So excited to share the second house tour that I recently filmed. This time I'm taking you to the countryside of Dordogne, where Marielle has created a truly relaxing gîte and family home using brocante and flea market finds. She also offers relaxing massages and beauty / wellness treatments. I gifted myself a short retreat here and it was heavenly!

Bonjour everyone, I'm Marloes, a Dutch business owner and I moved to Burgundy in France in 2019
with my family. And on my channel I share our slow and simple life here in the French countryside.
I talk about brocante, cooking, beautiful places to visit in our region and other parts of France
and every now and then I do a home tour in which I take you to a gorgeous French house
and I'm happy to share another one of those beautiful houses with you in this video.
Welcome to the beautiful Dordogne in France where Marielle has created Les Marguerites,
a gorgeous farmhouse, a gîte and a beauty center. I have gifted myself a small retreat here after I
met Marielle online. I also came here to film Marielle's house and the gîte. This is where I'll be
staying in the next couple of days. This was a former little grange that Marielle turned into
a gorgeous gîte that can actually house a family as well because there are two single beds on the
Every little detail of this house and the property are absolutely gorgeous.
Marielle does retreats here, individual retreats
that includes meditation, beauty treatments and simply just being in nature.
The gîte and Marielle's house have separate entrances and she is going to show me how she
turned this very abandoned and neglected home into a gorgeous rustic farmhouse.
Marielle had a really clear vision on what she wanted the house to look like
and it wasn't easy always to make that understand to the artisans that she hired to do it.
She wanted a simple concrete floor that she painted. She wanted her kitchen cabinets to be
made out of concrete blocks, rendered and then she painted them using a lime wash paint. All those
things look very rustic and authentically French to us but really most French builders do not
understand that style. That is at least my experience and she said it was hers as well.
So I think she did a really good job getting the style that she wanted.
Almost all of her furniture and everything you see in this kitchen is thrifted and she really
wanted to go for that kind of style with deep brown and neutral tones. I think she did an amazing job
and she's actually planned to do a renovation this year because this kitchen has been in
almost 20 years so she's going to repaint the countertops and the floor but
I think as it is right now it's perfect and it looks really gorgeous.
So
Marielle has created a gorgeous small beauty salon just next to the Gite which is where we're going
now because it's time for a special treatment. It's called a Dr Houshka treatment which I've
always done in the Netherlands which is not so much about beauty but all about well-being
and beauty from the inside out and I wasn't able to find this anywhere near where I live so I was
so happy to see that she offers this and it was simply magical with the doors open and the music
and the birdsong. Wow. I really have to adjust to this pace of not doing anything and actually
allowing somebody else take care of me and cook for me and make me feel comfortable and relaxed
which is what I do all the time for our guests and it took me a little adjusting but to be really
honest in a gorgeous place like this where everything invites you to slow down and just
relax it's not that difficult and I was really able to fully enjoy and immerse myself in that
experience. Marielle doesn't just offer these retreats here in Dordogne she also helps others
with their retreats where she assists them in either cooking for their clients or guests
and also offering her massage and beauty treatment services on the retreats of others which is a
beautiful way for her to travel around the world. It is my last night already here in the beautiful
Dordogne and we're having dinner together which was really really nice. If you'd like to stay here
all by yourself for a retreat or with somebody else or your family you'll find all the information
on this place and on Marielle's work in the description box. As always thank you so much
for watching and I will see you next time.
