Loki season 2, episode 3, director Kasra Farahani has commented on the March 2023 arrest of Jonathan Majors and his appearance as Victor Timely.
Jonathan Majors debuted in the MCU as he who remains in Loki season 1's finale
before appearing as Kang the Conqueror in Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania.
Majors' villain has been set up as the primary antagonist of the MCU's
multiverse saga, but this destiny was thrown into jeopardy when Jonathan
Majors was arrested on allegations of assault.
I need to know why.
While Marvel Studios has stayed fairly quiet on these allegations and Majors'
future role in the MCU, several figures at the studio have provided comments on
the developing case. During a recent interview with Variety, Loki series
director Kasra Farahani spoke about the allegations. Farahani briefly noted that
it was a surprise to learn of Majors' arrest. He went on to say that he had a
positive experience on set without any drama, adding,
as my first big directing opportunity, I count myself so fortunate to be working with such
high-caliber actors. Production for Loki season 2 took place between June and
October 2022, meaning filming had already wrapped by Jonathan Majors'
arrest on March 25th, 2023. Executive producer Kevin Wright confirmed Loki
season 2 would not undergo additional photography, a first for a Marvel
Studios series, and that Majors would have an integral role in the series.
Production on the season was nearly over by the time of Majors' arrest, so it may
have been impractical to remove him. Majors' future as the multiverse saga's
overarching villain is uncertain after Loki season 2, though the actor is
currently billed to appear in 2026's Avengers The Kang Dynasty. For now, Majors
is expected to appear in the remainder of Loki season 2.
