You're making 3 mistakes when you tell a story
You're making these 3 mistakes when you tell a story:
🛑 MISTAKE 1️⃣: you go off on a tangent and give irrelevant details that deviate from what actually happened in the story
🛑 MISTAKE 2️⃣: you intellectualise parts of the story and start teaching/preaching without permission and without finishing the story
🛑 MISTAKE 3️⃣: you give your personal opinion about things that happened in the story before finishing the story
👆🏻 These 3 things piss people off! That's why they roll their eyes! 🙄
I do too! And you too! 😂
These are the 3 things people WANT to hear when you tell a story:
✅ where was it?
✅ what happened?
✅ how did it end?!
That's it! Tell those 3 things and drop the mic 🎤.
(and thank me later 😁).
❤️ Hear me here: People LOVE listening to a story. A STORY. No irrelevant details, no preaching, no opinions. Just - the - story. After telling the story (it's another story) you can test people's reaction and see 1️⃣ if they are curious about other details, 2️⃣ if they are teachable/preachable, 3️⃣ if they care for your personal opinion (which they will, if you tell the flipping story right!).
And if you're still unsure about how to figure this out, this Monday I'm giving a free STORY MASTERCLASS where I'll teach you in 3 minutes:
* How to cut out all the fluff & tell a snappy, short story people actually want to hear
* My super short story framework that makes your audience hang onto every word you say
* How to tell a short story that sells
So, see you at THE STORY MASTERCLASS: STORIES WORTH SHARING
this Monday, October 2nd, 11am Pacific Time (7pm UK)
