We welcome you to Hollywood and
to Los Angeles it's game one of
three between the San Diego
Padres and the Los Angeles
Dodgers.
Here comes Dustin May getting
his homestead getting this
series started six scoreless
innings against the Padres last
weekend and today looks for his
fourth consecutive win.
Lifts his ball to center field
where Trace Thompson is he's
caught off by Mookie Betts for
the first out of the night on a
three to pitch Cronenworth
cracks one in the ground to
first.
He's a play Freddie Freeman to
two up and two down this first
inning Padres are twenty fifth
in the majors and run score
three or fewer runs in half
their games two down for Manny
Machado kicks and fires one two
and strikes out Machado to the
knees with a breaking ball to
finish off a one two three
first Blake's now on the mound
tonight for the Friars making
his eighth start in search of
his third consecutive quality
start.
Only one hit last time against
this club.
See if you can find that groove
early tonight.
Left hander winds and deals hot
shot but it's right at Manny
Machado.
You don't want to hit it over
there.
Manny fields it flips it over
easily over to first base and
Mookie Betts is retired for the
first out here in the bottom of
the first one out walk to
Freddie Freeman here in the
bottom of the first inning and
that'll bring up a catcher for
the Dodgers Will Smith to right
but right at Tatis who is there
to make the catch Bill to catch
by for out number two first two
down and the two to two Martina
grounded back to Snell who
fields and flips the first base
for the out that'll end the
inning done with one from Los
Angeles without a score.
If it's near the zone he's not
just going to focus on maybe
what could be his strikes if
they're legitimate strikes he's
going to go to Hackett and it's
been paying off.
It's been fun to watch.
He leads it off here in the
second inning in a scoreless
contest Dustin May back on the
Hill.
Bounces one right side May tries
to cut off and can't instead is
on the other end of a three one
put out the giraffe gets over
there and he needed the length
at the end.
Not a lot of times you see
Freddie Freeman have to stretch
towards right field Dustin his
momentum is taking him to right
field and the glove has to reach
back.
He uses every limb to get that
out.
The one from May is shot to
second.
There's Vargas two up two down
and five up five down.
Let's go over pay off and
strikes him out.
He's got a couple one two three
innings punctuating with
strikeouts in both.
Blake Snell's first pitch to
Chris Taylor is swung on it's a
line drive heading over towards
left field it's going to go in
for a base hit.
Juan Soto is racing over he'll
dig it out of the corner but not
before Taylor round second with
an easy lead off double to get
things going for the Dodgers
here in the bottom of the second
inning one out Taylor at third
infield in for the Padres and
it brings up Miguel Vargas and a
swing and a miss he struck him
out.
Miguel Vargas his strikeout
number one for Blake Snell two
down.
You and a grounder back to
Blake Snell he will flip the
first works his way around a
leadoff double by Chris Taylor
scoreless through to no score to
the third inning back at Dodger
Stadium and as promised Clayton
Kershaw joins us.
Hi Clayton.
Hey what's up guys.
Dustin May going back to work
here.
Hassan Kim leads off.
Oh that's so nice.
Quick pitch out.
Love that.
So you'll be with us another
half inning because of that
quick out.
Yeah.
But yeah if it goes fast I'll
do it.
He may.
He looks really good tonight.
And that's a change up.
Kyle nasty too.
Yeah.
Swing and a miss two away very
quickly.
You know in certain situations
that was a quick inning guys so
fast.
Ninety five save your answer.
All right I'll come back.
Yeah.
Talk to you in a sec.
And Brett Solomon the catcher is
going out to try to settle down
the veteran Snell on the mound
visit back to back walks to open
this inning against Snell and
it'll bring up Freddie Freeman
Freeman to right center field
and that'll start the story.
It might be three Thompson in
Betts on his heels Freeman will
settle in with a two run double
and the Dodgers are on the board
first.
In some ways it's a quiet
consistent professionalism from
this whole Dodger team but
especially guys like Freddie
Freeman Mookie Betts first and
third.
Nobody out.
Martinez grounded back to the
mound in the first inning 0 4 1
his second look tonight at Blake
Snell.
No need to throw a strike here.
