Happy Mondayyyy! Today's video features Five Key Pieces you COULD start your Luxury Collection with. These are by no means something I think everyone needs but if you are thinking of making a first designer purchase then any one of these are great and could get you started.
Sorry the video is a little late - internet issues yesterday left me with an upload time of four hours!!

Hi everyone, welcome back to my channel.
So today I'm going to be talking you through five pieces
that you could purchase to start off
your luxury collection.
And of course I wanted to start off by saying
that no one needs luxury goods,
but if you are looking to invest in something,
maybe something small or something a little bit larger
as one of your first designer pieces,
then hopefully you will find this video useful.
I definitely would have found this video very useful
when I first started to get into buying luxury pieces.
And I wish that these kinds of videos
had been around then.
I actually found this video through Chase Amy
and I think my friend Tamara
has also done a video like this as well.
And so I will link both of those below
because I think their recommendations
are going to be a little bit different
and I feel like their opinions could really help you too.
So I'm gonna link those in the info box below,
but I hope you guys enjoyed this video.
Please give a thumbs up if you did
and leave me like some clothes and shopping emojis
in the comments below because you know, I love an emoji.
So to start off, I'm going to be talking you through
one of the things that really got me into luxury pieces.
And this was like my entry level buy.
And of course it is sunglasses.
Those of you who watch my videos regularly
will know that I am obsessed with sunglasses.
So here I have my most recent purchase
and I thought I'd mention these
because it's kind of come full circle.
I got them from the same place
that I got my first ever pair of designer sunglasses.
I buy them at the airport and that is because you get,
I think it's the VAT off of them.
So I think it's VAT, correct me if I'm wrong.
I probably am.
You do get a little bit of money off
and it definitely makes the luxury investment
feel a little bit less,
what is the word for this feeling?
It basically just takes the edge off of that sting
you get when you hand over your card.
But yeah, these are my most recent purchase.
These are the Dior Reflected sunglasses.
They're very similar to the So Real,
but I think they're called Reflected
or something like that.
It says Dior Reflected on the little arm.
And I love these because I just feel like gold is such a,
it feels like an autumn and winter colour,
but it also feels like a summer colour as well.
I always think gold and silver transcend seasons really well
and that is something that I would definitely recommend
thinking about when you're making your first
luxury purchase is a purchase that will be able to be worn
all year round and I think luxury accessories
are really great for that because there are lots of things
that you can just wear all year round
and you really do get your money's worth.
And for me, sunglasses are just that.
I know a lot of people say that you don't wear sunglasses
in the winter, but I do.
I know a lot of people do,
especially if you drive, stuff like that.
They are really important.
For me, I'm just not very good with sunlight all year round,
so they are really important for me.
There's still sunshine in the winter
and the sun is very low,
so for me, they're just like an essential.
The next item is Small Leather Good.
I think that these are a really nice way
to ease yourself into the luxury market.
They're not too expensive.
They can be kind of expensive
depending on the brand that you go for.
So if you go for like Louis Vuitton or Chanel,
they are definitely more expensive,
but there are brands like McQueen and stuff like that.
And those ones are a little bit less bank-raking.
So there's definitely a range.
And this YSL one I have is a nice mid-range kind of one.
This was actually a gift that I got for my birthday.
I do think these make really lovely gifts
if you're looking to spend a bit more on someone,
but I actually was going to buy this myself as well.
It was definitely something
that I was happy to spend the money on
because my card holders do fall apart.
I use card holders every single day
and they fall apart after a couple of months.
And my friend Alex bought this for me
because she is always kind of a little bit repulsed
by the look of my card holders
and how disgusting they get after a few months.
So she bought me a nice one in grainy leather,
which would stand the test of time.
And I would definitely say if you're investing in a bag
or a small leather good,
that grainy leather is so much better
for actually making sure that it lasts
and stands the test of time
because it's just a little bit more durable.
Again, I think these make a really nice first purchase.
And generally you will use these on a daily basis.
So I feel like they're a bit of a worthwhile investment.
My next recommendation would be a belt.
And for me, I wear these kind of regularly,
but not every day.
So they're not my go-to for a luxury purchase straight away.
Like they would never be my first.
And as with card holders and wallets and things like that,
belts are great because they're not too expensive.
I mean, there's a range, some can be really expensive,
but some can be kind of a hundred pounds or less.
So they're a great item if you are just looking to invest,
but you don't have a ton of money.
So if you're looking to spend a little bit less money,
belts are a great way to invest in a brand that you love,
but not be totally bank breaking.
For me, my new favourite,
and I think this is the first luxury belt I've purchased.
This is the Gucci Marmont belt,
but it's in the canvas with the red stripe.
