Hello everyone, welcome to Diem Hen Kho Hoc.
Right now, I'm at a very special eco-experimental area.
As you can see, this is a chicken bonnet model.
We can see that there are birds, green vegetables, and next to me,
this is an aquabonnet model, which will raise fish in the ponds.
Combined with growing green vegetables and only with a small area,
we can grow a lot of vegetables to make food for the family.
And standing next to me is Dr. Pham Van Hoi,
who is always concerned about ecological issues.
He is also the owner of the eco-models that we have just seen.
Hello Dr. Hoi.
Hello.
Dr. Hoi, can you tell us a little bit about the eco-models here
so that the audience can understand better?
In this model, in this area, we currently have two different models.
You have already seen the external model.
We named it Chicken Bonnet, which can raise chickens and combine with growing vegetables.
And the model behind me is the aquabonnet model.
You already know a lot about it.
It is a combination of raising fish and growing vegetables.
However, here it is different from the models you see on the Internet.
Here we have developed a separate system
to help the system grow almost all types of plants.
No need to fertilize, no cost, nutrition is not lost.
The product is rich, safe and meets the criteria of fresh food.
These are the outstanding advantages of ecological systems
developed by Dr. Hoi's research and development.
In particular, when using the system for the first time,
by using regular food,
households, especially urban households,
can easily contribute to the protection of the environment,
reduce the loss of organic life in an effective way.
We can see that these models have many advantages,
although it is a small area.
And to better understand the model and the process
that Dr. Pham Van Hoi has studied and designed,
now we will watch a short clip about Dr. Hoi that we have prepared.
Dr. Pham Van Hoi, who has been teaching and working for 23 years
in the field of agricultural ecology and environmental protection,
is the character of this week's science appointment.
Some of his excellent scientific results can be listed.
From 2001 to 2008,
he studied the safe, sustainable production methods in Vietnam.
From 2009 to 2016,
he focused on the study, management, distribution and use of plant-based pesticides
in agricultural production in Vietnam,
the development of fuel trees on polluted and depleted soil.
From 2016 to 2020,
he studied solutions to solve the double risk of human health and the environment.
From 2020 to now,
he has been studying ecological agriculture,
the development of a system of biological waste management,
the combination of plants, vegetables, and family size.
From 2001 to now,
Dr. Pham Van Hoi has participated in the coordination
and consultation of 33 domestic and international projects,
the author and co-author of 12 international journals,
the author and co-author of 5 international books,
and the author of 12 domestic journals.
With excellent contributions to agriculture,
especially in the field of agricultural ecology,
Dr. Pham Van Hoi has played an important role
in the sustainable development of rural agriculture
in many regions across the country.
Through the clip we just watched,
we can see that Dr. Pham Van Hoi has had a lot of work,
as well as many years of commitment to the field of environmental ecology.
And I don't know what motivated you
to come to the field of research in the field of environmental ecology?
It was a long process of reasoning
to come up with the idea of making these products.
Perhaps the time to mark the change in my understanding of ecology
as well as the ideas that led to these models
was through a grant from the French project.
People were given money to evaluate
and learn about the production activities
of the most advanced people in the field of ecology.
I went to London and met some of the most advanced farmers in the field of ecology.
At that time, I realized that
a lot of knowledge that had been learned
and was being applied at that time
was not correct in the field of ecology.
People did it differently.
And based on what I observed,
people combined their knowledge and experience in ecology.
Because I was taught in Vietnam
as well as encouraged to study ecology in the US.
At that time, I learned a lot
and it completely changed my view of ecology
as well as led me to the ideas for this project.
Although I had been teaching ecology since 2001-2002,
in 2016, when the French gave me money,
it was the first time I was sponsored to study ecology.
At that time, I really found its beauty.
The more I lived in the field of ecology,
the more I learned about its value.
I realized that the value of ecology
is not only the desire to change something
in the field of ecology in general,
but it is also beneficial for me personally.
Because I used to be very thin.
I used to be thin all the time.
However, after investing in these models,
I can make them shine directly.
For the past 4-5 years, I have not been thin.
Currently, there are many concerns
about environmental pollution,
especially the pollution of waste,
especially organic waste.
Many people are very concerned
because the processing of this waste
is not yet fully effective.
Is this part of the reason
for experts to study more
and create designs here?
At the time of 2019,
when I was successful
in running the experiment model,
the Chikamonic model,
the results of the sanitation analysis
at the Vietnamese Academy of Agriculture
showed that vegetables are safe,
even in terms of living standards in Vietnam.
At that time, I confirmed that the system runs
and does not need external interference.
It runs very naturally.
