A special night at Coffman Stadium as number six is back in the house tonight.
He officially calls it quits in front of a place he still calls home.
Set the tone Brady Singer.
Now he's had a few rough outings.
He's way better than his ERA show on the eight point four nine.
All he's got to do is just command his pitches and he can do that.
And Ruiz standing in against the tall right hander and he tries to check the swing.
The pitch runs in and hits off of him.
And he will be awarded first base I believe.
Yes he will.
Mark Kotze was appearing as though he wanted to challenge something.
OK.
So after all this Ruiz is going back to home plate.
Yes.
Called strike three.
Singer waiting patiently out there to strike him out.
Shot to right.
Dozier battles the sun.
And he's got it.
Inning over.
A clean first for Singer.
And now the Royals to the plate.
On to the bottom of the first inning and Ken Waldachuk will start things off against Bobby
Wood Jr.
That's a swung on a miss.
He got him.
So Witt strikes out.
It's quickly 0-2 on Edward Olivares.
Here's the 0-2.
Got him swinging.
A couple of strikeouts for Ken Waldachuk.
Ball four.
Back to back.
Two out walks.
And up comes Michael Garcia.
Garcia to right center field.
Into the gap.
And Garcia comes through.
And the Royals are up 1-0.
What he was looking for.
Strike three called.
Good pitch.
Got him on the fastball.
So three strikeouts in the inning.
They do get a run though.
On one hit.
Two walks.
And two left.
1-0 Royals after one.
The day.
Four for his first 11.
It's two for three with a couple of walks.
Actually with one walk last night.
3-2.
That's it.
On the right center field gap.
It's going to fall in for a base hit.
And cutting it off for gets the wall is Jackie Bradley Jr.
It's a double for Bladet.
So his first double this year.
In the big leagues.
And he's now five for his first 12.
That's not close.
That's ball four.
That's going to load him up.
And an opportunity for Kevin Smith.
He struck him out.
He hit the outside corner.
He struck out looking in the first inning.
He thought he was hit on a 3-2 pitch.
Instead they ruled a foul ball.
Swung on ground ball.
Right side.
Reaching forward is Massey.
He can't get it.
It sneaks through.
And the A's will get two runs with Bladet and Langelier's home.
Esther Uri Ruiz delivers yet again.
Shooting one through the right side is 15th and 16th RBI's.
And it is 2-1 athletics.
The runners will be on the move.
And the 3-2 pitch is swung on.
Hunter Dozier leads off the bottom of the second inning.
He reached in all four times he came to play yesterday.
And he's got another walk to start his night.
One on, one out for the number nine hitter, Jackie Bradley Jr.
The one pitch.
Didn't mean to do it on a breaking ball.
Little tap off the mound.
And crumbling the ball is the pitcher, Waldachuk.
So here's a great chance for the Royals to even it right back up.
The pitch popped up on the infield on the right side.
Noda coming in.
Right near the line into foul territory.
Makes a one-handed catch.
And that is that.
So Waldachuk survives the E-3.
He survives the walk.
He strands two.
Here's Bladet.
They doubled and scored in the second.
He's five for his first 12.
Hit down the right field on hooking in the corner.
And it is gone.
A home run for Bladet.
And the A's lead 3-1.
Just inside that right field foul pole.
Stay hot.
Six for 13 now.
Rolling the pole.
It's J.J.
Bladet, baby.
Learn about him.
The A's lead 3-1.
Bottom of the third inning.
Vinny Pasquantino will lead off.
Oh, is he fun to watch out there?
So Laureano robs Pasquantino of extra bases as Ramone strikes again.
So one out.
And now Salvador Perez.
The pitch.
Salve swings and grounds it up the middle and into center field.
Bladet gets it back to the infield and Salve has a one-out single.
And he draws the walk.
That's right.
It's not your pitch.
Let the next guy do it.
Dozier, he's due.
And as he swings and pops it up, that's a big out as Kemp waiting for it.
And the inning's over.
Nice job.
No runs, no hits, no errors.
Just two left, that is.
3-1 Athletics.
Now Ryan Noda, he's been plunked a couple of times.
Here's the pitch.
That's Smogad.
Driving to deep right field.
Going back.
Dozier just looks up and it's off the wall.
Into third base goes Smith.
They're going to wave him home.
Here comes the relay.
In the throat of the plate.
And Smith on the slide.
He's safe.
And going over to third base is Noda and the A's lead 4-1.
So Smith kind of turning on the burners around third as he scores on the double from Noda.
And he moves to third on the throw.
That's the 10th RBI for Ryan.
And here's Brent Rooker.
The 1-1 pitch.
That's driven to center field.
Bradley Jr.
Long way to go.
It's over his head.
It's going to one-up the wall.
In to score is Noda.
It's going to be a double for Rooker in the A's lead 5-1.
So Rooker picks up his fourth double of the year and that's his 26th RBI.
Freddie fouled out to third in the second inning.
He is batting eighth.
Here's the one strike pitch.
Swung on.
Hit in the air.
Left field.
Deep.
Back goes Rooker.
He's at the wall.
He turns.
And splash.
In to the water.
Looked like he got a changeup up and in and he got on top of it.
He hit it so high.
It didn't look like a home run right away but it was apparent that it was going to be
deep.
Here's Bobby Wood Jr. with a runner at second.
A Bobby blast.
Deep left center.
The Eagles are down by just one.
Homers for his sixth time this year.
That's tied for the most on the team with Vinny Pasquantino and Salvador Perez.
The runner goes and they have him picked off.
Noda will throw to the shortstop Kevin Smith who applies the tag and he's out.
That goes one to three to six.
See if Taylor can get Kemp to roll over on one.
Hokes it to center.
JBJ flashed the glove and they got the force.
Like he was going to catch the ball.
He put his glove up even knowing that if the ball was going to fall short he couldn't get
to it.
And that froze Langeleers.
Kemp takes off.
Swing and a miss.
Strike three.
And Taylor faces only three in his outing tonight.
He didn't want to give him anything good to hit.
A righty.
And that ball coming in is a little bit easier to hit.
He sees JBJ on deck now.
He's going to be pulled off for a pinch hitter and MJ Melendez.
0-2.
Check swing.
Did he go on the slider?
He did.
And that is that.
Lovelady gets the job done.
And the inning is over.
No runs.
No hits.
No errors.
And the Royals strand three.
3-1.
That miss is way outside ball four.
Inside him.
He didn't need that.
All right.
Mike Kael.
Big opportunity here.
The Royals have stranded 11 tonight.
The pitch.
Check swing.
Roll over to first.
Back headed.
Nicely by Noda.
What a slick play by the A's.
Rookie first baseman.
He gets to the bag.
Retires Garcia.
And the Royals strand two more.
That's an unlucky 13 for Kansas City.
Zach Jackson.
The spin doctor.
Got to come in and dial up the swing and miss.
ZJ more than happy to accommodate.
One for two out of the early save opportunities he's had.
Potential tying run at second.
Potential winning run at first.
And Bobby Witt Jr. comes to the plate.
Nick Allen.
And the A's have won two in a row.
A's have won a couple straight.
They win this series.
Great win for Oakland.
They're going to challenge it.
What do you think?
I thought they got him.
After review, the call is confirmed.
The runner is out.
Yes, indeed.
So the A's win it by a final score of five to four.
Great win for the club.
