In this video, we will be following the construction process of a DIY home project. Our aim is to create a sturdy and safe structure that can withstand harsh weather conditions. To minimize swaying, we have combined the columns in a crosswise pattern using bolts and cut them straight for a flush finish. We also measured the flatness between two columns to ensure a level base.

Since the region experiences heavy snowfall, we have connected all of the column systems diagonally. We applied Wood Protective Impregnation to prevent insect infestations and strengthen the column system.

We will also be adding stairs for easy access to high places and laying a 7-meter by 7-meter plank for the ground part of the house. The plank will be 15 cm wide on all sides and laid at 75 cm intervals to ensure a sturdy floor.

To strengthen the interior of the house, we fixed the columns at 175 cm intervals and created a strong diagonal system in the corners. We will be continuing with the roof part of the project in the next section.

Join us as we follow the step-by-step process of building a DIY home and learn useful tips and tricks along the way.

In general, the foundation system of a building or structure plays a crucial role in its stability and ability to resist lateral forces such as wind or earthquakes. One common approach to reducing lateral movement is to use a system of shear walls or bracing that provide resistance to these forces. Another approach is to increase the size or depth of the foundation itself to improve its ability to resist lateral loads.

Combining columns in a crosswise fashion, as you suggest, may be one way to increase the stability of a foundation system. This can potentially create a more rigid structure that is less prone to swaying or lateral movement. However, the specific design of such a system would depend on a number of factors, including the size and shape of the building, the type of soil and ground conditions, and the local building codes and regulations.

It's worth noting that foundation design is a complex and specialized field, and it's important to work with a qualified structural engineer or other professional to ensure that your foundation system is safe and meets all applicable standards and codes.
