But first, just 16 days after leading Manchester City to their first Champions League title which
secured the treble, Ilkay Gundogan has left to join Barcelona on a free transfer after seven
years with the club. During his time at the Etihad, the German midfielder made 304 appearances
across all competitions. He scored 60 goals. This season he capped in the side to their most
successful of all seasons. So Gundogan now joins Barca on a two-year deal with the option of a
third and a release clause of 400 million euros. Well Gundogan might need a new trophy room in
Barcelona because he leaves City after, look at this, a trophy-laden career winning five
Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and of course the Champions League in his
final game. Well they won't be for much longer but Gundogan and Pep are actually neighbours.
Pep made no secret of his desire to keep the midfielder at City and often
spoke glowingly of his qualities on and off the pitch.
He's so important player and humanity and leading with silence and you have to talk,
everybody listen and this is so important. It's not how many bad times you talk, nobody
cares. A football player defined perfectly, so play attacking midfielder is the guy who has a
sense of goal and assists, so intelligent in the movement and every moment you have to do
is the right position. You can play holding midfielder, so yeah, one of the exceptional
players in all senses, incredibly remarkable. I mean would you like him to stay? I love him,
I adore him. I'm married but I adore him.
