WHAT I BOUGHT & HOW I STYLED IT || VINTAGE & ANTIQUE SHOP WITH ME || 2023

Hi guys and welcome back to my channel. If you are new, welcome. My name is Hannah and on this channel we talk all things home decor, home aesthetics, mixing high and low with new and old and in today's video we are going antique shopping and towards the end of the video I'm going to show you guys what I bought and how I styled it. So if this is something you are interested in watching just keep on watching. So I recently have been getting super into antique shopping and going and trying to find some really cool unique pieces for my space. Now I categorize my home as rustic luxury so I love bringing in that rustic element that would be primitive type pieces but then meshing it with more modern type elements. So when I'm antique shopping I'm trying to find that fine balance of bringing in those kind of cool and older pieces yet I want it to still make sense in my space so I only pick up things here and there while it still flows throughout my home. So I'm going to take you guys shopping. This was filmed over a few days at a few different locations and then towards the end of the video I'm going to showcase what it is that I purchased and how I styled it in my home. So without further ado, let's get into this video. The first stop on my list was the Escondido Antique Mall and this place is really fun. It's very large in size and every booth has something different. Every seller is selling something a little bit different from one another. There was a lot of vintage items, a lot of antique items, and it was really fun to go through this entire spot and try to find some really cool finds. Decorative storage boxes have become such a huge part of home decor trends. I thought this hand carved box would make such a beautiful addition to any coffee table, to any open shelving unit. It's unique and very special. I loved this next lamp until I saw the price tag where it was priced at $420. This was a vintage original from the 1970s and of course it was something that I had to gravitate towards but it was so beautiful. If you have been looking for some beautiful artwork, I think antique shops are the way to go. This one was priced at $55 and it was an original oil painting. Beautiful landscape and then you have this one here with pears. I think this is going to be any mass produced artwork target Hobby Lobby. If you want the real deal, these are some really beautiful options for not that much money. This next hand blown ruffle milk glass bowl reminded me of the ruffle bowls that we see nowadays in marble. This is a really beautiful option as well if you want that look but a little bit different. I came across a primitive washboard very similar to the one that I own and I could not get over what they were asking for this. They had it priced at $85. I purchased mine for $40 so this was double. The next stop was the Brick and Barn. This is a spot that I have featured on my channel before and of course I was accompanied by my daughter Ryder. Now one thing really cool about this spot, it is a physical barn and they will load this barn full of antiques and vintage items and they are open only one weekend out of the month and once that weekend is over, they will replenish the entire barn with new items so every month when you go, it is completely different. The layout is different, the items are different and so it is really fun and cool to come out here every month just to see what they have new. I came across more wooden carved decorative boxes. These were only priced at $12 and $9 a piece. I thought they were so beautiful and so unique. So the second portion of today's video is to just showcase the few items that I picked up while I was on my antique shopping trip. We're going to keep this pretty short and simple but let's start with the first item that I picked up which is this really fun, beautiful jug. Now I kept the tag for the description. This is considered a Inez White Elk Indian signed pottery jug and I paid $24 for this. I love the size of it, it's a rather small size. I thought this would be beautiful on top of some coffee table books or some open shelving. I love the texture, I love the little handle detailing, it's round shaped, little spout and then it's hard to see but it is signed on the bottom by the artist which I thought was really, really cool and special. So this was the first little item I picked up on my antique shopping trip. So this next item I never would have thought to have purchased at an antique shop. I don't know if it was part of this particular booth's display but I ended up snagging them. I bought two of them for $10. These are some really cool stems and they're really realistic looking. You guys will see in my b-rolls, I had a lot of fun styling with them. There is literally no green on them. The green that is on here is very, very muted. Bring these a little bit closer so you guys can see. It's almost got some texture on it but the green is very, very muted. It almost blends in with the branch itself but I love these. They kind of remind me of just like spring is kind of starting, you know the branches are starting to grow, little flowers on them and I thought these were so beautiful to add to my collection of stems as I'm constantly changing my stems here in my home and I got two for $10 so that's the second item I picked up. So these next three items were purchased at a event called The Brick and Barn. It's a spot that I've actually featured here on my channel a while ago and it's a really cool spot. They basically shut down for an entire month and then reload this beautiful barn full of antiques and vintage type items and they are open for one weekend. They basically sell out, restock, start all over again so I found this really fun picture. This was $12. Let me get up close. I might take out the glass because I don't like the glare. Actually, you know what? Let's try this right now. I'm going to take out the glass. Oh, look at how beautiful that is. So there's the artwork. Isn't that beautiful? I love just how delicate this was. I think taking out glass out of artwork is actually really cool. Oh, so much better. Is that not the cutest little thing? I thought this would be so fun layered with other artwork or even on top of coffee table books. I don't know why. I just really gravitated towards this. You can tell it's signed on the bottom and I only purchased this guy for $12 so that was the third item I picked up at the brick and mortar. Now the fourth item I picked up was this really fun chess board and I paid $28 for this. As we know, checker print is really popular right now and I've been having a lot of fun bringing that throughout my home. I will typically pop in one type element within each room that way there is some cohesiveness throughout the space. You don't want to overdo with checkerboard just because it is such a bold print and it can get tiring very quickly. So definitely if you're going to pop this pattern into your home, do it tastefully and very minimally. But I thought this was really fun. This could be used on your backsplash with your cutting boards. This could be something to ground a space maybe on a coffee table or even on some open shelving for some extra added visual interest. But I was loving this $28 and so this was the fourth item I picked up on my trip. All right, the last and final item I picked up while antique shopping is this really beautiful vintage wooden scoop. Now I have seen it be considered a trug. If you know the terminology for this item, will you please sound off in the comments? But as I was doing my research on it, it's either considered a scoop or a trug. This is what it looks like. So you got the divots there as like a scooper. You have the handle. It's fairly good in size, heavy to the touch. It was handmade in India and I love these type items because they're not meant to be perfect. There is wear and tear. They have been in the elements. You can just tell it has a story. It's obviously been somewhere or has been left out and I love that. I think every single one of these is going to be different and that's what I really enjoy when it comes to finding pieces like this. And I thought this would be fun that you can stand upright. But I ended up utilizing this as a way to house my cooking books in my kitchen. So you guys will see that my B rolls really fun, loving how that looks. And so this was the other item I picked up and I paid around $85 for this last item. So yeah, you guys, that is the last item of my shopping trip. All right, guys, and that is it for today's video. I highly recommend doing some antique shopping. At least go and see what you can find. There are so many hidden gems and things like these pieces are going to be different from one another.
