Hey, what's up?
It's like pitch black.
We've arrived in...
You need to put a ******* light on mate.
Oh, really?
So here we are.
Ho Chi Minh.
Correct pronunciation.
Terrible pronunciation.
This is our home hotel.
We're loving it.
What do you love about it?
The bed is like a rock.
No, it's good.
It's clean.
The sheets are clean.
It's ******* fantastic.
It's colder here in the fridge.
Yeah.
Happy days.
Can't really complain.
Ho Chi Minh.
Outside our hotel.
There's the motorbikes.
Look at them.
They're everywhere.
They swarm.
Chicken.
Meat.
Beef.
How is it baby?
Pretty bloody good.
What are you having?
I'm having beef pho.
Having pho?
For breakfast?
Pronunciation.
That is my pronunciation at that moment.
Here.
Crazy.
Quite yummy though.
Lots of ice.
What was it called?
It's called Cafe Sua.
Yep.
Kimchi.
Second or third of December.
Neil is writing his note in the note cafe in Hanoi.
He wrote a very silly one first.
This is the silly one.
How much ink has been wasted on notes in this cafe?
Like how many animals have perished?
Squid?
Oh my god, help me.
What do you think baby?
Yeah?
They are so oily and delicious and yum.
Hardly any.
Hardly anything.
Here's another safety first video on the edge of the scaffold.
We're doing the Uber tourist thing.
Eating with Where Obama Ate.
I think this might be in his place setting.
That's funny.
Just sitting down with the mates.
Mr. Bourdain.
Mr. Obama.
Opening a beer Hanoi.
Oh yummy beer.
Here it is.
If I can open it.
About to eat some Hun Char.
Hun Char?
Hun Char.
Do you have to tell us your name again?
Do you like football?
Do I like football?
Oh yeah, I like football.
Do you know who I support?
John.
Australia.
Yes.
I think.
Definitely safety first here.
Safety first.
So right now we are waiting for the Scotland cruise.
Just around the laptop.
So we're heading off to the National Fine Arts Museum.
Down this road.
Haven't been down this road before.
Or at least this section of it anyway.
So happy days.
Leigh just checking out some bread.
Or was it beard?
Cheese pastry right there.
That little one.
But they call them a cookie.
Cookie, right.
And it's from the beard shop.
Is that what it said?
Yeah.
The beard shop.
Kind of a little lane way.
It's paved.
I mean bikes ride down here still.
But it's pretty cool.
Don't really know what it is.
25.
A black sheep.
Wonder what happens in there.
So we just kind of randomly wandered off down the street.
And we found that train street place by accident.
And we just heard the train sound.
So it's coming in a second.
Now I've got to get in the shot.
Here it comes.
I mean this is absolute pandas.
Transport for New South Wales.
You've got some work to do.
Also you need to replace your headlights.
That is crazy.
Look how close it is to the thing down there.
Now the train's just gone.
Here's all the cars that have banked up.
It's just incredible.
Safety first.
So this line that you're looking at at the moment
is like the back end of the entrance to the Ho Jim.
Probably two k's long.
Right?
If you think about where we are now getting back to the...
And it sort of winds around.
We're going to give the old Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
a bit of a wide berth I think.
We'll do the walking tour around the perimeter.
Yeah.
So we seem to have found ourselves in the middle of like
school tours to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum.
And there are kids everywhere.
In uniform on a Sunday.
It's crazy.
Hello.
This is crazy kind of back street that we found ourselves in
after Ho Chi Minh with a nice little pond.
Yeah.
It's these like crazy laneways with all this like incredible
telecommunications work above us here.
Absolutely bonkers.
So we're in a place called Kho To.
Kho To.
Can't remember the second part of it.
But anyway.
Let's just call it Kho To.
So it's a training center in Hanoi
which gives people at risk and disadvantaged youth
the opportunity to break the poverty cycle.
So we're here at Kho To.
I'm trying to look at myself but these glasses are not cutting it.
Which is really sad.
Anyway.
Cool place.
Lee's just having an amazing tea.
There it is.
It's got ginger and honey and lemon right.
Enjoying it?
And this apparently is Sauvignon Blanc.
I'm not so sure.
So we're here at the Temple of Literature.
All these guys are graduating.
Awesome stuff.
Hello.
Congratulations.
Well done.
You passed.
Yeah.
We've just come into the final square of the Temple of Literature
which celebrates education.
And then all around us here, there's more kids here.
They're all graduating.
And there's the obligatory guy with the massive cameras.
What did you call this again?
It was the Temple or the College for Small Boys or something?
Or College for Boys?
College.
Right.
Lee's just got some tea.
I think it is.
Is it tea?
Well.
Lemon and lemonade watery stuffy.
That'll be cool.
Check it out.
Oh my God.
What?
It's like fresh lemonade.
Is it?
Yeah.
Can I have a shot?
$20,000 which is like.
That's ridiculous.
Pizza.
A very traditional Vietnamese style.
Pizza.
Pho Co.
Which will be delicious.
And mine is just as weird.
It's this way.
There it is.
There we go.
The Salmon Miso Cream.
So traditional.
And it comes recommended.
Very quiet.
6.30.
It's very quiet on the streets.
Oh, this is really quiet.
Ridiculously quiet.
What were you saying then?
Motorbikes?
They're okay.
A little bit of calisthenics in the morning.
Very good.
Tai Chi.
A little bit of cha-cha-cha up the other end.
A little wolfie.
Come over to say hello.
Yeah, he likes it.
I've already patted him.
Have you?
Yeah.
