Hey guys, it's Angel. Today I'm going to show you how to make a DIY kumquat fruit tea concentrate.
Now hot kumquat fruit tea is actually a Taiwanese tea shop specialty and since kumquats are
sometimes hard to find, I'm going to show you how to make this into a concentrate so you can use
and store this in the fridge for a few months. Give me a thumbs up if you like kumquats and let's
get started. First we'll need about two dozen kumquats and three to five key limes. Start by
thoroughly washing your fruit and removing any stems that may remain on the top of the kumquats.
Then cut your kumquats in half and remove any seeds along the way.
Do the same with the key limes but this time I like to prepare my limes into thin slices.
Once you're done, set the fruit aside and measure out half a cup of honey and three quarter cups of
organic cane sugar. And if you guys are wondering, splurge on the organic cane sugar if you can.
I much prefer this taste over regular white table sugar.
Next in a pan over medium low heat, add your key limes, kumquats, cane sugar, and honey.
Stir and let everything cook down and simmer for about 10 minutes
until the mixture starts to thicken and caramelize.
Then add half a cup of filtered water and continue to cook and simmer for five more minutes.
When it's done, the kumquats and limes should have a translucent-like appearance.
Then let the mixture cool a bit before carefully transferring to a sterilized glass container for
proper storage. Once the mixture has cooled completely, it will thicken up a bit and you
can cover and store the concentrate in your fridge. Finally, when you're ready to make your
kumquat fruit tea, all you need are a few scoops mixed in with some hot water to taste. I recommend
two to three scoops for every eight to ten ounces of hot water and voila! You'll have
Taiwanese-style hot kumquat fruit tea just as good as they serve in the tea shops.
So that's how easy it is to make this kumquat fruit tea. Now I like to enjoy mine caffeine-free,
but you can always brew some black tea and add some of this concentrate in as well. I'm Angel,
thank you guys so much for watching. Don't forget to give me a thumbs up if you love kumquat fruit
tea and I will see you guys soon. Bye!
