Good morning from Tokyo.
We are in the capital city of Japan.
All roads lead to Tokyo.
This is our last stop on our Japan adventures.
We booked our tickets online.
We do have a time slot now because it's extremely busy.
You've literally 360 views right around the city.
The amount of high rise buildings is unbelievable,
honestly.
And only in Japan can a pedestrian crossing
be a tourist attraction.
It's like getting on a roller coaster.
I'm dying for this, I'm real excited.
There's also a few different ones.
So there's some straight ones.
We've gone on the diagonal ones
and they all criss-cross, so it's a bit crazy.
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah!
So you pick what you want
and then it comes down on a conveyor belt.
That's the most strangest way I've been served food
in all my life.
Very Japanese.
So yeah, Tokyo has been on our list
since we really started to travel.
We've always wanted to come here.
It's such a fascinating and intriguing city.
It's also one of the largest cities in the world.
I've read up, there's a little bit of a debate
on the actual population.
I think in our Tokyo, it was about 13 million,
but I think overall, it's close to 40 million.
So if you know the exact number of the population of Tokyo,
let us know in the comments.
But yeah, big, big city.
There's lots of areas that you can visit here.
So from our research,
we found out that Shibuya, Shinjuku, and Harajuku
seem to be the three biggest.
So I don't think we're gonna go
and get to visit them all today,
but the good news is,
we're gonna be in Tokyo for the next few days.
So hopefully by the end of it,
we'll have seen,
I wouldn't say all that there is to see in Tokyo,
but a good bunch of it.
That's where we're going.
So we're on the subway,
and we're on our way into a place called Shibuya.
Just to mention as well,
we can use the ICOCA card here.
When we were in Osaka,
I think I did mention in a video that we had it,
and it was just for Osaka, but it's not.
It's for all over Japan.
This has worked all over Japan for us,
which is really, really handy.
Okay, so our first stop of the day
is a place called Shibuya Sky,
and it's the newest observation deck in Tokyo.
So I think it only opened in like 2019.
We booked our tickets online.
We do have a time slot now,
because it's extremely busy.
So we have to be there for 11,
and it's 10.57.
But the good news is,
we just have to get in this way.
We just have to get in the elevator
up to the 14th floor.
With a change of our teeth, we made it.
We made it,
and the tickets are sold out for today.
So just bear that in mind as well,
if you're coming.
Definitely book them online.
We booked them through Cluck in advance,
and this was the only time slot left as well.
So do book them in advance.
So yeah.
This is unbelievable.
So we're at the highest point now,
and I'm just looking at you've literally 360 views right around the city the
amount of high-rise buildings is unbelievable honestly it's beautiful up
here and I was just saying as well because the tickets are actually sold
out when we came in there was a sign up and yet there's not that many people
which is good so they don't overcrowd it but it's unbelievable so there's a
couple of rules we had to change cameras so we're on the GoPro so also as
well you can only have cameras that have a strap so I assume that's to just
prevent anything from falling down I guess from this height but it also no
hats and things like that so you do have to kind of and give up a couple of
things but they have lockers there as well which is really handy they're like
a hundred yen and you just put the stuff in the locker and then you just come out
onto the rooftop oh it's unbelievable here you can really see how big Tokyo is
I could just firm it for as far as I can see it's just buildings and tall
buildings at that absolutely massive I don't think I've ever seen a view like
this honestly it's incredible and I heard some days you can actually even
see Mount Fuji from here really yeah I'm not too sure what direction but on a
clear day yeah you can actually see Fuji don't know if I'd recommend it if you're
afraid of heights
so I read up as well and a bar opens up in the evening time so you can get a
drink up here and there's also like a sort of light show on now we looked up
tickets online we didn't know whether to do the day or night time but then it
turned into we did not really have much of a choice this was only the day
morning time left actually so that's another thing as well seems to be quite
popular in the evening so the most popular time was sunset which I think is
about between six and seven so it's absolutely no slots available for that
okay so we're a floor below the observatory and we're indoors and we're
actually on our way back down there that was unbelievable up there it's actually
just looking back at some of the footage it doesn't look real it looks like a