Eating in a tourist trap.
I'm sorry.
Drinking coffee in a tourist trap.
Yeah, and I'll do that now.
Because right opposite us is...
Jesus.
I have to stir up the condensed milk from the bottom.
Or it just looks black.
It's no good though.
Yeah, that's where we're going.
Get some Banh Mi Mama.
She just whisked up some eggs and something.
I don't know.
I'm not sure.
No.
The old secret in the sandwich toaster.
Who'da thunk it?
What do you think baby?
Really good.
So this is the...
We've stumbled upon the market street.
Oh yeah.
A little bit of fish.
Rice.
It's really easy to forget to look up.
Like in these sorts of places.
You spend your life looking down at all the food that's in this street.
Crazy architecture.
It's ---- hanging off everything.
Wow.
This is metal street.
But everything you want metal, cooking wise.
Mailboxes.
Big steel vats.
Toolboxes.
Watering cans.
What else? They've got chimneys.
And kind of all made like this.
There's a takeaway shop over there.
But if you want, you don't have to take away.
You can just eat in here.
Which is pretty cool.
Pan Mee.
Pronounced correctly.
Lots of meat.
Lots and lots of meat.
Lots of five spice.
I got a good kick of chilli in mine as well.
Yeah.
Nice.
Different to the other one.
I like this one better I think.
I think I like the other one better.
Awkward bugger.
I like the coriander.
Yeah.
I got coriander in this one.
Yeah.
So, this is Christmas Street.
Check it out.
Little streets I should say.
I mean, look at that up there.
It's just Christmas ---- everywhere.
Everywhere.
Look at this stuff.
Donuts.
I don't know what they've got in them.
Here's the lady making them.
What's inside it baby?
Oh yeah.
What's this one?
I don't know.
I presume that's the Hanoi flag that you see up there.
Love a lantern.
This is like when you'd walk for motorbikes.
Lots of official ---- going on here.
Also, Opera House.
It's a bit different to the normal shape with the sails.
Can't go in there.
We've got a model over here doing the North Face Gucci.
On the top.
Probably can't read it.
But it is something else.
What is it?
Breakfast 3?
Breakfast 5.
No this is brunch.
Using fancy words like brunch.
One home.
Ate at this place.
Bloody delicious.
Third breakfast for the day.
I feel a bit full.
What about you?
So what have we eaten today baby?
So far.
We've just only had 5 meals.
5 things.
Not meals.
We went to
Banh Mi Mua.
Yeah.
Delicious.
Then we went to
See if we could do a Donuts in between.
No.
Then we went to Banh Mi 25.
Then we went to
Donut King.
No.
One Donut place.
Then another Donut place.
Then to
And then
Pho Thin.
Thin.
We only had like
We didn't have 2 bowls.
We had like 1 bowl.
We had 1 Banh Mi.
And we had the
Breaded Donut things.
That go with it.
Delicious.
The best thing
It's only quarter to 11
In the morning.
But we need to sleep now.
They're testing out a little bit of
French influence
In Hanoi.
Boulangerie
Samarie
Torture
By boba balls.
I can't even get that through this time.
Oh so close.
Come on baby.
You can do it.
Get that ball.
Ready for the explosion.
Come on baby.
Do it.
My mouth hurts.
Deciding what to eat.
I'm going to get these ones.
Which ones?
This one.
Yeah?
Best stuff has arrived.
I mean
This all looks ******* awesome.
A little bit busy in Vietnam.
In Hanoi.
Right now.
The lake at night.
That's gorgeous.
Absolutely gorgeous.
No wind.
Or teeny teeny tiny little bit.
Just beautiful.
Lovely night.
Beautiful night.
Walking around the lake.
And that is
That's kind of heading back towards
Our hotel.
We just
Look at that.
It's all very low lying
But such
Beautiful
Scenery.
We haven't seen it
Well we've seen it before
But it hasn't been lit up
This massive blue clock.
It's a little bit of a
Lantern Christmas tree.
Next to
Kind of higher end
Restaurant.
Did he just say that did he?
I was going to say higher end restaurant
But they just shouted tequila.
Having some
Phở
To start with.
Some lime
Vinegar
Chili
Chili times two
And we're going to get
Chin
Garlic
So we're recording.
Testing one two
So what was your highlight of
Hanoi?
My highlight was
Of food
All of the yummy food
Walking around the lake
Early in the morning
Middle of the day
On the weekend
At night
Talking to students
That was pretty funny
Just walking
Walking everywhere
Yeah we walked everywhere
What about you?
I think
The food tour on the first night
I really loved
Zui was great
He was pretty cool
Took us around
Showed us lots of different things
Still really enjoyed
That first dish we had
Nem Nuong
Yeah
Obviously great pronunciation
Once again
I also like walking around as well
The Bun Cha restaurant
Was delicious
Not what I expected
Like food
Flavor wise
Phở was good
The Banh Mi we had yesterday
We tried two different sorts
Banh Mi
And Banh Mi 25
And obviously
Good pronunciation once again
Hotel was good
Hotel was very good
Where we are
Good location
On the outskirts
Of the old quarter
Not too noisy
You can walk everywhere
We walked between
10 and 15 km every day
Yeah we have
And we slept well
We slept well
And also the randomness
Of the train
That was quite fun
Oh yeah
Just rocking up at the right time
To see the train
Go through the middle of the town
And kind of
Miss
Shops by this much
So it was good
It's been a great
And now we are off to
Ha Long Bay
Yes
Which will also be
Mintox
Hanoi
Thumbs up
Thumbs up Hanoi
