Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.
Oppenheimer answered the NBC News interview like that in 1965, when he ended his life.
He is the father of nuclear weapons, the weapons that every country wants to have on the international stage, but not every country has the ability to possess such powerful and deadly weapons.
Once you follow it, you have to follow it to the end, until you reach your goal.
If you give up, there is only one ending, and the price to pay is extremely high.
And the ending, as well as the price to pay when giving up the nuclear program of many countries, is what we will talk about in today's video.
Welcome to Battlecry Exploration.
What do countries want when they follow the nuclear weapons program?
Richard Haass, Chairman of the U.S. Foreign Relations Council, once said in 2017 as follows.
Both Iraq and Libya were invaded after abandoning their nuclear weapons program.
And a North Korean country that follows the nuclear weapons program cannot be attacked.
This is an unforgettable lesson.
Therefore, it can be seen that the most basic thing for a country when developing a nuclear program is its national security.
First of all, in terms of overall strength, a country that possesses a nuclear weapon, even if it is just a missile, a bomb,
has also created a huge deterrence to neighboring countries, or even to large countries that are invading them.
Increasing self-defense capabilities is essential when possessing a nuclear weapon or a nuclear weapon program.
It implicitly shows that if you have a nuclear weapon, you and I are the same. Remember that.
The dangerous nature of the two words, nuclear, and the two bombs in World War II has said everything about its horror.
The world today is no different from where the law of the jungle rules, when only the strong are promoted.
It is quite similar to the saying, only money can disturb the good.
That is why many countries, although poor, but also have to try their best to develop their nuclear weapons and ensure their national security.
For example, in terms of national security, Nam Tse's nuclear weapons program during the time of President Joseph Tito.
The materials show that under the leadership of Joseph Tito, Nam Tse has built an open relationship with the West and the East,
but only in terms of some restrictions, not entirely based on any force because of concerns about national security.
To serve this program, Tito established three nuclear science institutes in the years 1948 to 1950.
He also built a nuclear power plant to make the cover for this program.
Nam Tse also cooperated with the US to develop a nuclear program by sending students to many famous universities in the US.
Many documents also state that in 1952, researchers from the US Geological Society, with the help of geological experts,
conducted a survey in Nam Tse and identified two large-sized uranium mines in Slovenia and Macedonia.
However, due to Tito's health problem, as well as the lack of missiles or bombs capable of carrying nuclear warheads,
Nam Tse abandoned the nuclear program in 1987.
And only a few years later, Nam Tse died.
Another example of national security is the North Korean nuclear program.
As you know, the Korean peninsula is still in a state of war.
The war is just a pause between the terms of a ceasefire agreement between the two sides.
The danger of war still exists.
Also, because of the fear that one day, the war will come back,
the North Korean leaders, despite having to eat grass, also have to possess nuclear weapons.
Because only when they have a gun in their hand, they feel safe in front of the Americans.
In addition, there is another important thing to say,
and that is to show the ambition of a country when it possesses those deadly weapons.
The example is Libya, with Muammar Gaddafi's terrible nuclear program.
In Libya, since the early 1970s, Muammar Gaddafi has found every way to get nuclear weapons.
In order to achieve this goal, Gaddafi blamed the leader of the Libyan armed forces,
Jamal Khashoggi, for negotiating with the Soviet Union,
promising to give Moscow a huge sum of money to transfer nuclear technology.
Muammar Gaddafi is a man full of ambition.
He always wants to become the democrat of the Arab world and Africa.
But in Libya, the displaced population does not have enough power to serve that ambition.
In order to become a democrat, Gaddafi must have a special army.
In this case, the atomic bomb is the best option.
Another reason why Tripoli is interested in nuclear weapons
is the anti-supremacy policy of the regime in Libya.
Because of his frequent comments, but about criticism to the whole world,
Gaddafi has risked placing himself in a position that can be completely isolated from politics at any time.
In addition, in the foreign policy, Libya adheres to a tough confrontation with Sardinia,
a traditional enemy of the Arab countries.
