Elton John is back home and in good health,
reportedly after a trip to the hospital this weekend.
A representative for Elton John says he slipped
and fell yesterday at his home in the south of France.
NBC's Maura Barrett is following that story for us.
So Maura, I guess, do we know anything more
about what happened and any more details
about how he's doing now?
Well luckily, and I want to reassure you,
it does seem like he's doing okay.
He is back home and resting with his family
in the south of France.
We did get some details from a representative.
He said that they can confirm that Elton John
had slipped yesterday at his home in the south of France,
visited a local hospital as a, quote, precautionary measure,
and then following checkups,
he was immediately discharged this morning
and is now back at home,
and as you mentioned, in good health.
So he did spend the night overnight at a hospital,
but again, sounds like it was just precautionary
after what was categorized as just a slip,
but this might have been concerning to the 76-year-old star
because he did suffer a more intense fall
just a few years ago.
He had to get a serious hip procedure
that took some time to recover from.
He had to put his farewell tour on hold, actually,
following that because of the length of recovery,
but he puts on a three-hour show
when he's performing like this,
so it's understandable why he needed to pause,
but again, this might have just been
an inconsequential fall or slip
that he just wanted to get double-checked,
given that passed with his health.
He has been staying in the south of France
with his husband and his two children
after wrapping up his farewell tour
in July, and as we know, Elton John has said
that he wants to continue creating music,
but might put a hold on touring,
with the exception of some odd shows here and there
because of his physical health
and because he wants to spend time with his family, Kate.
Yeah, but we're wishing him all the best.
I mean, that wrap-up tour was unbelievable in July
when he had his final performance.
Maura Barrett, thank you so much, appreciate it.