That is strike three and
Martinez strikes out as the
second strikeout for Snell.
Boy did he need that one down.
And it's sharply hit the shorts
up to be to the second for one
on the first.
It is in time they turn the BP
one out ten in a row retired by
May to start the night.
Here is Jay Cronenworth and
liner here in the left field a
base hit opposite field for Jay
Cronenworth and the first
baseman to reach for the Padres
comes with one out in the fourth
inning and it's Jay Cronenworth
now one on for Manny who struck
out looking in the first inning
bounces this one to second four
six three it was for his four in
there somewhere he got it out
six three four dot dot dot dot
yeah right on Soto to lead it
off against Dustin May lined in
the right center field that'll
get through to the track and the
wall Soto headed for second base
and he says Trace Thompson gets
it back in into the two doubles
yesterday for Soto and he's got
a double here to lead off the
fifth innings and a Bogart so
for one in this game in San
Diego is a grounder to short
Rojas will go to first and get
the out of Bogart's and Soto is
able to take third base Soto a
third base with one out
Carpenter struck out swinging in
the second inning.
High fly ball to left field
Soto's going back to tag up
Taylor studies under it moving
to his left makes the grab.
Here comes the throw Soto throws
on the brakes as Chris Taylor
throws a bullet home.
Doesn't matter where you put
him.
He's got a third baseman's arm a
shortstop's arm a left fielder's
arm center fielder's arm.
She's got a good arm Hassan
grounded up a third base back in
the third inning lead off double
for Soto Bogart's moves him to
third Carpenter flies out to
left not deep enough.
Kim will be tasked with getting
the two out knock to drive Soto
in here.
Chopper to short Rojas has it
fires across in time and Dustin
May pitches around the lead off
double.
He's got five scoreless and
eleven scoreless against the
Padres over the last week
messing with a team that hits a
lot of home runs.
And this guy before he went on
the I.L. was leading the
National League in extra base
hits.
Sharply hitting through and
Martinez as his first hit off
the injured list Smith running
in hard takes third and they've
got him cornered with two away.
Dodgers trying to do two outs
here.
Two out team in the National
League this year on the ground
softly up towards third.
Machado's throw will be in time
and that will end the Dodgers
strand a pyramid of a two
nothing lead after five.
Just trust in his stuff.
He's been mixing the off speed
stuff in this guy on the mound.
Dustin May.
I mean they're not even blinking
right now.
Pitch counts in order.
His career high is finishing
seven innings.
He's got a chance to get through
seven under that eighty four
roundouts one to second one to
short for Xander who tonight is
the D.H. lines this one to
center field.
Good contact back goes Thompson
is going to be up over his head
one off the wall.
Is Thompson getting it back in
quickly to throw to second base
and it's a double for Xander
Bogarts to a double and that was
a line drive that went screaming
over the head of Trace Thompson.
That is ball for and taking
third base was Bogarts Xander
takes off for third the walk to
Carpenter is now 90 feet away
with two down and a pinch runner
at first base for Carpenter
Rugnet.
Odor is going to pinch run right
now.
He's got first and third with two
down and here is Hassan Cam
Bogart's third Odor pinch
running across the diamond at
first.
Kim lines it down the left field
line towards the corner.
That's going to be one high and
score the throw for Hassan Kim
and it's two to two in L.A.
Hold all tickets challenging.
That's a photo finish right
there.
I got to say I think that's the
best angle there.
Yeah really good slide after
review.
The call on the field is
confirmed.
The runner is safe.
Los Angeles.
And here's Betts the movie just
three for his last twenty five
Cox's ball left center field.
Goodbye Dodgers back in front
his second huge home run against
the Padres over the last week.
Hader's fastball night turn
around Tim Hill's funk Freeman
one for two.
Superstar after superstar home
run after home run and it's four
to L.A.
Machado coming up here with one
out runners at first and third
Phillips fires one one Machado
grounds it to short Rojas to
second one Vargas to first
Phillips comes on and puts out
the fire.
And so Kim who tied the game
with a two run double in the
seventh inning at the plate
representing the tying run.
Evan Phillips what a finish to
this game for the righty.
The Dodgers take the opener from
the Padres four to two.
