In the Leccio hamlet of the municipality of Reggello, in Tuscany, the Sammezzano Castle stands on a hill, surrounded by a scrub of vegetation of 187 hectares, of which 65 make up the historic park.
It is the most relevant expression of orientalist architecture in Italy. All the materials were made on-site by local artisans and workers.
Consisting of 24 rooms on the main floor, each uniquely decorated, and 70 in total, the castle features elements of Moorish art taken from famous monuments such as the Alhambra in Granada.
