Right now in the lineup, a man is dead after a carjacking outside of a mosque.

The not-so-sweet reason for the change.
Remembering a friend.
Fans and fellow actors are reacting to the sudden death of Friends star Matthew Perry.
What we are learning about how he died.
Those stories and more on today's edition of the lineup.
It is Monday, October 30th, 2023.
The lineup is brought to you by TD Bank.
America's most convenient bank.
Hey everyone, I'm NBC 10's Keith Jones.
I'm NBC 10's Erin Coleman.
Let's get you up to speed with what you need to know today.
Starting with a deadly shooting outside of a mosque in Delaware County.
NBC 10's Randy Gyllenhaal, he's got the details.
Well, police believe this began as yet another carjacking that led to gunfire.
However, they don't think this was a hate crime or a bias incident.
Just a random act of violence that happened here in the back parking lot of this mosque in Upper Darby.
The 65-year-old victim was confronted by the carjacker and then shot in the chest.
His car was stolen just as people were entering the mosque for evening prayers.
The victim was a member here pronounced dead at the scene.
While his car, a Toyota RAV4, that was recovered a short time later in the city of Philadelphia.
Police believe it was a random act of violence.
Leaders at the mosque say it's shaken this community, especially since it happened during their evening prayers.
No arrests have been announced yet.
Upper Darby police continue to investigate.
In Upper Darby, Randy Gyllenhaal, NBC 10 News.
A South Philadelphia school is closed today because of asbestos.
You know, this is the start of a series of changes for students at South Fork School because of the asbestos concerns.
It's bringing NBC 10's Matt DeLucia.
He's here to explain.
Well, there is no school today for students here at South Fork Elementary.
And then tomorrow through Thursday, it's going to be virtual learning,
all because of what was found in the attic of this old building here.
In a letter to students and parents, the principal said that during a routine inspection of a fan,
crews discovered dust and debris in the attic.
Now, the attic does have floors that contain asbestos.
So the concern is that if they turn the fan on, which is used to help heat the building during cold weather,
then the asbestos could be stirred up and circulated through the building.
So the changes are starting next week.
Students in kindergarten through fifth grade,
they're going to move to a space in the South Philadelphia High School that is just for them.
And kids in grades six through eighth, they're going to go to the George Child School.
As for a timeline here, the school and the district only say that this could take several weeks
for the repairs to be completed in South Philadelphia.
Matt DeLucia, NBC 10 News.
All right, and the cause of death for famous friend Matthew Perry may not be known for weeks.
But we do know foul play is not suspected.
When I get back, it's chair city, and I'm the guy who's sitting in a chair.
The actor best known for starring in the 90s NBC sitcom Friends died Saturday.
He was 54 years old. First responders found him dead in his hot tub at his home in Los Angeles.
An autopsy has been performed, but investigators are still waiting on toxicology results.
Sources say prescription medications were found at the home, but not at the hot tub.
Perry was open about his battle with drugs and alcohol and revealed in his memoir
he had been to rehab at least 15 times.
Now, a week ago, Perry made this final post on social media,
sharing a photo of him in a pool with the moon behind clouds in the sky.
This was on Instagram. He made a reference to Batman.
In New York City, Perry's fans have started a memorial near the New York apartment building
featured in Friends. That's the building where the characters lived last night.
And today, people were leaving flowers in Perry's memory and taking photos of the building
after news of his death.
Shocked a lot of people, that's for sure.
All right, a scary surprise this Halloween.
Yeah, the price of a sweet treat is skyrocketing.
We're back in 30 seconds with details.
At TD Bank, we see the story behind every transaction.
Grandma got me overnight.
Like yesterday, when this grandma went big for Nate's birthday.
Nana went big, too.
Bouncy castle.
Now I'm a real knight.
But she didn't expect the extra charge.
75 bucks for air? That overdrew my account.
There's a story behind every overdraft.
That's why TD Overdraft Relief gives you an extra day to fix it and avoid the fees.
TD Bank. Unexpectedly human.
All right, you probably have all your Halloween candy ready to go for tomorrow night.
Let's hope you haven't eaten it because you bought it too early and have to go back and get another bag
because candy prices, they're higher than last year.
Sounds like you're speaking from experience.
No matter what you spent this Halloween, it's expected to be the biggest moneymaker on record.
NBC 10's Matt DeLucia is back with us, looking for answers about why the prices are so high.
Remember when you could buy candy with just the change in your pocket?
Not anymore. Prices are up.
On decorations, on candy, on costumes, all the stuff associated with Halloween.
It's the kind of thing Dr. Tyler Milfeld knows quite a bit about.
Before he was an assistant professor at the Villanova School of Business, he worked in the candy industry.
One of the things, Matt, that I think is really fascinating about this Halloween season is that even with those rising prices,
a lot of projections show that consumers are going to spend more this Halloween.
Yeah, the sugar rush has been looking more like the gold rush.
Prices on candy and gum have gone up 7.5% over the last year. So why?
