Snooker Best Shots Of All Timeless Snooker Shots Recreated

Recently I've been looking at timeless snooker shots and found some incredibly tough pots
from completely different eras of the game but as usual I'm going to be finding out which of
these shots is best by recreating them as accurately as possible and then playing them
in the fewest possible attempts. So where better to start than with Ronnie O'Sullivan who in this
timeless shot not only manages to pot this difficult brown but make the cue ball arc
Because you have to play this shot so hard I wasn't even expecting to get anywhere near the
brown on my first attempt let alone pot it but having done so I felt a little bit unlucky to
catch the edge of the blue when the cue ball seemed to be on the right line. However after
this I started to realise how difficult the shot really was. I was just playing this with topspin
and hoping that would create the right angle to get into the pink but I wasn't sure if I
needed a trace of side. Eventually I found out I didn't and I just needed topspin to get into the
pink. Alex Higgins now with a shot on the brown that I'm not sure I'm going to be able to play
because I doubt I have the cue power to spin the cue ball back round three cushions and get topside
for the blue. Another incredibly tough shot but as I already explained at the beginning of this
video they all are and you wouldn't normally expect me to be able to screw back as far as
you can on a professional table however this is a table from the 80s so you would have thought I'd
have a chance with this one but it was proving harder than I expected and ended up chipping the
ball off the table which cost me a bit of confidence on the next few shots as I couldn't quite get into
the white as much as I needed to and I'm playing this with backspin and right hand side to make
the cue ball move around the cushions however I just couldn't quite get enough on it to get to
the third cushion even though I was using every single trick I know to get more backspin on the
cue ball however I hadn't quite hit one perfectly yet of the correct angle and when I did it still
wasn't good enough to get the cue ball any further around the table than this I couldn't even make it
to the cushion but unfortunately that's the limit of my cue power. Mark Selby isn't just potting a
difficult blue he also manages to get the perfect cannon to leave him on the next red. I wasn't 100%
sure what to do with this one except play it with topspin and punch it a little bit to just widen
the angle and somehow that managed to work perfectly and I ended up nicely on a red.
Tony Mio isn't rolling the pink down the cushion now this thing's going in at real speed and this
is going to be incredibly tough to recreate. I worked out from the angle that I didn't really
have to do anything with the cue ball to get it to go three times across the table and down for
the black all I had to do was hit it hard enough and as you can see it's the speed that makes this
shot really challenging with the object ball being really close to the cushion I had to be unbelievably
accurate to get it to go in the pocket and as we've already seen even if I play it as well as I can
the pocket's still very unlikely to accept it so I'm going to need a little bit of luck with this
which I will eventually get the question just is how many shots I'm going to have to play before
the pink eventually drops in the pocket. Well it was better than I thought and I got the cue ball
in roughly the right area. Stephen Maguire is powering his way onto the black next to complete
a century break. Again this is a really tough pot but this time I have to get enough backspin on the
cue ball to get down for the black at the same time and I wasn't sure I was going to be able to
do that but after a few shots I worked out that I probably was going to be okay to get the ball
back far enough but unfortunately on my third attempt when I finally potted it I didn't quite
generate enough spin and it took me a few more goes to properly get through the underside of
the cue ball which can be a challenge when you're close to the cushion like this. Eventually I did
it but I got a bit too close to the cushion so I wanted to give it another go and a couple of
attempts later I got the line a lot better however I was just a little bit short of pace but not
too bad. Alex Higgins looks out of position until he finds a double this one's going to be tough
because of the power he played it at. Normally I get a shot like this within about three attempts
however as I was explaining because I have to hit it so hard that's become a lot less likely
and I found on quite a few of these attempts because of the power I was injecting into the
cue ball that I didn't end up hitting the red anywhere near where I wanted to and it was a
number of attempts before I started to get near the pocket so I was pretty pleased that when I
finally did it went in fairly quickly. And to rival that on the other table albeit a few years later
Jamie Cope uses this shot to find his way out of trouble. This is a really clever shot because it
attempts to either pot or remove the reds that are close to the pocket and at the same time
maneuver the cue ball into a position where they're covered. One of the main reasons this
shot's incredibly difficult is because you have to get very close to the pink in order for the
shot to work and it's very easy to just catch the edge of it and also as we've already seen
even if you make contact with the red it's not guaranteed to end up in the pocket. Because of
all of this I wasn't sure this shot was even going to be possible so I was delighted when it actually
went in but what was the cheekiest double this or the previous one? Cue the music. I think both of
these are great examples of a cheeky double but I'm giving 4 cheerleaders to Jamie Cope and 5
to Alex Higgins so he's this week's winner. Jimmy White's also using the jaws of the middle pocket
now to help him escape from a snooker. This is a clever shot but once again one that you need a
little bit of luck with because as I've found out just hitting roughly the right place on the jaw
doesn't necessarily mean you're going to hit the blue and it looked to me like I was hitting
exactly the same place on the jaw each time and it kept missing in slightly different places
but I still didn't make contact with the blue. Eventually I got it but it took me a little bit
too long. Not only does Hossein Vafai pop the pink from a tight angle here, he also finds a way to
get on the next red. This is another one that I was a little bit disappointed with because as soon
as I started playing it I quickly realised it wasn't as difficult as I thought it was and I
didn't really have to strike the pink as hard as I thought I'd have to. That said I really did
struggle with this one considering how hard the shot was I should have got it a lot quicker than
this and I was just relieved it finally went in. We've got an Anthony McGill shot coming up but
first we've just got to find Kyling in Oslo Norway which is there. The next shot is Anthony McGill
finding a cannon to knock a red that's close to the pocket. This one requires a lot of stun and
side spin and it's tough because you have to stun the cue ball very wide on quite a tight angle.
When I played the shot somehow I knocked into the other red and potted the ball and also doubled it
so I just stuck with that. But the next player powering a ball down the cushion is Martin Gould
with this red. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get off the jaw here to make the split on the
red and the pink but I should at least be able to avoid going in off. That's the plan anyway but yet
again this is another powerful shot down the cushion where I've got to make the pocket accept
the ball. However this will be a little bit easier this time because I'm closer to the red
and it's a little further off the cushion. But I was still pleased to get it this quickly even
though I didn't quite get a cue ball far enough across the table to hit the pink.

a classic Judd Trump shot. Judd uses backspin to arc the cue ball down the cushion and find the
right place on the cushion and then uses sidespin to make the angle into the reds. To start off with
I was putting way too much sidespin on the cue ball and then tried to back it off a little bit
which caused me to miss and go a bit closer to the pocket. My third attempt looked a little bit wide
but I got the perfect cannon and end up in position on a red which was all I was trying to do.
So for the results third place goes to Tony Mio with the pink down the cushion there wasn't any
point to this shot but it was incredibly difficult. Second goes to Ronnie O'Sullivan because it was
incredibly difficult hot on the brown but it was just as tough to get the cannon on the pink and
the red. But first place definitely goes to Alex Higgins even though I used every trick I knew
and hit the ball about as well as I could I didn't get anywhere near this one. Well that was quite the
