Hi. Good evening, everyone. I'm Khoai. Welcome to Khoai Lang Thang channel.
I'm in Taipei, Taiwan.
Behind me is the night market of Niu Ha Street,
one of the most famous night markets in Taiwan.
I'm always excited to go to the night market
because there are always a lot of food.
Today is a rainy day.
Although it's raining, I still see a lot of people going to the night market.
This is one of the oldest night markets in Taiwan.
The market is a walking street.
It's about 600-700 meters long.
They sell a lot of food here,
food for hundreds of years.
Today, I'm going to enjoy all of these food.
Just enter the market, you will see a place selling
pepper buns.
Black pepper buns, also called Hu Xao Bin,
is one of the types of baked buns
which is quite famous in Taiwan.
They will use flour and fill it with pork filling
mixed with a lot of black pepper and sesame oil.
Because it has a lot of black pepper, so people call it pepper buns.
Then he will dip the whole bun into the onion basket
and wrap it up.
There will be a lot of scallions in it
and they will put it in the oven and bake it.
I have eaten this once before,
next to Dai Tuong Dien, in Gia Thanh.
The skin will be quite hard.
The skin is very hot and smells of pepper and scallions.
This is one of the very famous shops here.
You will see a lot of people lining up
to wait to buy black pepper buns
and Hu Xao Bin.
The special point when holding the bun is that it is very hot,
very hot and smells of sesame
and sesame oil.
It's still too hot.
I will wait a little longer for it to cool down
because the filling is even hotter.
If you eat it too fast, it will break your teeth.
My mother always says that.
I have eaten a lot of black pepper buns in Taipei
but this shop is one of the oldest
and very famous shops here.
You can see that normally on weekends, people have to line up for a long time
and it takes about 15-20 minutes to buy a bun.
Because it is too crowded and the service is like a family
so the quality of the service is not as good as expected.
It's a little bit burnt.
The bun smells of pepper
and the taste is sweet.
There are a lot of layers on the bun.
The outer layer is a bit hard
and the surface that sticks to the filling is harder.
There are a lot of scallions in here.
The filling of this bun is almost like the smell of steamed buns
that we often eat in Vietnam.
The smell of pepper and scallions is stronger.
It's very hot. You can see the smoke coming up.
This bun doesn't have a lot of pepper
like the black pepper buns in other places.
And the taste is easier to eat.
I think it's partly because the tourists here buy too much
so the shop owner may have adjusted the recipe a little
to make it more suitable for international customers.
Now I will focus on eating my bun.
I will go to the market over there.
There are a lot of food waiting for me today.
It's so hot that I can't speak.
There is a corn shop here
in a Taiwanese style.
The corn has a lot of spices.
First of all, she will weigh the corn
and then calculate the price.
My corn is 90 TWD.
She also sells watermelons.
These watermelons have been peeled
and boiled.
Here.
He will have some...
Spicy?
Yes.
Medium?
Yes.
Put it in that grill.
It's very convenient.
There is chili sauce,
soy sauce,
and BBQ sauce.
He will use the pan
to fry the outside.
After frying the burnt part,
he will spread the sauce on it.
A little bit of black soy sauce.
Then he will put it in there
and grill it again.
Then take it out
and spread the BBQ sauce on it.
Wow.
In his sauce,
I think he mixed some kind of flour
so when he grilled it,
the shell of the corn started to shrink
and shrink.
And if you eat spicy food,
you should eat it with chili sauce.
The red corn is mine.
The other one is normal corn.
Thank you. See you.
Bye.
This is my corn.
90 TWD.
I will go to the corner to eat it.
It looks delicious.
Why is my corn
in a hole?
How many percent did I lose?
I just bought a 90 TWD corn
It's about 70,000 VND.
It's very expensive here.
But
this is one of the most famous corn in Taiwan.
They will put a sauce on it
and it looks very delicious.
But it's a little bit red.
I said it was just spicy.
But I don't know why
I think it's very spicy.
My corn is in a hole.
I smell chili.
It smells like it's spoiled.
The outer layer
is quite spicy.
It's a little bit salty.
It smells like soy sauce.
And there is a little bit of
the smell of spices in it.
I think it's a little bit bitter
because this corn is a little burnt.
