Leylah Fernandez vs. Peyton Stearns | 2023 Rabat Round 2 | WTA Match Highlights

Perfectly taken from Stearns. French Open junior champion is Leila. Well taken. The Canadian, the fifth seed, holds serve to 15. There's a wonderful cross-court backhand from the American to open the court. How brave is that from Leila Fernandes? Massive. Backing herself on that dependable forehand. She's got such versatility on where she strikes and how she does it. Super solid. Two breaks of serve to... Oh, so quickly up to that drop shot, Leila Fernandes. Well played by Peyton Stearns. Stopping the run of games at three. Leila Fernandes on a mission. She snatches the second set in the blink of an eye with the fourth break of the American serve. So settled. Oh, wonderful. The back behind. So evident. Beauty skidded right through the tape of the line. Another super backhand return set the tone for the point. Super strike. That's the play right there. Whenever you're playing somebody fast on their feet, the back behind is prevalent, surely. Glorious angles from both players. What a point that was. It's fabulous from Leila Fernandes. For Peyton Stearns, it's a third tour quarterfinal of the season. 6-3, 2-6, 6-2. She comes through in two hours and two minutes, downing Leila Fernandes in some style.