Therefore, when the neighboring country of Egypt signed a peace treaty with the Thai state,
Gaddafi had to face a one-on-one conflict with Sardinia.
In that condition, the atomic bomb for the Libyan leader seems to be an absolute security guarantee.
According to the CIA, Libya has paid a price for Libya's pursuit of a peaceful nuclear program.
It is noteworthy that not only Libya supports the nuclear program for Libya,
other countries such as France, Belgium, Finland, Argentina and India have also agreed to cooperate with Gaddafi.
The father of the atomic bomb, Pakistan, Abdul Qadir Khan, has also helped Libya a lot.
History has shown that the terror of the Libyan dictator made him have to allocate billions of dollars for the nuclear program,
not that there is no basis.
But it all stops there.
Libya abandoned the nuclear program in 2003.
And after that, what is left after that?
Why did they abandon it?
As I said, once it was announced that the United States began to change the nuclear program,
it meant that the countries had to follow it to the end, not to be left in the middle.
However, countries such as Libya, Iraq, South Africa were not so determined.
And finally, they left in the middle of what they were pursuing.
Why is that?
First of all, in general, it is not easy to pursue the nuclear program.
On the contrary, it is extremely expensive.
The tens of billions of dollars that Libya has spent is almost nothing for the nuclear programs.
In fact, if you want to own those toys, you have to spend at least 100 billion dollars.
With South Africa, the situation in the world is gradually changing.
Belgrade, for economic, political and diplomatic reasons,
has also abandoned its nuclear weapons program.
There are three reasons why South Africa has abandoned its nuclear weapons program.
First, nuclear power is considered to be extremely important for the economic growth of South Africa.
With nuclear power, they will not have to worry about the lack of electricity for facilities, factories and industries.
Therefore, instead of developing nuclear weapons,
they decided to abandon and follow the path of nuclear power, which is more friendly.
Second, South Africa wants to build reputation with the international community.
And finally, it is a financial issue that does not allow them to continue researching and developing nuclear weapons.
After many decades of pursuing this program, and at the time of Tito's passing,
the South African government is facing significant financial debt in the 1980s.
This forced them to give up their ambition.
Second, the international pressure, as well as the changes in the world situation,
is also a turning point that has forced many countries to give up their dream of joining the nuclear club.
For example, Libya of Gaddafi.
This originates from the demand for economic reforms of this country.
For a long time, Tripoli has set the goal of restoring diplomatic relations with the US and the West
because it has to endure too many harsh sanctions.
Sanctions make Libya isolated from the economy and politics.
Throughout the 1990s, Tripoli tried to reduce the burden of sanctions.
But they only succeeded when they expelled two suspects in the Lockerbie bombing.
Therefore, to be reunited with society,
Gaddafi has only one choice, which is to give up nuclear weapons and all kinds of destructive weapons.
As for Iraq, in fact, Iraq used to have a nuclear bomb production program,
but it did not create any in time and also gave up this program.
As for biological weapons and chemical weapons,
Iraq had and used them in the war with Iran.
But after 1991, all these weapons were stopped developing and destroyed.
In addition, under the pressure of the US and its allies,
Iraq also destroyed its missile storage facilities in an effort to avoid a war.
One thing that Iraq did not want,
in the context of the country being exhausted due to sanctions.
Iraq then worked very hard and showed cooperation,
as well as had to work very hard to prove that it did not have any destructive weapons.
All he said was that he wanted the country to develop again after the sanctions.
And he was ready to accept any price that the international community gave.
Looking at the South West, Libya or Iraq,
we can all see a common point in why they gave up their nuclear weapons program.
That is to find a solution that is suitable for the problems they are facing.
Instead of sticking to the end, while the economy is declining,
the country is going down.
They are ready to give up to find something better.
But the better things are nowhere to be found.
Only the worst things come to them right after that.
In 1990, after many years of giving up their nuclear weapons program,
the South West faced many serious crises.
More than that, it was the collapse of the South West of NATO.