When I grilled it,
I removed the burnt skin
and grilled it again.
But I still see a lot of burnt spots here.
It reminds me of
the grilled corn with scallion oil in Vietnam.
I prefer the grilled corn with scallion oil in Vietnam.
It's a little bit unfair.
But if you come here,
you can try this.
It's a very special grilled corn.
It's different from the one in Vietnam.
It's a good choice to eat grilled corn in the rain.
It's spicy.
There is a cute dog here.
Hello.
It's so aggressive.
It's okay.
No wonder
it's so aggressive.
This is a food market.
There are a lot of food here.
From the beginning to the end of the street,
you can find hundreds of shops
and dozens of food here.
When I went to Ximending,
I only saw a lot of clothes, shoes and shoes.
There were not many food like this.
I can smell the stinky tofu.
Believe me.
I can smell the stinky tofu somewhere here.
I'll find the stinky tofu shop immediately.
It seems to be over there.
Stinky tofu.
It's exactly the stinky tofu shop
that has created the smell for a long time.
You can see
there are a lot of food shops here.
People have tables and chairs
to sit like this.
I can see this man is selling ribs soup.
He's scooping it for me.
There is a big pot of ribs.
Wow.
It looks like a bone.
Wow.
There are a lot of ribs,
cartilage and bones in the pot of soup.
Hello, everyone.
I'm Khoai.
I've just entered the soup shop.
It's called rib soup
or cartilage soup.
He said
this is the best soup in Taipei.
He's the best seller.
I've ordered a soup like this.
It's 75 TWD. It smells so good.
I'll eat it right now.
I can still smell the stinky tofu
from the shop next to me.
I've just passed by
and I can still smell it 20-30 meters away.
I eat stinky tofu every day
for 3-4 meals a day
so I can still smell it.
The more I eat, the more I smell it.
I don't know why.
I'll try the soup now.
It's a little bit dark
and brownish.
It's like there are some herbs in it.
It smells so good.
It smells like herbs
and herbs.
It's very special.
There are a lot of cartilage,
but there's still some meat around.
There are ribs
and mainly ribs.
It's called cartilage
but there's still a lot of meat.
It's very suitable for those
who like to eat ribs.
I'm so talkative.
Who likes to eat ribs?
I'll try the soup first.
The soup is very special
because when you swallow it,
you can feel the sweetness in your throat
It's like a sweet tea.
Maybe he added some herbs
to make the soup sweeter.
It feels like I'm drinking a tea
not a soup.
It smells like pork.
It's very special.
I'll try this cartilage.
Can you see it?
There's a lot of ribs
and a little bit of meat around.
When I was a kid, my mom used to buy
these cartilage to cook soup
for us to eat.
This is my childhood food.
This is cartilage.
It's very crunchy.
The meat is quite fatty
because there's a little bit of fat
in the ribs.
There's a thin layer of meat around.
There's a layer of fat, meat and tendon
because this is the ribs.
The bones
have been stewed for a long time
so I can chew the bones.
I really like the cartilage
in the bones.
When I was a kid,
I always chewed the cartilage.
The cartilage is very sweet.
If you ever come to this market,
remember to come here
to try his soup.
It may not be suitable for Vietnamese people
but the flavor is very special.
It feels like I'm drinking a tea
or a tea soup.
Now I'm going to eat my cartilage
and then visit this market again.
It's raining today
so there won't be many customers.
I can see they're selling
Bạch Tuột,
Bạch Tuột Lớp Xoáy and Bạch Tuột Nướng.
I'm buying her grilled squid.
She's cutting it for me.
She'll put some pepper powder
and chili powder on top.
Then it's done.
It smells so good.
I can smell the squid, chili powder
and pepper.
I'm going to try the first one.
This is the most attractive dish
I've ever seen.
The squid is quite crispy
but a bit salty.
I can smell the soy sauce.
They often use soy sauce
to marinate the food.
The squid is very crispy.
I don't know why
but the squid in Taiwan
is very crispy.
I don't know if they have their own secret
or they soak the squid in water
to make it more crispy.
It's a bit spicy
but it's not that spicy.
I told her to put some chili powder
but she didn't listen to me.
They also add some pickled cucumber
or cucumber salad
to balance the sour and sweet taste.
It'll be better.
