It is not enough to find an action that fascinates you.
Instead, you start to invest mental energy in an objective,
you execute the actions necessary to achieve this objective,
and then you cultivate your passion along the way.
Because you discover things that you would not have discovered without this initial experience.
If you don't work towards your ideal future, then you work for someone else.
Because in any case, we are creatures that work by setting goals.
And if you don't create your own goal,
what you are going to do is that you are going to invest energy in the identity that has been assigned to you.
Every day, you have to devote time to creativity, productivity and experimentation.
This is what will help you achieve your goals.
So if you haven't built anything yet and you only have an hour a day,
it is this block of an hour that you use.
It is during this hour that you focus your efforts on the levers
that will allow you to get closer to your vision of the future.
If you can spend 8 hours building someone else's dreams,
you can spend an hour building yours.
One of the most powerful ideas I have recently thought about
is to bring your ideal future into the present.
And what I mean by that is to do the same actions
that you would do in your ideal way of life,
but on a much smaller scale.
So let's say I want to write 2 hours every morning for the rest of my life.
Well, what I'm going to do, and I've been doing it for a while,
but what I started doing is that I started writing 5 minutes a day,
then 15 minutes a day, 30 minutes a day, 1 hour a day,
and continued to increase this slowly over the years
until I could maintain this habit for 2 hours a day.
This video is entirely dedicated to the deep work
and execution of the tasks you really want to do,
while slowly increasing this execution clock
until you can do them as long as you want.
Then, when you bring the actions of your ideal future
or the things that will materialize your ideal future in the present
and you start implementing them,
what you do is that you start investing mental energy in an objective
by focusing on this objective.
So you invest energy in this ideal way of life that you are trying to create.
And the more you do it, whether it's 15 minutes a day, 1 hour a day, or 4 hours a day,
the more you invest energy or money in a metaphorical sense.
And so the more you do it, the more you feel obliged to do it.
This is how we create a dynamic and discover one of our passions.
It is not enough to find an action that fascinates you.
Instead, you start investing mental energy in an objective,
you execute the actions necessary to achieve this objective,
and then you cultivate your passion along the way.
Because you discover things that you would not have discovered without this initial experience.
And so when you don't work on this objective,
you feel like you're wasting this money,
wasting your initial investment.
And so, again, your body and your mind will tell you,
Hey, I have to get back to working on this objective.
I can't let myself be distracted.
Otherwise, I will no longer feel the progress, momentum, and passion that I felt before.
This is how you maintain an exciting, fulfilling, and full of momentum life.
Another element that comes into play here is my theory of conceptual survival.
Conceptual survival is the human phenomenon
where our survival instincts have transcended the physical domain
and have integrated into the mental domain.
We work to survive ideas, concepts, and beliefs
that shape our sense of identity.
So if you identify or create this objective,
which begins to shape your perspective and your way of seeing the world,
and you start to act in agreement with it
and invest mental energy in this objective,
or in your future identity,
well, you're slowly starting to build this identity, aren't you?
And by conceptual survival,
we try to live in agreement with this idea that we have of ourselves.
And so our actions will align with that.
And the more we do these things,
the more we agree with the idea of doing the work we are going to talk about here.
And so, with that,
when you see your daily situations from the point of view of your future version of yourself
or the objective you are working towards,
you will see life under a completely different light.
The main lesson to remember to finish this section of the video
is that if you are not working towards your ideal future,
then you are working for someone else.
Because in any case,
we are creatures that function by setting goals.
And if you do not create your own goal,
what you are going to do is that you are going to invest energy
in the identity that has been assigned to you.
Like, for example, being a student,
or having a job in a company,
or being a 65-year-old retiree.
And your actions will align to survive this belief.
And whether you are aware of it or not.
We are now going to talk about the holistic daily routine.
Fill your brain in the afternoon with books,
learning and socialization.
Empty your brain before going to bed,
keeping a diary, planning and meditating.
And use your brain in the morning
for creation, production and concentration.
Every day, you have to devote time
to creativity, productivity and experimentation.
This is what will help you achieve your goals.
Because you need this mix.
We cannot be content with being productive
without experimenting
and without being able to refine your plan along the way.
Otherwise, all you do is perform tasks that have been assigned to you.
Now, the first objection that comes to mind is that
you don't have enough time.
And that's okay.
I'm not asking you to devote 4 hours a day.
6 hours a day or 8 hours a day.
I'm asking you to devote the least amount of time you can.
Because if you don't do it,
then you don't create your future life.
I mean, if you don't devote time,
if you don't block your daily routines,
and if you don't concentrate during these moments
in order to move the levers that will lead you to your ideal future,
well, you will never reach it.
It's as simple as that.
And you don't have to feel obliged to do it
like 3 hours a day at the very beginning of your trip.
If you have a wife and children,
then yeah, start with 15 to 30 minutes a day
and slowly increase from there.
A lot of people don't realize it or don't notice it,
but their psychism is not made for modern life.
Okay?
They're not wired to be under fluorescent lights,
to sit in front of an office all day.
Okay.
Imagine for a second a monkey sitting in front of an office.
I know you're not a monkey,
but a monkey would suffer to be sitting in front of an office for so long
because his psychism is not made for that.
We need to hunt.
And in our time, what I mean by hunting
is to pursue things or objectives that make sense to us.
Something new in your life.
To start new discoveries.
To make our creativity work.
Today, that's what hunting is.
It's being able to find something new,
take it and create something with it.
