We're here at the Bike Shed on club night, and I'm really chuffed that tonight is the
night when we can reveal CCM will be taking up residence at the Bike Shed, so you can
come here and see their bikes any time.
We've got three bikes here tonight, and then they'll be leaving one of these on this display
stand for the foreseeable future.
Dan, come in a bit closer and let's have another look.
So the CCM Spitfire is a bike that's been built by breaking all the rules, which we
love.
They're built in limited runs of less than 150, because that gets rid of the noise, and
less than 150, because that gets them around all of that messy homologation stuff that
most manufacturers have to deal with, and stops them having to certify each bike individually
by model in each country in which they're sold.
So this bike is built a little bit more in the spirit of custom bike building, and that
means what you won't see is catalytic converters, airboxes, and all of the other kind of guff
that we spend ages and huge amounts of money removing from our motorcycles.
What you end up with is something that's beautifully simple, a stunningly welded frame,
a fantastic engine which I think comes from the Husqvarna 630TE, so 600cc power plant,
a really short run straight through pipe with removable baffles, and the whole thing weighs
just 120 kilos with front and back suspension from WP, and it looks like a custom bike.
It's a fantastic looking thing.
This was the original model, and after these sold out in the first two weeks, they realised
that the only way to sell more was to build a variant of the same thing, and create a
new model.
So the next bike they built, Dan if you follow me, I'll have to get in Ming's way, this was
the second iteration of the models, this is the Scrambler, and to all intents and purposes
it's the same bike but with slightly different wheels, different tyres, a bit more knobbly,
a high front guard, and a longer seat which meant you could actually get two people on
the bike, and a high level pipe.
But essentially it's the same thing, it's also gorgeous, and these have also sold out.
So follow me because the next one is my favourite.
This is the flat track version of the CCM, and I have to say for me this one is the prettiest
of the lot.
It seems like every time they build another one it just gets a little bit nicer each time.
This bike again, same basic frame, same engine, same tank, slightly different positions in
the way everything's set up, and these gorgeous cast wheels.
What really makes this bike work for me is the seat unit.
It's just really really pretty, full carbon fibre in a flat track configuration, and with
these two into two pipes, on the proper right side so you don't scrape them when you're
turning left on the track, I just think this looks absolutely perfect.
I don't know why this one hasn't sold out yet, I certainly know they're selling quick,
but this is absolutely my favourite, and this is the one that I want to have a go on.
If you want to see one of these bikes in the flesh, just get yourself down to the bike
shed.
We'll always have at least one on display.
You can sit on them, you can check out the quality of the components, you can see what
they look like in proper three dimensions, face to face.
It's a gorgeous looking bike.
