So guys, after much deliberation, I decided that I should use a different bag this time on the
plane because I'm always using my Dior Book Tote. It's light and I can just chuck all my stuff,
my cameras and everything else inside and I can just put it on the floor and I don't feel like,
you know, heartache when my bag is on the floor. But since I'm going to Japan and the best place
and the cleanest place on earth to actually use my Birkin. So yes, I'm going to lug this B35
canvas on the plane this time. Terrence said, well, just use it. If there's anywhere in the
world that is safe for you to use your bags, it's Japan. So coming from the man who tells me
don't bring this, don't wear that, no jewelry when we travel and stuff. Okay, when he says,
all right, let's go. So when I travel, you'll see that I'm always in my sweats.
I like to be comfortable. Comfort is key. Yeah, this is soft and comfortable. Like I said guys,
so what's in my bag? Usually I always have cables with me. My little wallet, of course,
wet tissues from Cloversoft and I like that. What is this? These are my extra batteries and
SD cards for just in case I need them. Touch-up pouch with my makeup inside. Yeah,
lipstick, blotters, a compact powder, a mouth spray and eye drops and of course,
a comb so that I can comb my hair before I land. Yep, and that's about it. Yes, I know I'm missing
my passport, but that is for Terence. So I'm ready to go guys. See you in Japan.
For the first time ever, you have one luggage. How is that possible? A bit shocking that I only
have one luggage because that has never happened before. I guess it's summertime
and I packed just the exact amount of stuff that I need. No extra, no changing. Every day,
just one outfit. Well, I had to call my helper to make sure that she didn't forget
like one luggage or something like that. So I guess they are superb at packing.
2012, my favourite. I'm having a glass of champagne because it's dinner time
and for this trip, I actually brought Callista's camera. I thought that it'll be interesting to
play with this one and I found out that it's actually not as wide angle as I thought it
would be. Thank God, I always have my trusty Leica Q. There's always the Leica.
Good morning, Tokyo. Hello, my lovelies. Welcome back to All About Jamie. We are now in Tokyo.
Hi, Tokyo. And we have brought out Very Good Appetite with us this time. So we are going to
be eating a lot as usual because that's what we love to do the most and something different this
time because Terence is so into coffee. He's going to be a barista. I'm not going to be a
barista but I am into coffee. So, you know, Tokyo has the best specialised coffee places,
single origin coffees and all that. So we're going to check some of them out
this trip. I'd like to take you guys with us. And the first stop we're going to for lunch
today is a restaurant that everybody knows. This is the first Michelin star restaurant that I've
ever been to many, many years ago before it became so famous. I haven't remembered what it is.
Hey guys, it is summer and it is pretty hot. I think it's around like 36 degrees. No, it's not.
No, it's not? 33 degrees. Okay, it's 33 degrees but soon it's going to be 36 degrees. So,
a light tweed outfit and the only place in the world that I will travel with this
unique piece Birkin because Japan is super safe.
So, this is my favourite dish. It's called the langoustine.
Terence is having the izaki which is called chicken grunt. It's a diet size.
Small size. But when you saw the menu was chicken grunt. Yeah, chicken grunt. And then you thought
it was some dangerously rich part. Look at hers. It's huge. Mine is so big. Mine is so big I don't
know what to say. Firstly, I kind of told Terence that you know it's like 62,000 yen. Confirm very
big. He said, no man. 62,000 yen. Sorry, I'm not 62,000 yen. Oh, 6,200. 6,200 is 62,000. I'll be very,
very sure. I'm walking out of here. Okay, it's 6,200 yen. I say confirm very big. He said, no lah.
That 62,000 dollars will get you nothing. See, this is nothing. Damn big. Okay, the coffee
It looks pretty silky. It's very silky. And this is the espresso toast. Let me try the coffee.
It's weird. It's pretty weird. Okay, I like how light the cup is and that the glass is really
thin. So it's like drinking wine from a very refined glass.
We're going to eat coffee. Something like a very kind of custardy.
All right. I don't know how many coffees he's going to make me drink every day.
Tell me that we are going for another coffee. Because I can't take any. When you look at the
coffee machine and it's my team. Sorry. You're a snob. Another coffee.
Oh, what's so special? It does look good.
First try. Sugar.
You know, you know. If you know, you know. IYKYK. Wow, Terence, isn't this the police station
in Omotesando that you came to pick up your lost wallet the last time? It is. And now I'm going to
pick up something else. I don't know. I just said I lost something. See what they've written to me.
Oh, please. They are going to ask you a lot of questions. And before you know it, it's dinner time.
And I'm still so full from all the coffee and the like, what was that? The sandwich. Donuts.