From the logic of the system,
I thought that it could be
completely applied to organic waste.
Because at that time,
there were a lot of articles
that people reacted,
blocking vehicles carrying waste
I am also a person
working in the field of environment,
studying the environment,
and teaching the environment at the academy.
I think we need to do something
for the environment.
Based on the logic of the Chikamonic system,
I developed a system
called Kitchenphonics.
At that time, I used organic waste
directly to run the system.
Because the previous advices
that people pollute,
pollute, it is not successful
because it is too inconvenient
for the people about the smell,
about the pests,
it is really inconvenient,
so we are not successful.
So the way we go
helps the people
to be cleaner,
cleaner, and more convenient.
You don't have to do anything with it,
you just pour it into the system
and let it run by itself.
On vegetables, under birds,
or under fish,
with this ecological model,
just a few square meters,
the owner is free to use vegetables,
eggs, or even fish.
Dr. Pham Van Hoi said
that this ecological model
operates in the form of a tank,
water pump, and air intake.
They have a circular operating mechanism
like a small garden.
The goal of the system
is to process a part of the organic waste
that is easy to decompose from food,
animals such as chickens, fish,
and other plants.
In order to increase
the efficiency of production
as well as environmental protection,
we have to aim
for a balanced system.
In nature,
this cycle system
creates that balance.
Of course, there are harmful animals,
there are harmless animals,
they coexist
and control each other
to create a harmonious system.
However, when animals
control each other,
the harmful animals
do not cause harm
to humans
or affect human health.
Dr. Ho said
that all components
in ecological systems
are carefully selected
by scientists to play the highest role.
With a fully automatic operating system,
water in tanks does not need
to be replenished with hygiene
but still provides enough nutrients
for plants.
In particular,
the use of fresh water directly
nourishes the soil
not only nourishes the plants,
but also helps to improve soil fertility
in an effective way.
These seeds are earthworm seeds.
They are light
and do not absorb water.
Because they do not absorb water,
they help the system to circulate.
The water is pumped up
so that these seeds
are fertile enough
for the plants to grow.
Secondly, it is the surface
for the organisms to live here.
A lot of organisms live here
and it creates a process of decomposition
of the fish's digestive system
into a digestive system for the plants.
At the same time,
it creates oxygen,
which creates a vacuum.
You can imagine
that when the tank is clogged,
the oxygen will flow back
into the water
and return to the fish.
In this model,
the farmer can grow
all kinds of herbs,
as well as common vegetables.
They all have high production
and high quality,
and have the same characteristic flavor.
To create this system,
I had to experiment
and do it over and over again.
During that process,
what were the biggest challenges?
The biggest challenge
of this system
is that we don't have a point to stick to.
If someone teaches me
how to do it,
I can do it very quickly.
But because it is so blurry
and there is nothing clear,
I have to fix it
every day.
It is a new discovery
for me.
There are hundreds of details
and they are connected
in a very logical way.
So just a few details are not logical
and the system will collapse.
That's why it takes a lot of time.
At the beginning,
when I decided to do aquaponics,
it took me 6 months.
6 months for the fish to die
and 6 months for the vegetables to grow.
It took me 6 months
and I came here every day.
At that time,
I didn't understand
the principle of water operation.
Water is something
that cannot be predicted.
It is very hard to imagine.
I didn't understand
the function
of the cycle.
The cycle is like a river.
It flows like that.
It not only pushes the pollutants
out.
In the case of the cycle,
it also returns clean water
to the system.
You said that you spent 6 months
to research.
In those 6 months,
you didn't get any results.
I don't know if the results
are more successful than the old models.
What motivated you
to persist
and achieve such a result?
This is a question
that I received for the first time
related to the work I did
This is called
co-accident.
It is a coincidence.
In 2017,
when I started this model,
there were many difficulties.
At that time,
international NGO funds
were allocated to Cambodia,
Myanmar and Vietnam.
At that time,
I didn't have any project.
When I didn't have any project,
I was very free.
When I was a child,
I worked as a mechanic,
electrician and so on.
It motivated me to
spend time on this.
This is a siphon
designed by Dr. Pham Van Hoi.
Thanks to some improvements,
this device not only pumps
and discharges water automatically,
but it also has many other functions.
According to Dr. Hoi,
this is the secret to
successfully operate
This is a siphon.
It has been changed.
If you go online,
this is a siphon.
But we have added this part.
This part has many functions.
The first function is
to temporarily stop.
The second function is
to adjust it when the tree is small
or big.
The third function is to suck water.
If it is only a siphon,
after the operation is over,
the tree will die.
