They're going to announce it right there.
Nervous, just a little bit nervous.
Three, two, one.
Oh my goodness, no.
So I'm here right now in Purchase New York for one reason and one reason only.
Oh nice, they have mirrors here.
So right now I am in Purchase New York because I am competing in NTDTV's
Classical Chinese Dance Competition.
This is my seventh time competing but I'm telling you it does not get any easier.
I'm still super nervous.
That's why right now I'm in the fitness center.
I should be resting right now but I'm in the fitness center trying to think my routine
over and over again.
A little bit nervous about this one.
So I should be resting right now but I just can't get myself.
I just can't get myself to stop thinking about how there's so many younger and better
dancers competing and I feel like that I'm just going to get cut the very first round.
So there's thoughts in my head like asking me like why are you even trying?
Why are you even here?
It's going to be so embarrassing for you to get cut.
Why don't you just give up now?
I'm trying to zone these thoughts out but I can't.
It's really hard.
All right guys, I'm gonna get some rest right now.
I'll see you guys tomorrow.
So right now it is about 11 30.
I have like an hour and a half until the competition.
I'm not feeling too nervous actually but it's just this time this competition I really
didn't want to join.
I had a hard time making the choice to join because as I said there's so many newer dancers
who are much better than me.
I just have so many reasons not to join but you know I gotta have confidence.
If I made this decision I have to go through with it.
So guys wish me luck.
All right so I'm putting some makeup but this is Felix.
How many times have you competed man?
More than I can count.
How are you feeling this time though?
We'll see what happens.
You just gotta have, you just gotta believe.
Yeah that's true I gotta believe too.
You just gotta believe.
I'll be going first man.
I'll see you.
All right see you on the other side.
Oh no that sounds so scary.
Because it is scary.
All right good luck Felix man.
Good luck.
Ciao.
Ciao man.
So
30 minutes before starting.
Feeling good.
All right 20 minutes until we start.
Hey you guys ready?
No.
Everyone besides you.
Ready?
Three two one.
Okay let's do it guys.
Let's do it.
Okay I just finished.
I gotta say it felt pretty good.
All things considered I think I did okay.
There was a moment I was on stage and I was just like
I didn't care about like who I was competing with
or like winning or not winning or anything like that.
I'm just enjoying the moment.
Just enjoying being on stage being able to dance.
Kind of like just cherishing the fact that I could actually still be dancing on stage.
I think that's actually the most important part.
You just compete with yourself.
Like for example I felt like I did better than what I was before.
That means I already won.
I already succeeded.
And that's all that really matters.
And it makes the whole thing a lot less nerve-wracking.
They're gonna announce who makes it tonight.
But honestly it doesn't really matter because I feel like a winner already.
I'll see what happens tonight but I feel good.
We're here right now.
They're gonna announce it right there.
Oh you have a countdown.
Nervous.
Just a little bit nervous.
Even though I said I wouldn't be.
Eight, seven, six, five.
I can't believe you're just counting down right now.
Four, three, two, one.
Oh man.
It hasn't come out yet.
It's the third one.
False alarm.
You shouldn't have counted down.
None of us worse.
Made the situation worse now.
Sorry.
Oh whoa.
Oh my goodness.
No.
Didn't make it.
All right so didn't make it.
But actually a lot of people got cut.
Did you make it?
No I didn't make it.
It's a hard cut.
Hard cut.
But it's actually okay.
Because those are some really high standards.
Yeah really high standards up there.
Oh intense.
All right guys.
Didn't make it.
But honestly I don't feel that bad.
I think I did my best.
At least I'm leaving this competition knowing that I tried my best and I improved.
But like I can't lie.
Of course I was a little bit sad.
But actually I think this is a good lesson.
I've actually improved throughout this process.
And I think actually making this video has actually helped me through this competition.
Like not making it.
You guys are kind of going through the journey with me.
Like I'm also learning.
So hey I'm feeling okay.
So never give up.
Be with yourself.
All right guys.
So I'm back in the classroom right now.
And actually on the right back here.
I was doing a lot of thinking.
To be honest I was pretty sad.
I definitely wanted to make it to the finals.
But I realized that just because I didn't make it.
Doesn't mean like all the time I spent practicing here for the past three months was wasted.
Like I still improved.
So if I were to leave you guys with anything.
It's just guys work hard.
Compete with yourself.
And don't worry.
It's all about the process.
All right guys.
See you guys on the next one.
