Epic day in the AUSTRIAN ALPS! 🇦🇹✨ Hohenwerfen Castle & Sound Of Music trail

Today, we will take you a day trip from Salzburg to the beautiful Werfen high mountain town to visit Austria's Alps. In this video, we will hike (and sing!) On the way hiking Sound of Music, as well as visit Hohenwerfen Castle, so you are invited to join us in the adventure.

Going from Salzburg to Werfen is easy. There is a straight train to Werfen with many trips every day. If you miss the train live as we did, you can take the train to Bischofshofen and then return to a station to Werfen. The travel time is 45 minutes to 1 hour, giving you a super easy trip from Salzburg! And the perfect introduction about Austria's Alps.

Our first stop of the day was Hohenwerfen Castle, built from 1075 to 1078. This is considered a sister castle with Hohensalzburg, the fortress overlooking the city of Salzburg. Hohenwerfen is located on a high mountain on the Salzach valley and is surrounded by mountains. A, The great Alps of Austria! We have participated in a tour instructing us to access the Chapel, Darkness, Arts and Clock Tower, where you have some truly impressive vision of the town below. ! One thing to note before you visit Hohenwerfen Castle is that it is only open from April to November, so it is not an attraction year round.

After the visit to the castle, we walked on the long road on the Sound of Music road overlooking the Austrian's Alps. On the way, we have encountered all kinds of interesting works of arrangement connected to the songs in the movie. One of the highlights is the resting area with wooden benches engraved with the lyrics of Sound of Music. The scene from that observatory is spectacular. Finally, we went to a simple field, which was where Maria taught children to sing clothes and they like picnic.

Back to the town, we ate at Stiege N ° 1 and delicious food! Sam ate Schnitzel with potatoes, and I ordered roasted pork with bread and vegetables. This meal is one of the highlights in our trip to Austria.