backdrop when you're taking videos and pictures or whatever of the view and of
people kind of walking it doesn't look real it looks fake this is a nice little
view on point here isn't it it's indoors it's air-conditioned it's extremely hot
especially up there because the Sun is so close this one's just beaming down
amazing that wasn't it oh my god it was unbelievable that's honestly one of the
best views I've ever seen in my life yeah really really worth to come here
and check that view out honestly it's a great time so worth it so we're just
walking out and we just noticed there is a bar there where you can get some like
cold drinks now we looked at the menu and it is a little bit pricey through
the roof so unless we were getting a beer maybe we'd pay it but I think we're
just gonna go to the 7-eleven and grab like a cold water although you are
paying for a gorgeous view we just don't have time because we have so much more
we want to explore today okay we're back on the streets the chaotic streets of
Tokyo god it's very very busy I love it though it's great we are on our way to
our next tourist destination I guess you'd say and it's a zebra crossing it's
the it's the Shibuya pedestrian crossing and only in Japan can a pedestrian
crossing be a tourist attraction and what's so interesting about this zebra
crossing is at least it said that 3,000 people cross it each time so it's the
busiest intersection in the world oh get ready to mingle in with all the crowds
do you think there's really 3,000 people that cross it? I don't know I think obviously at
certain times or whatever there would be like right now it doesn't look like
there's 3,000 people but it is only like half to half in a day so I'm sure like when it
comes to rush hour like we've seen videos and pictures of it but it's
actually mad to be here because this is although like I said it is a pedestrian
crossing it is one of the famous junctions I guess you know you do see on
the internet and you see videos and pictures and stuff like that now that we're
here it's pretty mad it's a bit like it reminds me like a Times Square or
something New York the buildings and all the advertisements all the color all the
people it's a yeah it's really cool it's a great atmosphere here we go
It's like getting on a rollercoaster
I'm dying for this, I'm really excited
It's never too often
Oh my god right so there is quite a lot of crowds
there's also a few different ones so there's some straight ones we've gone on
the diagonal ones and they all crisscross so it's a bit crazy
Right we made it, we go over again
Should we just stay and do this all day lovey?
What number is it?
67 and 68
Oh Daniel
okay so we're after coming into this really famous sushi place so it's another find
from Caelan on TikTok and basically it's supposed to be really really cheap
we're just having a look at the menu now I have no clue what I'm ordering at all
because I've never had sushi before so it's actually a first for me to try it I
also think there's some vegetarian sushi on the menu that Caelan can also try
but the way the system works it's really cool so there's a good bit of a queue
for it outside it's really really popular we only had to wait like about
five minutes luckily so you come in and you get seated and then you have a
screen on front of you so you pick what you want and then it comes down on a
conveyor belt, how cool is that? Very Japanese
there's quite a lot on the menu and again as I said I'm completely new to
sushi so I don't really know what I'm ordering but I'm after coming across there
they have salmon and avocado so I think that's a safe bet to go with for us
but I can't believe how cheap it is, especially for sushi, because sushi can be quite expensive
it was 150 yen for what I ordered including tax and then what Caelan ordered as well
so very very cheap
this is absolutely mental, we've never been in a restaurant like this before
and then it stops at the number so we're on number 67, 68 so that's how it works
so when the chef obviously makes it, puts it on the little conveyor belt and then
it's obviously programmed to stop at whatever stop it is
Brilliant, honestly, when in Japan
Here's some stuff coming now
Look at that
Oh my god it's so cool, yeah they're literally linked to the
conveyors that you order off and then it just stops at your number
that's amazing honestly
Okay mine has arrived
That's the most strangest way I've been served food in all my life
Anyway it looks lovely, I got this Inari sushi, basically it's sushi for vegetarians
made of tofu
Here's mine now, everyone that goes by him is like it's mine
No it's not mine
No dice Amanda
Anyway easily amused, I'm watching people say I feel good boys
You can also get beer, I'm not too sure how that works though, I believe they don't
Put it on the conveyor belt
Probably spill everywhere
Spillage city if that happens, here there's more stuff now coming