If we plant a tree
and the roots of the tree
go down here,
the roots will not develop
and even cause the tree to die.
However, if we do it this way,
the water will stop.
The whole siphon will stop.
So it provides the tree
with an environment
similar to planting soil.
That's why we can plant
many types of trees.
After a lot of effort,
hard work,
day and night,
you have successfully
operated this system.
How do you feel now?
For me,
I feel
that I have never
faced failure
and I have never enjoyed success.
Because when it runs,
I continue to challenge
with another idea.
After analyzing everything,
I came up with KitchenMonix.
Then I came up with
the All-in-One System.
It integrates all functions.
After that,
I continued to develop.
It is just a very small product
in the process of exploration
to have it.
However, from the process
of investment,
running the model and understanding
its structure,
it is the only way
to save the Tô-Lịch River.
It is the most sustainable.
Why? Because Hanoi needs two things.
More green trees and
the processing of the Tô-Lịch River.
What we are doing is putting two things together
to run it.
We don't need to add any technology.
We don't need to buy foreign chemicals.
We don't need to buy foreign filters
and processing systems.
If this system is applied to the Tô-Lịch River,
will it be successful?
I experimented with the Tô-Lịch River
and it surprised me.
If we take the drinking water
and leave it here for about two days,
it will become cloudy.
Because the water still contains
chemicals and particles
which make the water polluted.
However, the water tank
we experimented with the Tô-Lịch River
was still the same after a week.
It didn't change its color.
The chemicals disappeared.
Theoretically,
the Tô-Lịch River is still running.
We still have a lot of questions to ask.
We can see that
you are very passionate
about environmental ecology.
From the issue of waste
to the issue of Tô-Lịch River,
you have always been passionate.
It can be seen that
with your knowledge and passion,
you have turned
technology,
as well as your knowledge
into effective models and operations.
Have you noticed
that in addition to vegetables and leaves,
we can successfully grow
many kinds of trees
and trees that grow very well.
This has made the technology
of Phan Van Hoi
popular
and many farmers in the city
are enthusiastic about it.
There is no more food in the garbage bag.
For a year, Thuy's family
always put it in these boxes.
She said this is where she provides
the model of Kitchen Pôn Hích
that she is using.
Every day in my life,
I have a lot of food
that I throw away.
It will be a waste
if I don't use it.
I always struggle
to remove the garbage
that I throw away.
With that thought,
I found the model
of the Center for Ecology
of Thuy Hoi
to be very useful
for me and my family.
There is also an advantage
that this is a waste system
so it will be used regularly.
Even when I feel very busy
and don't have much time to take care of it,
it still ensures that the system
provides enough nutrition for my plants.
Kitchen Pôn Hích is one of many
ecological models
developed by Pham Van Hoi.
This system also has operating systems
like Chicken Pôn Hích,
but the main difference
is the organic matter
that is thrown into the model.
With this ecological model,
I don't have to worry
about the amount of food
that I eat every day.
What's more,
my family and I
still have clean,
safe food
and a place
to relieve stress
after working hours.
This also helps us
get high-quality food
for our family
and form a natural love
between family members.
However,
what do you think
we need to do
to develop this model
more effectively
and expand it?
I think we have to go back
to many years ago
when we were developing
this ecological model.
We had to invest a lot
of money to develop it.
This kind of investment
is related to people's skills
and the organic matter
that is produced
is not diverse enough
and leads to
bad watercress products.
Watercress plants
are usually planted
with live vegetables
and no one can grow
their own products.
If they fail,
it's because of the quality.
It's easy for you to understand
that the quality of vegetables
depends on the head.
The better the nutrition,
the better the vegetables.
This system allows us
to use the most diverse nutrition.
When we say the most diverse nutrition,
we sometimes forget that
it comes from our family's waste.
We throw away everything we eat
from crab, fish, meat to soup.
The vegetables are very good.
It's not only the source
of environmental protection
to deal with pollution,
but it also creates
a very good quality of vegetables,
chicken or fish for us.
It's also an incentive
for 60-year-old people
to climb from level 1
to level 4 several times a day.
It's a very good exercise
and a very good motivation
for us to stay healthy
and love life more.
We feel that what we are doing
is meaningful not only for the environment
but also for the future.
Thank you.
Thank you for the information you just shared.
Hello, ladies and gentlemen.
You are watching Diem Hien Khoa Hoc.
In the third part,
we will have a Q&A session
with the experts.
First of all,
I would like to ask
Mr. Hoang Thi Thanh.
His phone number is 09753
and the last number is 923 in Hanoi.
Recently,
I have seen many articles
about the concept of cycle.
