Welcome back to Hai Trieu!
When we talk about a Subaru,
like this Forester here,
some people don't know that this is a Chinese car.
What?
Some people care about this Subaru,
but they don't care about the options,
such as EyeSight, Autofocus and Autonomous Distance.
No, no, no.
All of those things are not important
when we talk about a Subaru.
But when we talk about a Subaru,
there are only two things that exist,
which are the Boxer engine
and the all-wheel drive system.
All the other things are not important.
So today, we won't talk about this Boxer engine,
which has a low center of gravity.
It's not today's topic.
Maybe it's a topic for another video.
Today, we will talk about the all-wheel drive system
of the Subaru Forester,
the CBT version,
just like the one I have here.
Let's see if it's as good as we think.
Let's start!
Subaru has always been the leader
in the all-wheel drive system.
Such as WRX and STI,
which are the symbols
of the four-wheel drive system of Subaru.
Speaking of the name SAWD,
it's the abbreviation of
Stramatical All-Wheel Drive,
which means the four-wheel drive system.
If you look from the bottom of the car,
you will see a steering column
which helps the car to have a very balanced weight distribution.
Stramatical All-Wheel Drive is a standard equipment
for all Subaru models.
However, Subaru does not use the same system.
When you hear someone say that
the Forester CBT has a 50-50 weight distribution,
or that the Forester also has an all-wheel drive system
like the STI,
it's not true.
The 50-50 weight distribution system
for the Subaru front and rear wheels
is only available on the models
that use the SOSAN gearbox.
The Forester SOSAN uses this system,
but the CBT does not.
The All-Wheel Drive system on this car
is called ATS,
which stands for Active Torque Split.
The engine will transfer the torque to the front wheel
through a central clutch,
which will transfer the torque to the rear wheel.
This central clutch is not considered
to be the center of the V-side.
This clutch is called Active
because it actively adjusts the torque ratio
between the front and rear wheels.
However, the difference between
the four-wheel drive system of Subaru
and other All-Wheel Drive systems
on the market now is that
with a Subaru, all four wheels
are always driven
in all road conditions.
For example, a CR-V All-Wheel Drive version
will only be activated
in the case that
the wheels are shaking
and the torque is transferred
to the rear wheels
to increase the traction.
This can cause slow intervention
in emergency situations.
With Subaru Forester,
all four wheels always receive the torque
to maximize the traction
and always take the initiative
in all situations.
With Forester, according to the announcement,
the torque ratio between
the front and rear wheels
is 60-40.
This means that the torque ratio
will always be changed
because this is an active system.
For example,
when we stop on the red light
and then accelerate to full speed,
the torque ratio can now
increase to 50-50.
The reason is that
when we accelerate suddenly,
the center of gravity of the car
will be pushed into the rear axle.
Therefore, the torque ratio
will be 50-50 for the front and rear wheels.
An all-wheel-drive car
will bring a more stable driving experience
than a two-wheel-drive car
or a one-wheel-drive car.
With a front-wheel-drive car,
the front axle
can lead to an understeer
when entering the corner.
The front wheels slip out of the road
and lose control.
A rear-wheel-drive car
will have an oversteer
and lose traction on the road.
With an all-wheel-drive car
with an all-wheel-drive system,
the car will gain traction
when entering the corner.
For example,
in the case of understeer,
the torque ratio will be increased
to balance the car.
Or when the torque ratio
in the rear wheels
leads to understeer,
the torque ratio will be increased
to lead to understeer.
In the case of oversteer,
the torque ratio will be increased
to balance the car.
Personally, I'm driving
a Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4 AWD.
Mitsubishi calls this system
a four-wheel-drive,
but it's actually an all-wheel-drive.
Mitsubishi calls this four-wheel-drive
a AWC,
which means all-wheel-control.
The difference is that
the Outlander can choose the Eco mode,
which means it runs
in a time-saving AWD mode,
just like the CR-V AWD
and the Auto mode,
which means it runs
in a time-saving AWD mode,
just like the Subaru Forester.
The only difference is
the torque ratio
between the front and the rear wheels.
The Forester uses a hydraulic clutch,
while the Outlander
uses an electronic clutch
to transfer the torque
between the front and the rear wheels.
We'll talk about this topic
in another video.
Now, let's talk about the X-Mode,
which is a must-have feature
when it comes to Subaru's
all-wheel-drive and AWD systems.
In the Forester version,
the X-Mode has two modes,
which are Snow, Mud and Deep Snow.
Snow, Mud is the snow
and mud mode.
For example,
when we're climbing a slope
with slippery roads,
the X-Mode will receive information
from the sensor,
which will send the torque
to the wheels.
This will help the car
to overcome difficult situations.
In Snow, Mud,
the traction control is still on,
while in Deep Snow,
the traction control is off.
For example,
when we're in a deep mud,
and all four wheels are slippery,
the traction control will see
all four wheels slipping
and lock all four wheels
so that the car can turn
and cross the terrain.
In addition,
the rear suspension will be changed,
along with keeping the gearbox
at an even gear ratio with low speed,
which helps the torque
to the wheels more.
In addition, the X-Mode will also
help drivers in difficult situations,
such as going down a steep slope.
By turning on the X-Mode,
it will automatically help the car
go down the slope slowly
and affect the gear ratio.
And that's all I want to share
about the traction control system
on the Subaru Forester,
the CVT version that is being sold
in the Vietnamese market.
I hope that through this video,
you can understand more
about this car.
This Forester is probably
one of the most popular cars
in the Vietnamese market.
So if you're interested in this car,
you should know
more about the traction control system
of this car.
It's better than other systems
on the market.
And why do we buy a Subaru
instead of another car?
Another topic about Subaru
is probably about the boxer engine
of this car.
See you in another video.
