter pill to swallow really and truly. And it
does leave you just walking around in your room, in your office, wherever you lot are, just
wondering, what if? Where will we go from here? What will happen? How do we move on? I don't know,
people. I don't have all the answers, but I will ride this wave with you lot, folks. And again,
even if some of you want to be drawn to tears, I feel like crying for Emil Smith-Rowe because he's
had a tough time with injuries. He's finally started to get a look in the team and unfortunately
he's out for a few weeks, people. And again, as I said, Arsenal fans, young and old, if you feel
like crying, there's nothing I can tell you. But what I will say, for everybody that is crying,
we've made our bed. We've got a lie in it. There's no point crying. Everybody, whatever
God or gods you believe in, we need to pray. We need a miracle. January is a long time away. We
need to deal with the players that we have available. Now is not the time to feel sorry
for ourselves. It's put up or shut up, really and truly, if I'm completely honest. But as I said,
everybody join their hands in prayer. Let's pray and hope for the best, really.
Mikel Lauteta has to find creative solutions because at the end of the day,
you know, with certain players in our squad, you know, they do pick up injuries.
We've seen this story before. We know we need a big squad. I've already said I love the additions
defensively and in the final third centimetre, there's more questions than answers, with the
exception of Declan Rice. We have to get on with it. As I said, there's more questions than answers.
This is Mikel Lauteta's job to find solutions. January is nowhere near, so we have to get on
with it. So, yeah, people, big up you lot. By now, you've reached it to the end of the vid.
Please make sure you're subscribing and also you've hit the like button. Now, when I think
of Emil Smith-Rowe, my heart bleeds because you lot know me. I'm biased. He's a hell-end boy.
He was once a regular in the team. He's our number 10. He's had a tough time with injuries.
He's come back from injuries, looked bright in pre-season, obviously played for England's
under-21s where they won the trophy, and he's had to be patient. And obviously, you know,
as you saw with the West Ham game, for example, you can't necessarily bet on Jorginho for the rest
of the season, can't have answers, question marks, Partey can't stay fit. And I know they're
not all the same midfield profiles, but you would have been forgiven for expecting, you know what,
Smith-Rowe, there's a chance for you to play on the left or right in midfield. So it's a shame,
really, because this is a season from Smith-Rowe where he needs to prove to himself that he can
stay fit, remind Mikel Lauteta that he can stay fit and ultimately show his quality really and
truly. I hope it literally is a number of weeks, but where all of these players are concerned,
you have to be quite pessimistic. As we saw with Saliba and Gabriel last season,
at the point of returning to fitness, Mikel Lauteta and Arsenal have been a bit reluctant
to throw them in, which is also very good, really, in my opinion. So it's a bit of pill to swallow
for Smith-Rowe. Gabriel Jesus, I'm unclear as to why since he's joined Arsenal there's been some
injuries. Fair enough, he got injured for Brazil. He's had two knee injuries for Arsenal. You know,
he's out for a few weeks early in the season and he's had a hamstring knot. Now this could be
coincidental. This could be in relation to the recovery methods we're using at Arsenal
and things like that. You know, what I would say is, you know, you look at Gabriel Jesus' comments
after the Sevilla game. I said it then and I'll say it now. He's not a physio. You know,
Gabriel Jesus strikes me as someone that, you know, in a positive way, he could have zero
fitness. He could have bare injuries, but he still wants to put his body on the line. So
it's a bit of pill to swallow. Where Thomas Partey is concerned, I love the guy. I think
he's a quality player. I think he gives our midfield a new dimension. I do think we need
to find a long-term target. But as you saw in the video earlier, the best ability you can have is
availability. You're not available. It's irrelevant. And to his credit, he was fit for 40 games last
season, 33 in the Premier League. But you're never quite optimistic about Partey staying fit.
And it does seem like, again, I don't know what's going on the training ground, but it seems like
Partey seems to pick up knots in training. No clue as to why that is. Could be merely coincidental.
With Partey being on the wrong side of 30, with him earning big wages and being contracted until
2025, there's every reason or case to make him sign a new deal. And there's also every case to
move on from Thomas Partey in the sense of he doesn't necessarily have to be sold. You could
buy someone that fills that void or someone that is a six and allows Declan Rice to play in as an
eight or Declan Rice stays as a six and you find an eight. But that's where we're at, really.