It's very exciting I have to say, to see who's got what
The most exciting meal
Okay so I went for some salmon and avocado
I love salmon and I love avocado
So I'm sure I'll like this
It smells quite nice
Again first time to have sushi
Thanks guys
Wow that's amazing
I knew you'd like that
Oh my god, honestly
If you're a vegetarian
And you're in Japan, try this sushi Inari
It's kind of wrapped in tofu
And then there's some rice inside
And there's some sort of sweet chewy taste of it
Lovely, isn't it nice
So good, that is so good
Tastes so fresh
Salmon tastes so fresh
It's cold but it doesn't take away from the taste
That is so good
Finally I've found something in Asia
That's like
Unreal
The great thing as well
So you can order one at a time
And then you can just go back on
And then you can order more, you can actually order up to 4 at a time
If you want
But you can just get one, eat it and then order another one
So that's the way the system sort of works
And again really cheap and really really fresh
And really nice
Definitely worth a visit
I told you I wasn't lying about that Inari
We're getting not only 2 more pieces
But 4 more pieces
2 plates in total
This is our set up here
We can share
I love this place
So I went for salmon this time
On rice
It looks delicious
I'm becoming a new fan of sushi
I have to say
Even though I've just tried 2 salmon dishes
I love salmon, it's amazing
So fresh, so healthy as well
You feel so healthy
Really really lovely
Oh my god
And also salmon is usually
Expensive so I can't get over
150 yen for this
How cheap it is
And although they look kind of small on the plate
It's more than enough
Although I'm saying I got 3 plates
They're enough because you get to try
Different variations
Ding ding
French fries
Oh they look lovely
Yeah it is
Not very Japanese but we just discovered
The girl actually next to me
Ordered french fries so we were like
We'll go for a little bit of that
The girl next to us has ordered plates
It's actually great the way you can do it
You just line their plates up
This is ours so we're only on 3
Well I'm on 3, you're on 2
I'm on 3 but I have to order another one
I've ordered tuna because I went for
All my dishes were salmon
Speaking of it, here we go
That's the tuna
I do like tuna
So this will be interesting
But I have to put myself into it
And try different things
Speaking of the plates being in a row
There's a guy up there and there must be
About 15 plates
You see the beauty of all of this
You're not getting the attention of a waiter
You're just punching in whatever you want
And within a minute or two it just arrives
On this conveyor belt right in front of you
It's very handy, it actually encourages you
To keep ordering
Oh my god amazing
Well that was a feast
An absolutely delicious feast
So we have to go up and pay
So what you do is you just take your number
Up to the tail, scan it
And pay
And the grand total of all of that
Was 1750 yen
That was amazing honestly
So so good, you have to check that place out
If you're in Tokyo as well, worth a visit
The food was delicious
And if you're just going for sushi as well it probably will be even cheaper
It's only 150 yen
For a dish of sushi
So we ordered cheese chips and two cokes
As well which brought the price up
But even at that it was still really really cheap
So our first sushi experience
Ever
And it just happens to be in Japan
Is a really really good one
So we're just after leaving Shibuya and we're on our way to check in to our hotel
So that's just one thing to notice about Japan
All the hotels are really really late check ins
I'm talking about sometimes 5 o'clock, 6 o'clock in the evening
So when you are booking your trip to Japan
Just obviously look into that as well
About what time you're checking in, is that in your hotel
And the one that we're staying in now
Is 3 o'clock so that's not so bad
So we've left our bags there this morning so we could go off and explore a bit
But we're going to go in now and actually check in to our room
Okay so you're probably sick of me
Talking about the subways in Asia
But the reason I talk about them is because
They get such a bad rap, every YouTube video that we watch
There's always somebody saying it's so difficult
It's so hard and stuff and I think that might intimidate some people
So from our experience using it
It seems very straight forward
In Tokyo there's like a green line
It's called the Yanomotyline I think
And it goes in like a loop and what you do is
You connect to that to get to all the hot spots basically
And if you're staying outside of that loop
Well then you just connect basically through a train
Onto that loop and then away you go
Very very straight forward but yeah
Just trying to give a little bit of balance to the
Metro systems in Asia
They're not as complicated as people make out
We've checked in, woohoo
We're so happy with our room
We have to show you, it's so big
Look at the space in this room
What size is that bed?