So there's been a worldwide sugar shortage, which has driven up the cost of sugar,
which has meant the prices are noticeably higher.
And as scary as those prices are, people are still shelling out for those sugary staples.
The National Retail Federation estimates more than $100 spent per person.
You see a lot more collaborations. You see the Hershey Company collaborate with Warner Brothers and Harry Potter to have some Harry Potter themed chocolates.
You see M&M and Mars teaming up with GoPuff, the Philly based company, to deliver chocolates to you.
Candy companies still want to fill their bag, too.
And if you think your bag is getting lighter, that's because it probably is.
It's a common marketing strategy. It's called a wait out strategy where you take out the number of pieces or you reduce the size.
So instead of raising the price on a product or a good that you buy, you may just take some weight out.
Or you can wait it out. Buy after the holiday when the prices come down and just wait until next year.
Once that clock shifts from the 31st to the 1st, you'll see deep discounts the next day.
Happy Halloween, even if the prices aren't so sweet.
Matt DeLucia, NBC 10 News.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
I like that.
Yeah, I know you like it.
Yeah, but I've noticed, too. You've had to notice, too.
Yeah, it's way too expensive.
Everything's going on.
All right. All eyes going to be turning to the skies next spring.
That's because you may just catch a glimpse of a real devil of a sight.
Talking about a comet the size of Mount Everest that's shooting fire and ice.
The so-called devil comet is speeding toward Earth.
But astronomers say, don't worry, it won't hit us.
The comet is named for its horn looking things.
That's a scientific term. It speeds by Earth about every 75, 71 years.
The next April is the next chance to spot it with the naked eye.
Closest it's going to get to Earth is hundreds of millions of miles away.
It's actually going to be farther away from the Earth than the sun is.
Yeah, so at its closest, the comet will still be about 144 million miles from Earth.
So far away, but you get to see the horn looking things on it.
Yeah, you like that?
I like that.
It's the best way to describe the devil comet.
On Halloween, no less.
All right, the National Park Service says that a spider caused the crash over the weekend.
Sensing a theme here.
A Swiss couple saw a tarantula crossing a road in Death Valley National Park.
So they hit the brakes to keep from killing it.
A motorcycle was behind them, though.
He couldn't stop in time, hit the back of the RV, went to the hospital.
For all of it, though, listen to this.
The spider could have been marching to its death anyway.
It was likely a male spider in search of a mate,
and female tarantulas are known to kill the males after mating and eating them.
So all of that might have been for nothing.
You know, you learn a lot on the lineup. You learn all about spider mating habits.
Who knew?
I knew that there were species that, like, did that.
I thought it was, like, praying mantises, but I don't know.
Maybe it was the tarantula.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, don't mess with me.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No, I'm just thinking about what the plight of a male spider.
I mean, on one hand, then on the other hand.
Yeah, you're dead.
Yeah, right, exactly.
It's not good. Not good, ultimately.
She eats you.
Don't mess with a female tarantula.
No, no, no.
No, no.
Someone will soon be sporting an Eagle Super Bowl ring.
Yeah, an auction selling this ring presented to former Eagle Nigel Bradham back in 2018.
It's now over. The winning bid topped $80,000.
We don't know who bought it.
Bradham, of course, played linebacker for the Birds when they beat the Patriots to win the Super Bowl back in February 2018.
So what do we think about this?
Listen, he's not a player. He or she's not a player who bought this ring, right?
Not a staff member. Not in the front office.
Just a fan.
Yeah, now you get to wear a ring. Very cool. For $80,000.
It's not yours.
So there's two sides of this, right?
At first, I was like, why in the world?
Like, you didn't earn it.
Why do you want this ring so bad for that much money to put in a case?
Yeah, right.
Somebody else's ring.
Same time, you know, meteorologist Bill Henley brought up a good point.
You know, people collect everything.
Of course, right.
They pay big money for everything.
Yeah, yeah.
And also scarcity is a thing, right?
Because it's like there's only one Super Bowl ring for the Eagles.
So, so long as that's the case, there's only a finite amount of these things.
But here's the thing, I just feel like it's different.
Like, if it's like the bat that Bryce Harper hit in his home run, you know what I mean?
Something very specific, yeah.
Yeah, very specific. This doesn't seem very specific.
Like, everybody got one of these.
You couldn't have watched it on TV, right?
Yes, plus their family member, you know what I mean?
Like, it was given out afterward.
It's not like, you know, confetti from, or the shoes that somebody wore in the Super Bowl.
Yeah, and you could buy a replica also for probably less than $100.
It's the other thing, you know?
But hey, look, you got $80,000 to do that, put it in a case.
And when people come to your house, hey, look at what I got.
There you go, look at that.
I wasted my money on very cool.
Take a look.
Yeah, exactly.
Yeah, that person's probably very happy.
Yeah, right?
You know?
And that's what it's all about.
I could do other things at $80,000.
Good for the Bradham family.
Yeah.
All right, that does it for today's edition of The Lineup.
For Erin Colvin, I'm Keith Jones.
