Just be careful for crocs man, seriously. Get him in, get him in, get him back, help him, help him.
Just secure everything that's not secured guys. It's going to be pretty rough through this channel.
My Aaron's just swum out here to jump on the boat. I'm taking off to the airport,
the weather's come in. Having to head back down, back down south unfortunately, but
wrapping up a month of incredible, incredible journeys up the east coast and up through the
Torres Straits. So this is me checking out for now, but thanks for coming along for an incredible
adventure. You can see the storm just coming in the background now, it's just gusting. So probably
a great time to leave, but always, always a sad one. Just going to have to leave this character,
keep playing up through the islands. All right, now we've got to get to the airport,
island style. Apparently you need shoes to catch a flight, so we'll see if they even let me on.
Careful bro, seriously rough. Cookies come, that's what they call it in language, cookie,
northwesterly winds. It's the old Torres Strait Island airport run. Yeah, it's come the time to
fly out unfortunately. Probably fortunately at the right time, it's just started to absolutely
blow. I'm getting out while I can, I'll be back soon. She all right? Yeah, she's all right.
This is the protected bay where we're in now, the most protection you can get. Is that the,
the shuttle? Probably take some thongs. Yeah, you definitely need those. Maybe.
Well, Jaco's going home. Bugger. I understand he's got, he's got another chapter to embark on.
Grateful for the time we've had, brought us closer together and we'll do it again. We'll
do it again. I'm mostly concerned about just having to put shoes on for the first time
between your feet. I'm real happy about that. Yeah. All right bro, safe travels man.
Jack, if you're watching this, you're lucky you don't have to put up with this weather bro.
Oh, that was the best month ever, man. That was the best.
How good? Let's do it. So we're just going to ride out the next couple of days
until this weather passes and hopefully on the other side of it,
we get some form of respite and some calmer weather, but we'll see how it eventuates.
If you pull, I'll push the boat out and then we'll start the motor up.
How cool is that man? Like just washed in. I know. Thanks man.
I am so happy with that. Thanks H. You never know when you're going to find
ocean treasure. You absolutely never know. What do you need? A mask. Yeah,
just wait. I'll find you a mask. Just be careful for crocs, man. Seriously.
He writes, he reckons. We've just come into these mangroves because we've seen,
it looks like there's some water trickling down from one of these mountains behind us.
And there has been a bit of rain in the last couple of days as we've been bunkered down on
Thursday Island. So we've come for a cruise around one of the other islands and yeah,
hopefully there's a fresh water source up here. So we're going to go for a bit of a quick
walk up there to hopefully get a fresh water dip. So this fellow can finally have a shower.
So we can finally have a bloody shower. Yell out if you see any fish,
man. Cause it'd be good to get a fish for the day. It's a pretty big tide, but it's dropping
quickly. It has to be relatively quick so we don't end up on the rocks in the mangroves. We've
just put front anchor out and then we've just done a stern line. What's that? Oh,
let's whack a couple of rabbit fish. Yeah. You're the gun. Apparently there's a rabbit fish,
which are a delicacy up here. Good luck, mate. Don't miss. Well done, mate. What do we got here?
Rabbits. Rabbit fish. How are we cooking them? Roasted on the open fire,
open flame if you can. Sounds good to me, mate. Sounds like 80% of my meals. Rabbit fish.
It's like a sour sweet. How good is this, man? It's all fresh water. You can see if there was,
you can definitely see if there was a lot more rain, that would be a pretty
pumping little waterfall down these rocks here. Should be right to drink, eh? Yeah. We haven't
really had that many fresh water swims over the last month. Most of the time it's been when
rain's come in and we've just taken our clothes off and been saturated by the squall. But even
though there's not a lot of water here running, it's still really nice to get the salt off.
Might be a bit hard to see from up here, so I'll get the drone up later, but
pretty specky view. Aaron, there is an infinity pool. Look at this. It's a very rocky infinity
pool, but you got that view. I've hiked up even further and the view just keeps getting better
and better, funnily enough. It just seems like you could just literally keep hopping your way up
to different tiers of views and little swimming holes. So I don't really have time with the
tide dropping today, but if in the next week we get a little bit more rain and we've got the right
tides during the day, I'll 100% come back here and hike up it a bit further. These rocks are
really good to climb over. It's got super good grip. It's always a beautiful feeling to come
back down where you anchored your boat and it's still there. It's just the best.
Very impressed. A lot of flavor for a small fish. How are you liking the squalls of your catch, Matt?
Bloody lovely. That's our last day today. Last day. What a way to start the new year
with Barstow and rabbits. What's up, boys? Are you getting some line on it now?
Yes, Sigi. Legend. How was that? I thought you were going to go straight over. I was going to
break all your rods. That was a big first run. Honestly. We've just come here for a sunset
fish with a couple of our new mates here and Sigi's just been busted, like just fully whacked.
Something really big just almost took him over the side of the boat.
We've been fighting it for about five minutes and I'm really interested to see what it is.
What are you calling it, mate? You got any ideas?
Surely mackerel would have snipped you off, hey?
Reckon it's a shark?
All right, all right, let's follow it. We still haven't seen this fish,
but we hooked it sort of somewhere over there on that point like a mile away.
Now we're in 10 meters of water. Yep, we're just following this fish around.
Oh, we're going to lose light pretty soon, but we're still fighting the big fish.
It's got to be a big GT. It's got to be a big GT. Still fighting. We're getting there.
All right, a bit of a fish update. 40 pound leader, 40 pound braid, small soft plastic.
45 minutes we've been fighting this GT. We've got a side of it and we're trying to gaff it
for dinner. It just keeps running. It keeps running. It's got so much fight. It's got so
much spirit and we've reached the one hour mark. He's doing well. How are you hanging in there,
Sig? Not too shabby. Not too shabby. He's getting there. He's getting there. This is a serious fish
on light gear. We've literally, we're probably two and a half miles away from where we initially
caught it and we're now floating around in the dark. Hopefully, hopefully we get him pretty soon.
Yeah, maybe tail it, Aaron. That's a big fish. That's a really, really big GT.
Here, just tail him, I reckon. Tail him, I reckon, Aaron. Don't touch the line, Aaron.
Hold him good. Proper, proper, proper, proper, proper, proper. Get him in, get him in, get him in.
Get him in, get him in.
What is that?
Oh, my God. That's probably the biggest GT I've ever seen.
That was an hour and 10 minutes. Wow.
Well done, man. Well done. That was worth the wait. That is massive.
From shallow water, mind you, like what, how deep was it? It was like two meters deep up there and
then it just towed us around and we chased it around for an hour and close to 15 minutes.
Holy ----. Well done, boys. My arm's broke. All right, put him down, put him down.
Oh, ****, I got a cramp. Oh, ----, I got a cramp again. And that is dinner tonight.