It's so big
Are we sharing it with someone?
Is that a king size bed?
I don't know but it's massive
It's so big and it's very rare that you get a room this big in Japan
So we're delighted with it honestly
We're so happy with it and I have to show you the best part
This is so so cool
This is a first for us
This is a very first for us
We've never ever ever had it
But it's a projector
Oh my god
And it goes right down to the end of the bed
That is deadly isn't it?
That is so cool, I'll show you
The actual projector is here
So I don't know how to set it up, we'll figure it out later on
But we're definitely watching a movie on that projector
A Christmas movie then?
A Christmas movie 100%
On the bed
On the projector
That's amazing
That was a nice surprise for us
And we also have a TV, we're being spoiled
We won't live
A TV and a little seating area here
And here then we have a nice big fridge
And a freezer
So that's great
We also have some tea and coffee
And they left us some cute little welcome cookies
A really nice touch
The hotel as well also has a restaurant and a cafe
So they have a lunch menu
They do breakfast as well
A dinner and then a drinks menu
There's also I think a movie night
On the rooftop tomorrow night
Which is, we're definitely going to go to that
I think the movie was Stand By Me
So that should be cool
And the best part as well
They do have a free drink from 6 till 7
For anyone that's staying in the hotel
So we're definitely going to be
Going to that
And then our bathroom
So a nice big deep Japanese bath
We love them honestly, we really do
We have a bath nearly every night
All the hotels come with them
And then of course our Japanese toilet, our favourite thing
And then they also give you all your amenities as well
Which is great
And the name of the hotel that we're staying in is Hotel Graffy
We will leave the link for it in our description
So if you do plan on coming to Tokyo
You should definitely check it out
Right so before we go back out on the streets of Tokyo
We're going to
Have a beer here at our hotel
So I did mention that there's free beer
And we're in the hour of it now
So we're off to get in a Heartland
Which is a Japanese beer, it's our first time to try it
So cheers
Again, just a really nice touch from the hotel
We are off to come into a place called
Magnet
So Caelum actually found it on TikTok
I haven't even heard of it but supposedly there's a cafe
On the top floor
And it has some really cool views
So we're going to stop in and get maybe a coffee
Another great find
From Mr Fitzsimons himself
Something that doesn't exist
Pretty sure there's a cafe up there
I don't need TikTok
He's a
Some size runner
Hello
Woah woah
Yeah yeah yeah
Turn your head to me
I understand why so many
Asian people use umbrellas in the sun
Irish people were not built
For this heat
The best water in the world
So hot
Bend down a little bit more
That's it
Now bring your head up a bit more into the hat
That's it
Yeah
Just put your right leg in the air
That was Amanda's
Sushi on my bloody t-shirt
Thanks a lot Amanda
That's for the bloopers
In the next episode
Still haven't spotted it so supposedly sometimes
And I wish we read this before we got here
Sometimes you can't actually see it
It actually looks like it's going to rain
Just looking up there the clouds seem quite
Dark and dull so
We want to make it back in time
So we don't get soaked
Okay right so we're at another spot
Still can't see a thing
We're officially tapping out
We've actually changed our tickets for an earlier bus
So thank god it was available
You