What is the cycle in agriculture
and what are its benefits?
Thank you.
Your question is very broad.
We can see that
in nature,
there are many types of trees
and animals
in agriculture and nature.
The concept of cycle
sometimes goes beyond
the trees and animals
that people are familiar with.
For example,
in the case of kitchen forage,
to survive,
there must be thousands of animals.
It is very natural
and we never analyze it.
So,
the concept of cycle
is a system
that connects
and ensures
a high biological level.
The components
are connected
like the head of this component
is the head of the other component
or the waste of this component
is the waste of the other component.
So,
when it comes to the concept of ecology,
the concept of cycle,
we can divide it into many levels.
For example,
a high cycle is
a system
or a full circular system.
It is like the system
that I have just shown you.
It is like that.
Although
if we say that it is a complete cycle,
it is not true.
Why? Because we still have to use
food from outside to feed the birds.
We still use this waste
to feed the birds.
All systems are open.
No system exists on this planet.
However,
the cycle is very high
because we only feed the birds
and sometimes we only use the waste.
We can cycle
a part like
the system of fish farming.
The fish release the rice.
Or we can cycle
a little more like
the system of duck fish farming.
It keeps increasing.
For example,
you can see that
in the system,
the more we diversify the ingredients
with different functions
in nature,
the higher the cycle level
and the more complicated it is.
We have many kinds of trees,
such as hydrangea,
orchid,
and other kinds of trees.
We can integrate
all of them
in the system
by using technology
or simple labor
to make the cycle run.
In such a diverse system,
the cycle level
increases
and becomes stronger.
What are the benefits
of such a system?
If you listen to
the owner
of Jun Mai Hien farm
in Phu Tho,
he is from Germany and Poland.
He has a hectare of farm
and earns 4 billion VND per year.
I was impressed by him.
When he met
German scientists,
they asked him
why he didn't come to Vietnam
to be a farmer.
Jun Mai Hien said
he wanted to be rich
only by using the cycle system.
With the information
shared by Mr. Ho,
Ms. Thanh must be very excited
to be able to be rich
only by using the cycle system.
My second question is
about how to produce
organic agriculture
and prevent the spread of
infectious diseases.
That's a very good question.
Many people
ask the same question.
I would like to ask
Mr. Hiep
about that.
When you first
came to Vietnam,
what was your reaction?
Before you came to Vietnam,
you used to produce
a lot of organic food.
But when you
came to Vietnam,
the soil was not
well-nourished
and the plants
were not well-nourished.
Before you came to Vietnam,
the soil was not well-nourished
and the plants
were not well-nourished.
The plants were exposed
to increased risk of diseases
and the people
continued to use pesticides.
That led to food insecurity
and poverty.
When you moved to
the organic farm,
it took time
for the environment
to recover.
For example,
the president of the
Lộc Thanh Commune,
Lâm Đồng District,
in 1992,
Mr. Phát said
that he didn't understand
why his coffee was so many
but the leaves were yellow.
I asked him
why the forest was so green
so he decided
to leave it as it was.
He said that
until 1996,
the coffee was green
so he decided
to cut down the grass
instead of leaving it as it was.
He cut down the grass
and started to invest
to increase the yield
to 4 tons per hectare.
Another man,
Mr. Cường Đức Trọng,
I met him
at the airport.
He told me that
he had been growing coffee
since 1998.
Mr. Đức Trọng grew
coffee beans,
coffee, lemongrass,
and many other things.
He said that
it took him 2 years
to plant the coffee
because he had to water it.
Mr. Đức Trọng also said
that he had never used herbal medicine.
When he was a farmer,
he gave herbal medicine
but he didn't use it
because his coffee didn't get sick.
We can say that
when we grow organic coffee
in a good environment,
the disease won't develop
and it will be controlled.
He said that organic coffee
needs time to change
before it gets stronger.
However, there is still a risk
because the environment
doesn't have boundaries.
We do well in our environment
but the pollutants
and the source of the disease
are all around us.
To reduce the risk,
Mr. Đức Trọng had to
diversify his plants.
For example,
he had to plant
and diversify his plants
to make them stronger.
Some of the production techniques
are related to cotton.
Cotton is like a baby.
When a baby
is born,
from 0 to 3 years old,
it determines his future.
0 to 3 years old
determines his intelligence.
The same thing
applies to plants.
The same applies to his plants.
We have to pay attention
to the quality of our plants.
When we have healthy plants,
we can fight the disease.
With your detailed advice,
I'm sure Mr. Nghiệp
has learned a lot
about how to produce
organic agriculture
effectively.
Thank you for watching.
Goodbye and see you again.