And that's what will make you feel so good.
So if this modern life has become normal for you,
you are by definition trapped in the matrix.
Which is a metaphorical term to say
that you are enslaved to a certain routine.
You need 3 activities to pursue your goals
with full power.
A first one that fills your mind.
You need education, ideas and new resources
that you can apply to your goals.
This will lead you to an intrinsic motivation.
Secondly, an activity that allows you to empty your mind.
You don't want to be trapped in a chaotic bubble of thoughts and useful ideas
because that's exactly how you won't make any progress.
So write your thoughts instead of keeping them for yourself.
And lastly, an activity that asks you to use your mind.
You need a vessel to concentrate your efforts
with your ideas and clarity
to execute and build your future.
Who you are, what you think,
feel and do, what you love
is the sum of what you focus on.
Quote from Cal Newport.
So now we're going to talk about the need
for a deep work.
By the way, Cal Newport is the author of the book Deep Work.
Productivity consists in doing the most effective work possible
in a minimum of time.
Productivity doesn't consist in seeing who can work the longest
and using it as a badge of honor
that we can show to our friends, colleagues and partners.
In a world of notifications, multiple options and overloads,
deep work is frankly no longer an option.
It's a necessity.
You have to make time to work on your future
or on your business
or simply to avoid conversations, notifications
or distractions as a whole.
You have to sit down, channel your creative power
that you have acquired through your consumption,
your education or the acquisition of skills
and you have to concentrate all this in a ship,
aka a business
to reap the benefits of this business
in the form of money, relationships, resources in general
and then be able to have it as a currency of exchange
that you can exchange for a better life for yourself.
It is through deep work that you can realize your dreams
in record time.
We are now going to talk about the priority scale.
And with that, with this priority scale,
you can radically change your life in 6 months
with 1 hour per day of deep work.
1 hour, that's all.
Don't think you need more than that.
1 hour, 1 concrete project, 1 day at a time.
This scale is very easy to understand
with your priority number 1,
number 2, number 3 and number 4.
So your priority number 1
is to focus on the elaboration of your vision
through a project
and your priority number 4
corresponds to maintenance tasks
where, for example, you answer emails,
you answer messages
or other things of the same kind
where you are potentially more distracted
because there is nothing after that, okay?
After that, there is no more creative work to do.
So let's start with priority number 1.
Priority number 1 is about
what built my whole life.
I mean, as long as I remember,
even in my younger years,
I always had a project on which I worked
almost as a priority from the wake up.
Today, it's always the first thing I do in the morning.
For example, right now, I'm writing a book
because it's a new project, okay?
It's not something I have to work on
all the time for now.
It's not something I have to maintain
or update all the time.
It's something new.
And so that's why it's my priority number 1.
So if you haven't built anything yet
and you only have an hour a day,
it's this block of an hour that you use.
It is during this time that you focus your efforts
on the levers that will allow you
to get closer to your vision of the future.
And once it's done, for beginners,
their number one priority will probably become
something like launching a brand
on social media, developing a community.
And then, when you have crossed
the threshold of perception that we talked about
in a previous video,
which means that at first it is very difficult
to tackle this project because it is something new.
And your mind will perceive it as something
more difficult than it really is.
And this perceived difficulty will increase,
but only until you get familiar
with this new activity.
Then you will be able to systematize things
and after that, everything will happen much more easily
and you will be able to do a lot more things
in this same hour. Your first hour of deep work
over time will no longer be as deep
as at the beginning. This is why you must
persevere and refine your system with time.
And then, once you start to see results
with this first hour of work,
you move it into the blocks of time of priority number 2
in order to start working
on something new.
So then, we move on to priority number 2
and this is where the tasks are
that have a powerful lever effect.
Now the third block of time
is also intended for lever effect tasks,
creative tasks or useful tasks.
These are the things you don't want to delegate.
For example, I will never delegate my writing.
The third block of time
is there just to continue to maintain
this momentum whatever you build.
And it doesn't matter what you build.
And to finish, the fourth block of time
or priority number 4
is dedicated to maintenance tasks.
For me, it's about
checking my messages, answering my messages,
checking my emails, answering my emails,
reading the comments of my community
and interacting with them.
It's at that moment of the day that I expose myself to people.
And it may seem a little weird
said like that, but if you expose yourself
to your messages, your phone
or your notifications too early in the morning,
a wrong thought will be born in your mind.
And it's a thought that you could judge as being
unimportant when you have it for the first time.
Which is that I can touch my phone in the morning
and still work well the rest of the day.
No, you can't, because it started to take up
space in your mind. And then, this single fact
will divide your attention and open the way
to entropy. That is to say that your mind
will start to think about all kinds of things
without you even deciding.
And here's the thing. You probably think
that it's normal, that it happens to you
often and that it doesn't prevent you from working well.
But it's a mistake.
So to solve this problem, you push
all the conversation and maintenance tasks
to the fourth priority.
And so, for all these tasks,
I like to structure blocks of 45 to 90 minutes each
for priority 1, 2, 3 and 4.
And between each block of time,
I take a break.
I prepare myself to eat or I take a walk
of 30 to 40 minutes, listening to something
while I walk. For walks,
personally, it's rather at the end of the day.
But, in short, we've done the trick.
There's no reason for me to review
exactly every little thing I do during my days.
Because all the pleasure related to this
comes from experimentation
and the creation of a method
that we like to follow while testing
a new technique.
