Mình là Khoai. Thích du lịch và ăn uống.
Hi, good morning everyone. I'm Khoai. Welcome to Khoai Lang Thang channel.
It's about 8 am in Hue city.
I'm at Ngoi Nga Nam floating market, one of the most famous floating market in the West.
I'm at Binh Thien lake.
It's a very special lake.
Why? Because the water of the lake is always clear, even though it is connected to the Hau river.

Khoai Lang Thang Food & Travel
Ladies and gentlemen, this is the owner of the clips that you like very much.
Let's welcome Khoai Lang Thang.
Yes, hello Ms. Oc Thanh Van.
Hello to the audience of the show Vui Song Moi Ngay.
Now let's ask about the name.
Khoai Lang Thang.
People usually have sweet potatoes, potatoes, fried potatoes, etc.
Khoai Lang Thang is a new type of sweet potato, right?
Actually, the name Khoai Lang Thang is a nickname since I was a child.
When I was a child, my name was Hoai Phuong.
My friends in the West often called me Hoai Phuong.
My friends often called me Vuong Khoai.
Vuong Khoai is a nickname that my friends used to tease me when I was in grade 2.
Gradually, everyone called me Khoai.
Then when I grew up, I wanted to do something about tourism and cuisine.
Suddenly, I found the name Khoai Lang Thang very familiar.
It's very Vietnamese.
That's why I named it Khoai Lang Thang.
You just had a trip to Hue, right?
Yes, that's right.
Tell me a little bit about your trip.
Actually, the trip to Hue was one of the trips that I found very interesting.
First, I got to eat a lot of food from Hue.
And I got to meet a lot of people there.
And especially in Hue, the people who sell dragon food sell very delicious food.
And most of the people who sell dragon food are old people.
And they sell that food for 30, 40, even 50 years.
Even in the dragon food stalls in Hue,
there are a lot of people who sell a lot of food.
And you can find a lot of traditional Hue food there.
There is one dish that I really like there, it's Hue beef noodle soup.
My mom used to sell beef noodle soup in front of the yard.
And everyone gathered to eat.
Now my mom doesn't sell it anymore.
She left it for her daughter to sell in a rented house.
And it's only 20,000-25,000 VND per bowl.
There are a lot of things in there.
And it's only open from 7am to 9am.
So, since when did you have the idea that you would go all over the country
and introduce to people about Vietnam's tourism and cuisine?
Actually, I've loved tourism and food since I was a kid.
When I was in the 3rd grade of university, I started working part-time.
Every time I worked part-time, I would save some money for a trip.
Gradually, it became my passion.
When I was a student, I studied construction engineering.
But after working for 2-3 years in the construction field,
I felt that this was not the field I could pursue for the rest of my life.
So I decided to stop and think about what I have and what I can do.
Then I came up with a plan and started this job.
How many videos have you made so far?
I've made more than 90 videos.
Actually, there are a lot of people on the Internet who are choosing this path.
They also translate a lot, record a lot of videos,
and use their ability to make more attractive videos for the audience.
So, what will you do to make your channel different?
I think the biggest difference is honesty.
Because when I make a video or a film,
I always think that I will try my best to capture the real and natural moments
to make the audience feel the most.
How many people are there in your crew?
Usually, there are me and one more person to support me.
Usually, there are only two people or sometimes just me.
In the future, there will be only me and one more person to support me.
You save a lot of money.
So, you have to do almost everything by yourself.
You have to come up with your own ideas, your own script,
of course, you have to be the main character,
you have to lead the dialogue, you have to write the script,
you have to edit the video, you have to compose the music.
But the most important thing is when I film.
Because my channel focuses on sharing real moments,
natural moments.
And those moments only appear once.
If I miss a moment when I film,
I will never be able to film again.
So, I think when I film,
the most important thing is that I try to capture the most realistic and natural moments.
At first, it was really bad.
At that time, I was very naive
and I didn't have the skills to film,
I didn't have the skills to compose.
I was not confident in front of my camera.
And I was very shy when I met other people looking at me.
But I think thanks to the first clips,
the first courage like that,
it gives me the motivation to improve.
Now, you travel all over Vietnam
to record images about tourism and cuisine.
If I ask you where you are most impressed with,
can you answer this question?
I will answer immediately, definitely the West.
My hometown.
If I was born there,
I would understand more,
I would understand more deeply,
and I would understand things that
I have lived there since I was a child,
but I still don't understand everything.
It's a very strange feeling.
Let me share with you a few dishes
in the West that I find very interesting.
For example, the old pineapple jar.
Have you ever heard of the old pineapple jar?
The old pineapple jar?
I've heard of the old coconut jar.
I know the old coconut jar.
The old jar of the pineapple tree when it is not yet flowering.
Pineapple tree, right?
Yes, the pineapple tree.
Pineapple, pineapple, pineapple.
When the pineapple tree has not yet blossomed,
people take the young part of that tree
to make food.
It can be made into salad.
Cook soup like bamboo shoots.
Or mix salad like coconut jelly.
Or stir-fry it.
It is very delicious, or pour the pancake.
It is one of the specialties
that almost few people know.
Is it in the West or in a province?
It's usually in the West, in the areas where they grow pineapples.
Usually, the pineapples are like a treasure for the guests.
Because the people who grow them don't dare to eat them.
