I'm your match commentator Thomas Holmes-Reed, thank you for joining us here in what is the
penultimate game week of this Serie A campaign. Game week 37. Fourth corner in the opening seven
minutes, Algello. Away there by Erlich, first time. Efforts towards goal. It's a mistake at the back.
Sampdoria lead Manolo Gabbiadini. Disaster at the back for Sassuolo.
And these fans who've come here to see off their side
will be jubilant with that early goal from Manolo Gabbiadini. A horror show for Ferrari.
Nothing Consigli could do. Manolo Gabbiadini. Sampdoria's top marksman this season helps himself
to number seven. And once again it is Sassuolo's frailties at the back that come to the fore
and it's cost them an early goal here at Marassi. Sassuolo have received plenty of
plaudits in recent seasons for the way they play. They're intense on playing out from the back but
it is a style of play that comes with the wrist and as we've seen it hasn't paid off for them
there. Berardi. Sassuolo looking for an immediate response. This is Said Berardi.
What a game here at the Luigi Ferraris. Domenico Berardi helps himself to his 11th
of the campaign. Just over 60 seconds between the two goals. Nine goals for Berardi against
Sampdoria in his career. He absolutely loves playing the Blucerchiati. It was a finish past
young goalkeeper Martin Turk. So sloppy from a Sampdoria point of view. Said will be happy with
his assist. It's his error that led to a Gabbiadini goal. Zortea. He's getting the better of Ammioni.
Zortea. This is Said. Enriqui. What is happening here at the Luigi Ferraris. Mateus Enriqui
peeling away at the back post. Unmarked. Three goals in three minutes. Zortea getting past
Ammioni far too quickly. And it's Mateus Enriqui at the back post. Nodding in just like he did
against Inter at San Siro a couple of weeks ago. Lovely controlled header down. Berardi
onto Mateus Enriqui. Nice touch from the Brazilian. This is Said. Loses his footing.
Tushvets. Berardi wanted a penalty but instead it's a yellow card for the Norwegian.
They'll be looking ahead to an arduous Serebii campaign to make it all the more bitter for
Tushvets. Now to turn. Zortea. Into Pinamonti. Pinamonti gathered by Turk. Pinamonti holding
off Matic. Berardi to cross with the left. Instead he looks for Rogerio. Takes a deflection.
Pinamonti. Turk got everything behind it. Pinamonti currently winning. I wonder why they're sitting
bottom of the table. From Oikonomu. Pagliarella. No foul from Obiang. Sassuolo play on. This is Said.
Taking on Oikonomu. Said. Said. Not far away. You can smell his first Serie A goal. The Norwegian
just couldn't apply the right bend on the ball. Looks as though he had Turk beaten at his far post.
People do tend to perch up off their seats as if something magical is about to happen.
He just has that quality. Talking of quality. It's a great ball in from Alcelo.
Trying to create one last big chance before the referee blows the halftime. It's been a strange
old season for Sampdoria. For so many weeks they were unable to score in front of goal.
They've now scored in eight of their last 12 games in Serie A. It's the defense that's been the
problem. They might be opened up once again here. Matthias Enrique dancing his way into the area.
Crashes his effort off the bar. Chance for one more. Big chance for Sampdoria.
Strong challenge there by Rui. That's a yellow card early on. Studs up challenge. He did win
the ball it seemed but referee not happy. Harry Winks. Well won back by Said. Space to burst
through here. Emil Said. Said easy for Turk. They have that chance in the first half. That
bending shot just coming up in early June. So definitely a chance for Sassuolo to get maximum
points. If they are to get maximum points from their final two games they would equal their best
ever tally in the Serie A campaign. 50 points. Looks as though Davide Fratezi will be the latest.
Zortea bombing forward. He's got Pinamonti in support. This is Mimo Berardi. Berardi onto Said.
Said. That was his big chance. He could have gone for goal himself. Sassuolo's number 10. He laid it
off to Said. Rui might drop here for Zortea. He forces a great save from Turk. Maxi Lopez onto
Rogerio. Rogerio heading to the byline. Cutting it back. They're queuing up. This is Berardi.
What a block amongst all of that. It was Moekonamu. It's wonderful things in the Premier League with
Brighton and Hove Albion. Their qualification to the Europa League for next season was confirmed
last night. De Rami getting the better of his man by Rami. Nogiello lets it run. This is Berardi
and Pinamonti. He had to score. Open at the back since the restart. Sampdoria and Jason Morillo.
Harry Winks losing out. Here they come once again. Sassuolo, Berardi, Pinamonti. His second
chance in a matter of moments and he's blasted this one wide of the target. Nogiello not giving
up just yet. Magliarella, Gabbiadini onto Nogiello. Beautiful play from Sampdoria. Nogiello
wants it. It's a tad quicker. Over towards Leris. Here is the Algerian now. Into the delight of the
Curva behind the goal. Sampdoria do win another corner. This time on the near side. Nogiello
with the delivery. All the way to Qualiarella and eventually an own goal. I'm not sure Qualiarella
can claim it. Gabbiadini leads the celebrations with 12 minutes to go. Great delivery from Nogiello.
Qualiarella peeling away at the back post. His effort rebounding off the post and it seems to
be Erlich who may have got the final touch. A moment to forget from the Croatian. Such a congested
penalty area. Erlich as you can see there putting the ball beyond Goncili. Gabbiadini trying to claim
it but that will go down as an Erlich own goal. Now then, is there time for another one?
Qualiarella twisting, turning. Did that strike the arm of Qualiarella? Referee says no.
Away by Obiang. Bayrami. He's got the pace to get away from Zanolli. Great tussle here between
Bayrami and Zanolli. It's the Albanian who gets the better. Back on to his right. Just wide of
goal. Not quite away from Bayrami. There really is time for a late winner here. Haruwi has Defrel
in support. Goes back to Berardi. Muru and Nogiello doubling up on Berardi. Great save from Turk. This
is Defrel. Wonderful save by the Slovenian to deny Maxim Lopez. It's a brief cameo. This is the
chance. What a save that is. One-handed by Martin Turk. Remember just making his third ever
Serie A appearance. Getting down low the teenager and keeping Sampdoria in this game.
These 11 players on the field for Sampdoria give Qualiarella the send-off that he so desperately
wants. A win on their final home game of the season. Their last in Serie A for the foreseeable
future of course. Sam Lammers. Paoletti. Back to Sam Lammers. Lovely give and go with Gabbiadini.
Sam Lammers. Consigli is there to ruin the party. The opposing flank. Rogerio.
Maxim Lopez. Queuing up in the centre. Berardi on to Pedro Obiang. Fantastic block on the edge of
the area from Ilkan. Ilkan showing too much of the ball to Haruwi. Berardi. Maxim Lopez wanted
it back quickly. Berardi instead goes out to Haruwi. Haruwi. That wasn't far away.
Haruwi. Won't seeing a corner. Very tired ball there from Domenico Berardi.
He has put in a fair shift. A game that had a little bit of everything.
