Warning! Spoilers ahead for season 2 of Winning Time.
There's a true story behind Jack Nicholson's Winning Time cameo.
Hey everybody, I'm Adam Martinetti, and this isn't a cameo. I'm the whole thing.
Adapted from a novel by Jeff Perlman, HBO's Winning Time had an interesting and at times
eccentric way of depicting real historical figures. And in the final episode of season 2,
we meet one of those in the form of Jack Nicholson. Played by actor Max Williams,
Nicholson cheers on the Lakers from his front row seats while also spewing insults at the Celtics in amusing moments in an otherwise serious episode.
According to director Sally Richardson-Whitfield, the scene was even shot for the episode where Nicholson moons the Celtics fans.
But it was removed for fear of it being considered too comical in the heat of the moment. In real life,
Jack Nicholson is known for a number of things.
Two such things are having won three Oscars and being a massive Lakers fan,
having been cheering on the team and even getting in arguments with referees since the 1970s.
Winning Time has unfortunately been canceled,
so there will be no season 3 where we could explore Nicholson's further connections to the team and antics along the sidelines.
Both seasons of Winning Time are now available to stream on Macs.
I'm Adam Martinetti, and don't forget to head over to Collider.com for our movie news, trailers, and reviews.
Thanks for watching, and we'll catch you later.
