Brahma is a deity that represents the universal creative force.
He is part of the Trimurti, the great Hindu trinity alongside Shiva and Vishnu.
This god represents balance, while Vishnu and Shiva represent two opposing forces, destruction and subsistence.
Brahma is the lord of time.
For this god, a day lasts 4,320 million years for a mortal.
At the dawn of time, he created Saraswati, the beautiful goddess of higher knowledge.
She became his wife and participated alongside him in the creation of the universe.
All living beings are from Brahma.
Brahma is represented with four heads, each reciting one of the four Vedas and looking in one direction.
Originally, he had a fifth head, but it was torn by Shiva because she had dared to insult the god of destruction.
The god also has four arms.
In one of them, he holds a rosary representing the cycles of time in which the universe works.
In another, he holds a book, a symbol of knowledge.
In his third hand, he holds a pot of holy water, a symbol of cosmic energy.
The last hand contains a lotus flower, which represents nature and the essence of life.
The god travels the universe on a divine sign.
The animal can distinguish pure milk from that which is mixed with water.
Brahma represents the ability to distinguish good from evil.
Brahma is a particularly important deity in Hinduism.
Unlike Vishnu and Shiva, whose temples are scattered throughout India, there is only one great temple in his honor.
It is located in Pushkar, the place where Brahma dropped a lotus flower.
The petals fell and transformed the region into a sacred place, creating Lake Pushkar.
At Kartika's party for Nima, the people who bathe in the sacred lake are freed from their sins.
Brahma had to lead with his wife a sacrificial rite in Pushkar.
But as Saraswati was late for the ritual, the god married the beautiful Gayatri and began the ritual with his new wife.
When Saraswati saw Brahma with his new wife, she cursed him furiously.
This is why the god can only be venerated in Pushkar and there are no other important temples in Brahma's honor.
The cult of Vishnu and Krishna spread and eclipsed that of Brahma.
But the god of creation and authentic knowledge is the subject of special devotion from those who use the power of knowledge in their profession, such as teachers, students and scientists.
They can, with the help of God, take the path of true knowledge.
