If Milan's destiny is no longer in their own hands, Sampdoria's fate has already been sealed.
Probably, that's probably been the valutation. I mean, I think the contact has been there,
but not enough probably to make Hernandez go down that way. I think that is the only
judgment that I can say from what we've seen on TV.
Now Noytink, who brought up 150 games in Serie A in the last match. That was a one-all draw against
Empoli. Cleverly done by Brahim Diaz, and now it's Rafael Leal. Lovely control,
and of course he scores. He might have been rusty in the derby, but he's looking sharp tonight.
Player of the month, last season's player of the year, and Milan's most important player by far.
Food we can see here. Big mistake because that's been a big mistake from defenders,
but Leal controls so sweetly and then puts the ball behind the net, but great pull from
the Spanish. Gunter couldn't stretch. Rafael Leal just knew he had to control perfectly into his
stride, and the fast start that Milan so clean. Title winning medal now. Zanolli missed the
Scudetto celebrations with Napoli, but he has something which is priceless. Game time,
and he has ability too. Zanolli with the cutback, and there is Collierella's goal.
His first of the season is the equalizer at San Siro. What is Zanolli made up from?
Nothing. Just three people away took it, and we spoil. Look at what he does. He does so well,
so strong, very quick, and then he's got the ability to pick up, basically.
His captain there who scores an unbelievable goal again. What a great goal. Meno is beaten
just as he was by Lautaro Martinez. Here it comes from Tonali. Malik Chao, what a save that is by
Radaglia. Lovely, everything lovely. Good keeping, good keeping because it wasn't easy. Watch out now.
Milan have taken the next corner very quickly, and it comes from Brahi Diaz, and Giroud scores.
Samp weren't level for long. Goalkeeper made an unbelievable save, and now of course this
fantastic cross from River Indias for Giroud is so easy to put the ball behind the net,
but what horrible defending from Sampdoria. It only required a glance, but Olivier Giroud finds
the corner after six matches without finding it. The difference between, okay, maybe Milan didn't
score many goals, but they lost so many on their own. Here's Raphael Liao. He's in once more.
Is that a penalty? Coray Gunter lunging in just as Raphael Liao slammed on the brakes.
Penalty we can see here. Liao just got this unbelievable control. Outside foot control just
to avoid the defender, but of course Gunter was sliding there, and there is no chance he could
control himself. That's penalty all life. Sampdoria having scored the equalizer have quickly gone.
Giroud being made to wait by the match official here as they just check the penalty. All confirmed
now. Giroud to give Milan some precious breathing space. He converts from 12 yards,
and the minor scare was just a momentary blip for Milan. The side, so very good one, 3-1 Milan.
Double figures for Olivier Giroud, justifying the continued faith in his services,
and whereas others have disappointed. Tomori's in charge of the situation.
Raphael Liao looks almost back to his best. It's another yellow card forthcoming. Absolutely.
There are only three minutes between Quagliarella's equalizer and Giroud's go-ahead goal.
Tonali with the ball in. Giroud wanted the hat-trick. Ravaglia made the save,
but here's Brahim Diaz. Still there for Milan. Brahim Diaz, Krunic snatched at the shot.
Another chance and another save from Sampdoria. Just ready to make a good save. We can see here
again. Good header, but Ravaglia was ready, and then of course Ibrahimi. Milan go to press
nighting. Brahim Diaz can square it for Giroud, and it wasn't the best ball in truth. Otherwise
that would have surely been the Frenchman's hat-trick. Absolutely, you're right. What a
mistake from Sampdoria defence, but Ibrahim Diaz had the clear idea to go and press it,
take the ball away, but everything was wrong in the pass. Leriz with the early ball,
dealt with by Tomori. This is Teo Hernandez, keen to get Milan moving once more.
Well in by Corey Gunter, Juricic. Time and space for winks. Leriz, Quagliarella again.