Anyway, the squid is very crispy and delicious.
I'm so hungry.
I'm going to eat the squid
and walk around here.
Although it's raining,
there are many people carrying umbrellas
to go to the night market.
In Vietnam, if it rains,
people will hide at home and sleep.
Pickled cucumber
and snail.
I saw that he put a frozen snail on it
so I decided not to eat it
because I knew it was frozen.
I'm so sorry.
She's cutting the scallion cake.
Oh, it's a giant scallion cake.
It's as big as a pizza.
Normally, people cut the scallion cake into small pieces.
This is a very big scallion cake
and she'll cut it into small pieces
to sell to customers.
It's called scallion cake because
it has scallion inside.
This is
fried pork,
fried chicken,
fried shrimp,
beef,
and fruits.
I'll buy a glass of fruit juice.
I've been thirsty for a long time.
There is cucumber juice.
People here often drink cucumber juice.
The cucumber here is very strange
because it's very big and white.
She's squeezing the cucumber juice.
It's strange, isn't it?
Add honey.
Yes.
She'll add a little sugar.
Stir it.
You can drink it now.
Thank you.
This is cucumber juice.
It's 60 TWD.
She's so cute.
I don't understand what she's saying.
I'll try it now.
This cucumber has only the smell of cucumber.
The bitter taste is very light.
It's just a little bitter.
It's quite good to drink.
It seems a little hard,
but I think it's very good for health.
The brown sugar is honey.
It's not sugar.
I thought it was brown sugar,
but it's not.
It's honey mixed with cucumber juice.
It's very special.
Now I understand why
Taiwanese people like to drink this juice.
Now I'll go around.
I'll come back here later to support her.
Here is a pot of Phá Lấu.
A big pot of Phá Lấu.
There are also
corn,
ginger
and eggs.
I'll come back later
to support her.
If I don't support her,
I don't know where to go.
Here in Taiwan, everyone is very cute.
Everyone is smiling and happy.
They are not afraid of being filmed.
If I film them,
they won't be annoyed.
Here there are
squid,
shrimp,
and fish.
You can see that just go and see the food.
If I go to Ximending market,
I'll buy some shoes.
This is a grilled snail that I just ate.
There are also
fried scallops,
seafood, clams,
and potato.
There are a lot of food,
so I'll go around.
I'll come back later to support her.
This is a kind of cake,
like coconut cake in Taiwan.
It has red bean and peanut filling.
This is black sesame filling.
Can you see
that it is very familiar?
It is very similar to the coconut cake
in Saigon.
There are also 2 layers of cake.
In the middle is coconut filling
and peanut.
Here they use red bean,
black sesame and peanut.
The cakes I see are very similar.
I'll order this cake and try it.
I just bought a cake.
It looks like Vietnamese coconut cake.
It has red bean,
black sesame and peanut filling.
I'll order a black sesame cake.
I'll try it.
The outside of the cake is similar to Vietnamese coconut cake.
This cake is more chewy.
Vietnamese coconut cake is a little
spongy.
It is a little crunchy.
This cake is very chewy.
It is similar to Vietnamese coconut cake.
It is very similar to Vietnamese coconut cake.
It is very fragrant.
It is 9 p.m.
I'm quite full.
It is a pity that it is raining today.
So the number of vendors is not as many as usual.
But thanks to that,
I can have less queuing
at famous restaurants.
Now I'll go back to the hotel
Don't forget to watch my video.
See you tomorrow.
Don't forget to subscribe, like and support me.
Don't forget to share if you like this video.
Bye.
I'm standing at Songshan Metro Station.
You can see that
usually at public stations,
famous buildings
or famous restaurants,
they all have a sign like this.
For tourists coming here,
they can have a notebook
to put a sign to commemorate.
There are thousands of places like this all over Taiwan.
If you want to collect
a notebook like this,
you can buy a notebook.
You can bring a notebook
to these places
to put a sign to commemorate.
It is a very cute way to keep it.
Usually in this area,
they also put paper,
but I don't see it here.
This is the right way.
I was a little bit awkward.
But it's okay.
This is a picture of a pagoda.
Songshan Pagoda is near here.
And there is a lady
standing and looking down the well.
Maybe it is a monument of this pagoda.
Goodbye, everyone.
I'm Khoai.