From March 24 to June 10, 1999,
NATO carried out a war that was not allowed by the United Nations.
Instead, it was described as a humanitarian intervention.
NATO described the war as an illegal invasion
against a sovereign country that violated international law
because it did not have the support of the UN Security Council.
These bombings killed about 489 to 528 civilians.
Many villages were destroyed,
industrial factories, public buildings, private enterprises,
as well as many camps and other military facilities were also destroyed.
There was no nuclear weapon or nuclear weapon program to take over the countries.
The South West was almost weak against the blows that NATO gave them.
On March 20, 2003, President George W. Bush ordered the attack on Iraq
because the regime of Saddam Hussein was possessing a series of weapons.
Based on the evidence provided by CIA and a group of salt,
the United Nations investigation into the weapons of Iraq became worthless.
International law was also invalidated.
By 2008, when he was about to end his presidency,
Bush admitted on ABC that the decision to wage war against Saddam Hussein
was based on wrong intelligence information
and this is the most regrettable thing in his presidency.
On December 20, 2003, Libyan President Muammar Gaddafi
also announced the cancellation of the National Secret Weapons Program.
The International Armed Forces immediately arrived in the capital of Libya
to inspect and support the cancellation of the Libyan Secret Weapons Program.
Gaddafi donated his treasure to the West
in exchange for security for himself and for the country.
Even in 2009, two US senators, John McCain and Liz Graham,
when sitting with Mr. Gaddafi in Tripoli,
had promised financial support to Libya
if the Gaddafi presidential government cooperated against al-Qaeda.
And after confirming exactly that Libya was no longer a target of nuclear weapons,
only two years later,
Washington reached out and helped the opposition in Libya against Gaddafi.
On October 20, 2011, the Libyan leader was overthrown and died.
Why do Iran and North Korea chase at all costs?
North Korea also decided not to cancel its nuclear weapons program.
A Russian expert said so when North Korea announced the country's nuclear weapons program.
So far, and all the evidences of countries that have abandoned their nuclear weapons
have suffered,
it can be said that North Korea never hesitates to believe that the US is not afraid
if it abandons its nuclear weapons program.
Despite the pressure of the international community and China,
a country that has supported North Korea a lot,
North Korea is still developing nuclear weapons like a living symbol.
The North Korean side affirmed that the US was the one who took the initiative to use nuclear deterrence
against North Korea first,
and pushed the Northeast Asian country to where it had to develop nuclear weapons to defend itself.
In fact, North Korea also wants to de-nuclearize,
but they say that the tree wants to fall, but the wind over there does not stop.
According to many documents of the United Nations Security Council,
South Korea has become the largest nuclear warhead of the US,
with all kinds of nuclear weapons such as bombs, artillery, missile launchers, mines,
and special vehicles, as well as bases and warehouses.
This makes North Korea feel threatened,
and they are forced to pursue nuclear weapons to balance the game,
as well as ensure their own country's security.
In addition to North Korea, there is still another country forced to pursue nuclear weapons,
which is Iran.
Tehran simply follows the strategic logic of popularizing nuclear weapons over the past 50 years.
The Soviet Union sees that having nuclear weapons is a matter of survival,
because the US has and uses them to reverse the balance in normal conflicts.
France, the UK, and then China also have them,
because they seek strategic independence from the US and the Soviet Union.
Iran builds nuclear weapons as the final strategic target
to deal with the strength of its neighbors, the United Arab Emirates.
India pursues it because its main strategic opponent is not Pakistan,
but China, which also possesses a lot of nuclear weapons.
We can see that Iran and North Korea have the same point of view,
that there is at least one country around them that possesses nuclear weapons,
and before that, they were all non-nuclear countries.
But looking at the situation of non-nuclearized countries,
then being hit for nothing,
they believe that the US and the West have built up their fat mouths as a basis for war.
From here, we can understand why they are determined to pursue nuclear weapons to the end.
And you, what do you think about the countries that have abandoned nuclear weapons
and then surrender to North Korea and Iran when pursuing this destructive weapon?
