Jude Bellingham's transfer from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid has been the biggest
start of this summer so far with a fee that could rise to £115 million. Before he settles
into his new life in Madrid he's been in North London today at the McDonald's Football Funday
and he's been speaking to our reporter James Savundra. Well Jude you've got a smile on your
face just how important are days like this here today in North London? Yeah massively important
for myself but more importantly the kids you know it's a really humbling day to come and
get peppered by the kids with a load of footballs. I've been in goal a lot so yeah I've got peppered
quite a bit but yeah I think it's so important what McDonald's are doing here with the fun
football because you know it just gives everyone a chance to get involved with the game. I think
it's so diverse, the ages and everything like that and they can all just mix and meet kids
that they've not met before and have a good day really so I think it's the biggest one they've
done. 500 odd kids here today celebrating 250,000 kids being you know given the chance to play by
McDonald's so it's a brilliant day everyone's having fun boys girls no matter what so it's
really good. Fun is the key word really is it's creating that environment which is pressure free
where at this stage the consequence is the result doesn't matter. That's it yeah it's not just about
getting straight into the games and people kind of you know worrying about the score I think the
things we've done the most is like stuck in the mud and bulldog so far so yeah it's just it's just
fun it's important that the kids just enjoy playing football you know meeting new people
and yeah that's the most important thing today. I think the main question the kids have been
asking you is why didn't you join my team this summer? What has been the main advice that you
give to these guys who would like to try and follow in your footsteps one day? Yeah just play
with a smile really especially at this age you know as you get older there's so much pressure
on results and contracts and all that stuff so I'd say just use the time now while they're young
to just enjoy it play with a smile and you know try new skills go in goal if you want go and play
up front just just do what you want and do whatever's going to make you happy and enjoy the
game. You've had a few weeks to come to terms with your massive news yourself have you sort of come
back down to earth has it sunk in now that you're a Real Madrid player? Yeah I'm always down to earth
I think I was just happier on that day but yeah down to earth always I'm still just as grateful
for the um for the opportunity but I think now I'm kind of itching just to get back really and
just to start playing I think that's that's the thing now that I'm waiting for the most. How
excited are you about this new chapter I mean can you even put into words what what it's going to
feel like for you? Not really I'm buzzing um it's a move that's like a dream move for me so
yeah I'm there now just as I said I feel like I've done all the talking and I've done all the
media and I've given all the answers but now I think it's just about getting ready and start
playing just so happy to be at the club. You've been able to achieve so much in your young life
already the word pressure does that mean anything to you when it comes to your move to Madrid? Not
really I think it follows you everywhere you know people are saying to me that there's there's
pressure on the move and stuff like that I think wherever you I was going to take my next step
there was going to be pressure so it's one of those things that now I get the chance to enjoy
because I'm under it so much so it's it's all about finding ways of coping and I'm having a
great time trying. What targets are you going to be setting yourself personally this season in Madrid?
Just to try and win really that's why the club have sort of signed me um that's why I'm there
that's why I've joined the biggest club in the world is to try and keep adding to the history
and win trophies. And are you keeping your eye on what's going on in the transfer window at the
moment so much has been happening over the last few days. My deal's done my brother's deal's done
I couldn't really care less what goes on in the transfer window for the rest of it I'm just trying
to you know watch my brother enjoy his football and then enjoy mine and everyone else all the
best to them. Bellingham family must be pretty happy at the moment what Joe's been doing? Very
very busy though we've been up and down the country and in Europe and all over the place so
it's been a busy summer but really enjoyable. And talk us through what your steps are here in
England but soon you will be heading to Madrid how does it all work the logistics of a move like
this? To be fair it's just it's quite easy to be fair you know the logistics wise I think all the
other stuff's that we've passed the complicated points now so it's just about getting over to
Madrid soon for pre-season and cracking on with that. Final question for me you'll be keeping
on the Lionesses this summer heading down under in a few days time? Yeah 100% I think the the
girls are already history makers and I'm very confident that they'll do it again and you know
just continue to inspire the next generation of girls you look out there today and you see the
impact that they're having you know with Beth and all the other girls that are here today
Nikita, Jem it's it's unbelievable the impact they're having on these kids because they come
here you know thinking it's kind of a boys sport originally and it's just lucky that
McDonald's and and everyone here today is so inclusive and they continue to to kind of put
football in in the minds of young girls and now they want to go and play and they're just as good
as the boys they're competing well and it's really enjoyable to see.
