Sinop was a beautiful Naiad nymph. Few Greek mythological characters were as beautiful as her. Zeus obviously did not ignore this beauty.
The supreme god tried to seduce her, but Sinop repulsed him and fled. Zeus pursued the nymph, but this one, fast and agile, kept the god at a distance.
The divinity pursued Sinop from Greece to the Black Sea in Asia Minor, where the exhausted nymph was finally caught up.
Zeus, realizing that the nymph was frightened, tried to calm her down. To please her, he promised her to fulfill all the wishes of Sinop and to do everything in his power to fulfill his will.
But Zeus was disconcerted by the request of the nymph. She told him that she wanted to remain a virgin for eternity. The cunning nymph Sinop thus managed to escape from Zeus the insatiable.
