Update: This stain was applied in 2015. It is now 2019 and I will be adding a maintenance coat soon. The stain still looks gI will start by saying this is not my best tutorial video. Weather did not permit me to record the entire process. For that reason, I will explain the missing process here.

The tools used and quality of stain are key in getting a good coat of stain on your deck. I used Armstrong Clark Oxford Brown Semi-Solid stain for a number of reasons(not a paid product placement). The deck was thoroughly cleaned with the Restore-A-Deck system prior to staining. I began with the spindles and railing because I knew this area would take the longest. I used the staining mitt and flex pad on these areas. I used a cheap brush in areas neither of the other tools would reach. I then used the wide staining pad on a pole to stain the deck surface. Always make sure you stain each board end to end so you do not get lap marks. I stained about 3 boards at a time and used a brush to get in the cracks between the boards. Make sure you put a drop cloth under the deck because stain will drip. Please post any questions you have in the comment section below.

Stain Mitt: https://amzn.to/2IC1RtH
I used a stain mitt to stain the cracks and crevices.

Flex Staining Pad: https://amzn.to/2IFWRo2
I used the flex pad to stain the spindles and many other flat surfaces. Its a must have for tight areas.

Stain Pad: https://amzn.to/2Zwf0cT
Telescoping Pole: https://amzn.to/2ITvSEM
I like an adjustable extension pole because it can adapt to different areas or different people. A 9" pad is nice because it covers a large area but is still manageable and fits in most standard paint trays.

UVEX Safety Goggles: https://amzn.to/2IEldhA
I've started using better safety goggle since shooting this video. I also do woodworking and these are the best in the business in my opinion. They are way more comfortable that the Dewalt brand competitor you see many people wearing. Tip: If you have ski or snowboarding goggles, they will work also.