He does like this ground. He scored four goals against Milan, all of them at San Siro. Yeah,
good pass from Leriz to Quagliarella, who's trying like he scored the first goal to aim the goal,
but this time he couldn't really kick properly. He kicked the wrong way. Raffaelli out. Ravaglia
stayed at home. That looked like a shove on Zanolli. Instead it's just a corner,
which has been awarded. Stefano Pioli was very quick to tell the assembled media yesterday
afternoon at Milanello that he doesn't want anyone to assess the season until the campaign is at its
conclusion. Seemed to imply the journalists were impatient by saying we've got three games,
what's that, two weeks? Hold your horses and then I'll tell you all my thoughts.
Quagliarella, what a ball that is for Leriz, who should really have hit the target if not scored.
What a great ball for Quagliarella. Something never changed, my friend. Just look what an
unbelievable ball. On that ball was just written, score me, put me behind the net,
but of course his teammates couldn't really make it. Unbelievable chance for Sampdoria.
And looking back at that chance, Lorenzo, was that a shot from Leriz or was he trying to cross it
to Gambiardini? It seemed to be somewhere in between. No, definitely was a shot with inside
foot, but it was completely wrong. I mean, the position, everything was honestly so bad,
but what a chance they had. In Belgium, he was the main man. Here comes with a team
who won everything. Brahim Diaz almost released Salamakis. Now it's Calabria.
Giroud for the hat-trick, straight at the goalkeeper. Almost a hat-trick for his complaint
because he couldn't really put the ball behind the net in every corner, but good try, good try,
good header, not strong enough for the goalkeeper. And I was saying about the Catalan, I still think
he's a decent player, good player, but of course you need to learn as soon as possible how to play
in Italy because in Italy, still not the best league in the world, but it's the most complicated
one tactically-wise. Rincon, Gambiardini. Here's Quagliarella, back for Gambiardini.
Well kept out by Mignon. Salamakis, it's reached Raffaele out. Now Tonali, he can square it for
Brahim Diaz. It's a scintillating Milan goal. One touch, interchange, and it's Brahim Diaz
who rounds it off. Goal against Sampdoria on the opening day of last season. Prepare to stroke it
in. Tonali knew exactly what to do. No danger of him taking it on himself. And Brahim Diaz there,
grabs. Who knows whether that might be one of his final goals in Milan colours. Some uncertainty
surrounding his future. Real Madrid keen perhaps to keep him on board, but well played, Tonali,
and well done Milan. That's pure. Salamakis, Calabria, Brahim Diaz. He's got away from
Curicic. Now it's Raffaele out. Raffaele out with the ball in Giroud. He has got there,
and he has got his hat trick. For the first time in Milan colours, Olivier Giroud will be going home
with that. The match ball, and it is a victory for determination. And they are slowly but surely
banishing those Derby memories. Absolutely, we can see here a lovely ball from Leao in.
The defending is not really the best, because the defender basically is not caring about
the striker, but is it the ball, sorry, just the striker. Milan senior management. Maldini was very
candid about the gulf that exists between Inter and the Rossoneri at the moment. A hard admission
that he had to make on Tuesday night, but does feel that Inter boast better squad depth. He's
slightly responsible for that. Tactic is so complicated. There is two, three players around
you all the time, but I'm sure that he's got the quality to come up and do well in Italy.
Tonali. Salamakas. Now it's de Ketelada, back for Salamakas. Salamakas off target. He claims a
corner, and he gets it to. That is exactly what Lorenzo Amoruso was alluding to there. De Ketelada
making things happen. One touch to control, the other to steer it back into the path of his
compatriot, and it needed a block from Iconomu. Tonali sends in the corner, de Ketelada was
attacking it. Calabria. Can Giroud keep it in? That was acrobatic. I've seen him score like that before.
Pobega. That's a foul there by Iconomu on de Ketelada. Milan free kick. Yeah.
No added time at the end of the first half. Likewise at the end of the second.
Olivier Giroud with his first Milan hat-trick. A standout performer tonight. It was very easy.
