Hello I am Bénédicte Gaydy heritage curator at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs
And I welcome you today to the exhibition "The Unrestrained Drawing" at the Museum of Decorative Arts
In which we present nearly 500 drawings from the museum's collections
We structure the route in the form of ABCDR and for the letter S we focus on the design intended to attract
you precisely at the drawing intended to create dresses that then allow for seduction
With some focus on certain collections of the Museum among the important collections we have a collection dedicated to Paul Poiret
We have a fund dedicated to Elsa Schiaparelli and since 2013 thanks to a very generous donation
A fund dedicated to Marguerite Poratia who was the head pattern designer at Jeanne Lanvin
In this fund we find advertising projects such as the three examples we presented at the top of this wall
This one which plays on the composition of famous flacons by Jeanne Lanvin and Marguerite
This project by Madame Simone dressed by Jeanne Lanvin or Jeanne Renoir
And in the Marguerite Poratia fund there are also dozens and thousands of projects
Executed or not executed for hats bonnets dresses but also for evening pajamas in the Chinese or Oriental style
All of this illustrates on this beautiful green-blue paper from the 1920s-1930s which also appears in jewelry drawings
This illustrates the Parisian production of the 1920s and 1930s
What gives this collection its flavor is that it not only includes all these projects for Jeanne Lanvin that she created as part of her work alongside him
but also more personal and unexpected things like a wedding announcement which she quickly sketched in watercolor
The bride and groom's descent surrounded by their friends and some of the people who were present some of the characters who were at the wedding
and this shows his interest in fashion as it is experienced in exceptional moments and as it is worn in reality