You cannot face the other side and speak English. Anyway, we are at dinner and this place has got
What else? That's all. That's all. Okay. I don't know what else they have. And what's the name of this place?
That's a very big foie gras, honey. Are you sure you can do it? No, man. It's a bit. It's a gout waiting
to happen. It's a bit rich. But you know what? I'm just going to suck it up, get some meth into my body
And you are going to exercise tomorrow morning for two hours anyway.
Absolutely divine. The miso sauce is so good.
The sauce is so good. Okay. Try it. All right.
Camera? Video?
Yeah, very painful. The sun. Why are you having the, what's that? A parka? Yes, because the sun is scorching hot.
And this is a UV parka. Protects my shoulders from burn. Well, after Mexico, when I got burned,
it took me three weeks to get back my original color. Yeah, I don't really want to have a burn.
So I have got SPF 50 under this parka as well on my body. Of course, my face. This is the dress code.
Where are we going now? Very good sushi. All right. I love Japanese taxis because
it's always super clean. It smells good too. I'm starting my sushi lunch and the first piece is
Okay, we found another coffee place. This is the Dior cafe in Ginza and we're gonna
enjoy some latte art. CD latte art. Yeah. Okay. Oh, so this is the Dior latte art and this is the
It's so fine. So beautiful. How do they do it? Look, look, look. The milk is sown correctly. Wow. All these macaroons.
So pretty. Look at the Dior designs. Star, the CD, and the prettiest pink in the ganache.
And Terence is having the CD. You can actually choose which design you want. They have the Dior
star, a ganache, and the CD. So let me try that. And the CD star as well. CD star, yeah. But technically this is not
latte art because this is stenciled on. Oh, I see. It's not freehand. This is good enough for me because
it's a feast for my eyes with a beautiful setting and, you know, it just all adds up. But you agree
it's very weak. Weak coffee doesn't do it. Yeah, but it's 6 p.m. I want my coffee weak. And the price
is $20 for this cup of coffee. Okay, that is very expensive. Yes. That is very, very expensive because
the coffees we've had yesterday, they were super good and I think they were like less than $10.
on where we can go today. We're going to Daikanyama. Daikanyama, which surprisingly is not very far
from where we're staying. So yeah, we are going to check out. There's a place called
Tempura Motoyoshi. It's the one that we went to the last time to have tempura. But this one,
it's a bit different. It's Tempura Desserts. Well, Tempura Desserts. That is right up my alley.
Okay, so what else do I want to do today? I want to see if there's anything interesting that I can
buy because we've just been like eating and eating. So it's time to do some shopping.
These are all candy, like caramel. Yes, it's caramel. What's with the numbers?
This is a caramel shop. Oh, I want to buy this. Well, and while I'm here, I'm going to get a
coffee, a cold brew. This is such a hot day. This is the cold brew that I ordered. It's called
number sugar coffee. It's got some milk at the bottom. Is this condensed milk? No.
Cream. Oh, it's so nice. I really like it.
You have to mix it up. I love it, I love it. You have to mix it up. Yeah.
It's nice. It's like there's caramel inside. Show me the...
It's very nice. I don't know. It's caramel inside.
That is sweet. Okay, oh my god, hot today. I'm about to just like... We have just finished lunch.
We did a little bit of shopping and we are... I think the day goes by. This is Tempura Moto.
Getting this one called lollipop, which Terrence is trying. It's really nice. It has a very
fruity flavour. I like it. Oh, okay.
So apparently, the coffee here is all tailored to your like, what you like.
Whoa, this candy apple is so good.
It's the best one I've had. Really? On to our next destination.
At the Mercedes building. Upstairs? Downstairs? Coffee? Yes. Downstairs.
Maybe downstairs coffee. Oh, why not upstairs? I think I'll have this one. Must be good.
Maybach is expensive. Expensive car. Terrence seems very happy with the latte art.
And how much is this coffee? $4.80, can you believe it? For a damn good price.
Oh my god, I think this is like my fifth coffee today.
Just cinnamon inside.
Tonight's dinner venue, we are at Le Sputnik. Le Sputnik in Repongi. And what kind of cuisine is
that? It's French-Japanese, one Michelin star, highly recommended by a friend. So let's check it
out. Menu tonight and we are starting with seaweed. Seaweed.
Next dish. Is this Ayu? Yes, Ayu. Okay, so this is the fish that we are going to have next.
It's one of my favorite fish. Oh, really? Yeah. From the tank to the table.
Two kinds of flour, this is wheat flour and this is...
Packed up and ready to go back to Singapore. Hope you guys have enjoyed
this little short trip with us in Tokyo and I'll see you in my next video. Ciao!
