The 40s are the golden age of life, but why are the 40s just worries and worries?
The 40s are the time when you finally taste success after the fierce struggle of life.
However, as much as the joy of success and stability, it is also a time of pain at home, in human relationships, and at work.
Life is still a long way to go, but I'm more at a loss than looking forward to the future.
Most things feel meaningless and meaningless.
There is a person who said that the 40s were the turning point of life.
It is philosopher Schopenhauer.
He is now world-famous, but his life was not smooth from the beginning.
The lecture that opened the 30s ambitiously was not popular, so I had to give a lecture in an empty lecture room,
and I didn't pay much attention to academics and philosophy.
Schopenhauer began to be recognized in his 40s.
From the age of 45, he became famous with his book, and he became famous enough to hold lectures in many universities around the world.
For him, the 40s were a crisis of life and a turning point.
What advice would Schopenhauer give to the 40s who are experiencing a crisis of life?
1. The human relationship of the 40s. Enjoy solitude.
The 40s are the most active period of social activity.
When you hang out with a lot of people, you get hurt and feel jealous of your money and children.
Schopenhauer said that it is most important to find peace of mind for happiness.
A sure way to reduce the pain of the mind is to reduce unnecessary socializing.
The more people you meet, the more friends you have, the greater the contact range, and the more chances you have to avoid unhappiness.
Schopenhauer lived alone without a single friend.
Only his dog Atman was with him, and walking with Atman was his daily routine.
Schopenhauer said that the reason humans socialize is because they do not have the ability to endure solitude.
That's how much he emphasized the importance of solitude.
When you feel helplessness, emptiness, and boredom, hanging out with other people is to avoid solitude because you are afraid to face it.
Because the inside is empty, you try to fill everything from the outside.
However, the value gained through others is not the essence of happiness.
In the time of solitude, you should be able to look closer at yourself through art, literature, and philosophy.
As you get older, solitude will become our friend.
When you are afraid of solitude, it is good to remember Schopenhauer's words.
All unhappiness occurs where you cannot be alone.
Schopenhauer, born in a wealthy family, inherited his father's property and could not be a slave to money for the rest of his life.
At that time, many philosophers gave lectures to make money, but Schopenhauer could only focus on studying.
So he knew the importance of wealth better than anyone else.
Schopenhauer divided the rich into the real rich and the fake rich.
To the real rich, wealth is a barrier to disaster and misfortune, not a means for pleasure.
The real rich know the value of money too well, so they are rather modest and thorough in money management.
Money is used to develop strengths and build a culture.
Like Schopenhauer.
On the other hand, the fake rich spend money to show off to others.
They don't have any interest in mental activities such as education or knowledge, so they waste money to run for free.
The 40s is the time when economic activity is at its peak.
Even if you make a lot of money now, you have to know the importance of money and use it for mental activities.
Schopenhauer said,
If the ignorant becomes rich, the ignorant will lose his dignity.
Schopenhauer's Happiness
The smarter you are, the more unhappy you become.
If you are smart, you can succeed, but intelligence does not necessarily match happiness.
The reason why human life is more painful than animal life is because of high intelligence.
Even among people, smart people suffer more.
The more intelligent a person is, the more sensitive he is to pain.
Most of the pain that humans experience is due to the intellectual activity of imagination about the future and recollection of the past.
So the way to be happy is simple.
It's a little less smart.
It's trying not to think too much.
First, you have to suppress your excessive imagination about the future.
Imagination amplifies everything, so worries and fears are much greater than they actually are.
The same goes for recollection.
You have to try not to be afraid of the insults and insults of the past, and you have to be able to pass on the unpleasant things calmly.
If you don't follow these principles, no matter how much wealth and power you have, you will feel shabby and unhappy.
The golden age that lives life most passionately, and the ironic 40s that feel that life is pain.
Chopin's philosophy will be a firm compass in the wavering sea of the 40s.
Philosophy class that controls the crisis of the mind.
Chopin in 40s.