There's a reality where he could have a reduced row at Arsenal. I do think in the summer,
considering the last two summers we've brought in players on big wages and big money,
probably is a good chance to move on Thomas Partey, in my opinion, because of the wages.
You know, you look at Emil Smith-Brow, he could be someone that's moved on in the summer. Aaron
Ramsdale could fetch a decent fee. Partey, your shapes, I don't know if he's a top earner now
with all Declan Rice and Havertz and new deals, but he's probably near the top end and there's
not really any longevity. As I said earlier, I think there's more question marks in midfields
than answers. I think Declan Rice in his own way answers a lot of questions, but who is his
partner? We need to find that long-term Thomas Partey replacement, really, and truly, if I'm
completely honest, we've got a bag of players who can play in certain roles. As you saw with
Jorginho against West Ham, he's a good player, but once he runs out of gas, he's even easier to run
pass in midfield, really. We all know it comes down to squad depth. We've seen this movie before.
I've been very passionate about the need to sign central midfielders. There's nothing we can do
until January, so we're going to have to get on with it. While I think there's a lot of luxuries
and excuses, you can cut Mikel Arteta, I don't think the knock-on effect with injuries is
something you can do. Tim Burr is unfortunate, but with certain players we've seen this, and
I do think at times we're going to have to learn the hard way. At this football club,
we take players that are good players on the periphery or rotation options,
and then we make them regulars, or we keep hoping that certain players will show us something in
terms of their fitness. We needed to sign a couple of midfielders in the summer. Sorry,
we need to in January. We didn't do it in the summer. All we have to do is get on with it,
and at best, I hope that Thomas Partey and Gabriel Jesus are at least back for the Liverpool game,
I believe, on the 23rd of December. We're going to have to get on with it, really. We're down to
our bare bones to lose three key players to our squad. Well, two and a half in that. Gabriel and
Jesus and Smith Rowe, I think he's got a role to play. Simply put, we're going to have to get on
with it. It's as simple as that. Let me know your thoughts on all this injury news. How do we move
on from this? Does this actually change you lot's thinking in relation to January? I would say I
love a right winger, I love a striker, and I would love a central midfielder or two. Probably
unrealistic for us to get all three, or we could have a certain profile. Last January, we brought
in Jorginho, Kyrgios, and Trosser. I think the priority has to be midfield. As I said, you look
at our defensive options, whatever you think about them, Zinchenko, Tomiasu, if Timber is fit,
which he's not, Saliba, Gabriel, Benjamin White, Rael, Ramsdale, as part of the defensive unit,
there's some good options. Further forward, whatever you think of Eddie, he's shown that
he can have a role to play. Can we upgrade on that? A hundred percent. But Eddie Nketiah's
shown he's got a role. You've got Jesus, you've got Saka, you've got Nelson, you've got Trosser,
you've got Martinelli. Midfield, who do we have? Yes, you've got Kai Havertz. You know,
you've got Kai Havertz. Smith-Rowe isn't fit, but you've got Kai, you've got Smith-Rowe,
you've got Fabio Vieira, you've got Odegaard. They can all play as eights and tens and things
like that. But what pure centre mid options do we have? We've got El Nene, who's the closest thing
to a Thomas Parr, a sort of deputy in a six. He hasn't played for about 10, 11 months. How fit
is he, really? We need another midfielder. Declan Rice is the only one that provides any real
longevity, in my opinion. The rest don't quite do that. And considering the fact that our sporting
director, Edu, was a midfielder, and so was Mikel Arteta, they had to have considered this. They
had to have known about this. So they're going to have to face the music people. As I said,
there's nothing we can do, really. You know, we can cry, we can moan, we can be anxious.
We're just going to have to get on with it. While I hope that the club are starting to think about
doing business in January, there's nothing we can do until January. So we're going to have to get
on with it. We've got some tough games. Now all I would say is every other player in that squad,
some of you definitely, based on the West Ham game, probably don't deserve to play a single
game for the rest of the year. You lot are going to get opportunities. Take them, really. And at
the end of the day, we need to just keep going. Injuries are not something that's an exclusivity
to Arsenal Football Club. So yeah, let me know your thoughts, people. Thank you for watching.