Because a pineapple can only be harvested from a very small tree.
And a meal like that may cost more than 10 pineapples.
And that pineapple will be a pineapple later.
But when people leave, the pineapples are no longer usable.
So most people who grow pineapples don't dare to eat them.
Only when the guests come to their homes, and the guests are very kind,
they go to their homes, cut the pineapples, and take the jar to serve the guests.
So this is a very interesting dish, everyone.
And I am very happy that in that trip to the West, the people there served me a jar of pineapples.
Usually, only in the season of pineapple destruction,
that is, the pineapples that have been planted for a few years,
the pineapples are no longer good, the soil will be discolored.
So the people will destroy it, they will cut all the pineapples and plant a new one.
Then there will be a new jar of pineapple to eat.
And my trip to the West is,
oh, people are planting normally, but they still bring that jar of pineapple to serve me.
So I feel very warm.
That is also the precious thing of the Westerners.
Enthusiastic and passionate.
And one more dish is water chestnut.
Water chestnut?
Have you ever heard of water chestnut?
I know about water chestnut, but I haven't eaten it either.
Water chestnut is usually grown on the shore, right?
Yes.
And water chestnut is a tree that grows naturally in the water.
And this tree is special because,
although it is a specialty of the West,
not many Westerners can eat it.
Not many Westerners can eat it.
Because it only grows in water-soaked fields,
clean water.
And the water is not too high, just a little bit.
In the flooding season,
and only a few months in the flooding season,
in the flooding season, around May, June,
it will start to grow.
And it is only in the area of Long An, Dong Thap, or Giap Ranh, Cuu Chi.
Is it delicious? Is it different from the normal water chestnut?
Yes, it is different.
It is only crunchy and crunchy.
And it has a light smell of herbs in it.
And it is very cool.
It has a smell like water lily.
And when people eat it, they will roll it with braised fish sauce.
Like bean sauce, braised meat, braised fish.
It is very delicious.
Or it is also very delicious to make salad.
I don't know how to eat it, but it sounds so delicious.
At that time, I really liked it.
When I was in the water-soaked fields,
and I was with the people,
and I could hear people talking, I really liked it.
And it is one of the memories of the Western Region that I will never forget.
But you are quite well-built.
You eat a lot and travel a lot, so you are not fat, right?
I only have one face.
It is also because of the angle of filming.
I told the cameraman to film me.
Or when I set the angle,
I took a lot of selfies, I filmed myself a lot.
But I know how to choose a beautiful angle.
When I make a vlog, I have to ignore the beauty.
If I am afraid of being ugly, I will not be able to do it.
But I see that when you make those clips,
how do you get close to people and get their trust?
The easiest way is to open your heart first.
And people will share more.
Gradually, they will trust me more.
They see me as a family member.
They often invite me to eat.
If you go to the Western Region,
and you are invited to eat, don't be shy.
Because they are very enthusiastic.
They invite you for real, not for words.
Yes.
When I go to a place,
if I meet a person there,
and I approach them,
they seem to be shy to me,
or they refuse me,
what will I do?
When I first started filming,
there was a lady in Da Lat.
She sold grilled rice paper,
and she didn't allow me to film.
I am very grateful to her.
When she said that,
I thought about it.
I need to ask for permission first,
before I film anything.
So I ask for permission for everything I film.
I need to observe before I film.
So I can avoid the situations
that make people uncomfortable.
How is your schedule now?
Normally, I spend 1-2 months
to go on a trip.
After that,
I will edit it
and upload it to everyone.
Maybe I will stay there
and work there.
I imagine that
I am in Sa Pa or Da Lat,
and I am working.
There is a mountain outside
and the clouds are gathering.
I like it, right?
I like it very much.
It is one of the things
that I want to realize.
I can work anywhere I want.
I am free to think.
I am free to do what I like.
Of course, there are some restrictions
that I have to follow.
But in return,
I am free to create
and be myself.
Does your family support this job?
Actually, I used to hide it.
How can you hide it?
My mom still shows it to the neighbors.
So I think my mom supports it.
Besides the freedom to create
and be yourself,
when you choose this job,
what else do you get
from this job?
I am much more mature and fast.
Every day,
I learn a lot of new things.
Even the farmers,
although they are poor,
they have great ideas
that I need to learn.
They also have dreams
that I cherish.
If there is someone
who is like me,
who wants to travel,
experience and explore like you,
how do you share your experience?
What I can share with you
is confidence.
Because when you are not confident,
it is hard to start.
First, you need a plan.
Because only you
can understand yourself.
Only you can make a plan.
When you make a plan
based on your strengths and weaknesses,
you will know
what you need to improve
and develop.
From that plan,
you have to try.
I don't mean to do it officially,
but you have to try.
It means that you don't take risks.
In the past, I didn't give up my job.
I just tried in this field
when I saw positive and optimistic signs,
I spent a lot of time for it.
You start from yourself first.
What is the nearest plan
that you will make?
What do you want?
I really want to go to the Northwest.
The Northwest is one of the places
that I really like.
Because everything is different from the Southwest.
It is very different.
Yes, that's right.
Even the culture, the scenery, the food, everything.
I wish you
always full of energy
and keep doing what you want to do.
What you are passionate about
for your job
will come true soon.
Goodbye everyone.
We will end a life story here.