And I really love this because it's kind of like
iconic Gucci colouring,
but you still get the effect at the front of the belt
as you would with the all black belt, if that makes sense.
So from the front, you can only see the black colouring.
And then from the back, you can see the red.
So you can kind of cover it up
if you're not into showing the red.
I'm purchasing this with the canvas back.
Actually made this a little bit less expensive as well.
And I wasn't looking to spend a ridiculous amount
of money on a belt.
So this was kind of like a nice in-between option.
It allowed me to get the Gucci Marmont belt.
Again, it also just took the edge off of that purchase
and made it a little bit more bearable for me.
So belts are definitely something
that I would look into investing in,
especially if you wear them daily.
I feel like they're so worth the money
because they do last a little bit longer.
So next I actually wanted to talk about evening wear.
And this is one of those things
that's kind of dependent on how much you go out
or how many formal events you attend.
If you're more of a casual kind of gal or guy,
then this is something
that I wouldn't really worry about so much.
But if you do go to a lot of events or parties,
then I think that this could be
a really worthwhile investment,
especially for like if you get
that perfect little black dress.
I definitely think that something like that
is worth spending a little bit more on.
For me, I don't have a little black dress right here,
but I do have a brand that I want to talk about
for evening and occasion wear.
And that is Self Portrait.
They are definitely more on the entry level side of things.
You can buy them on ASOS, I think Net-A-Porter,
Louisa V. Aroma, so many different websites.
I actually own quite a few dresses from this brand.
And for me, it's because the quality of them
and the fit is just so, so wonderful.
And for the price,
I don't feel like they're too expensive as well.
There are a few ways which I get money off as well,
which I will be talking to you about in an upcoming video.
So stay tuned for that.
But until then, I'm gonna keep it a secret
because otherwise you will never watch that video.
But this one is actually one that I purchased recently.
And it is just the most beautiful
kind of grazy lilac dress.
And although it's not a little black dress,
it is just one of those perfect
kind of evening cocktail dresses.
Would you class this as a cocktail dress?
Hey Vic.
I also wanted to talk about self-portrait jumpsuits
if you are not a dressy kind of girl.
And I feel like these are sometimes
a little bit more worthwhile investing in
because this one, I feel like I can kind of wear
to those in-betweeny events that aren't super, super formal.
And they still feel really nice and put together.
And it's just such a lovely piece,
but I don't feel overdressed.
Like if I'm not sure how dressy people are going to an event,
I would generally wear this
because it's that perfect in-between
where it can look very formal
and kind of tailored,
but it can also be dressed down a little bit.
And it's just the most gorgeous lacy jumpsuit.
And it's so comfortable as well.
I just absolutely love this.
I actually had this taken up
because it was very, very long.
So it fits me perfectly now.
And it was such a worthwhile thing
investing and having it taken up
because now it just fits my shape perfectly.
Those two are definitely some of the categories
that I would recommend
if you're looking to start off luxury pieces,
but you don't want a small leather good or an accessory.
If you actually want a piece,
then I would recommend Self Portrait
because I just think the quality is so good
and they have a little bit of something for everyone.
And finally, I wanted to talk about shoes or bags,
because I know that there are a lot of people
that are either a bag person or a shoe person.
I personally, I'm a bag person.
So this category is a little bit difficult for me,
but I went with boots on this occasion
because I feel like boots are those one thing
that you buy every single winter.
And by the next winter, they are completely worn down
and you end up buying a new pair all of the time.
And I feel like they're the one kind of shoe
that I would recommend investing in.
For me, heels, sandals, everything else,
they are not something that I wear regularly.
And I also feel like with shoes, they go on the ground.
You generally don't put your bags on the ground
or your other luxury pieces on the ground,
but you put your shoes on the ground.
So for me, it's something I've always felt a bit weird
about spending a lot of money on.
But for me with boots, I wear them in the winter.
I also can wear them in the spring and summer
with like denim shorts and I think they look amazing.
And the ones I would recommend are the Acne Jensen boots,
which are these ones here.
And these I would recommend
because they are a little bit more affordable,
say than the Chloe boots that I own.
Those retail for around 800 pounds.
They can be 800 pounds plus,
which is very, very expensive for a pair of shoes.
But these are more around the 200, 300 pound mark,
which I think is definitely a little bit less heavy.
And for me, these are just a lovely pair of boots.
They have worn so well.
There are barely any marks on the heel
from where I walk a bit wonky.
And I always think that that's a sign of a good shoe.
I will have them resold at some point,
but for now they're fine.
And the reason I chose those over recommending a bag
is because I don't actually own any designer bags
that I would recommend as a first purchase necessarily.
There aren't really any entry level bags that I own.
The one that I did buy as my first designer bag,
actually I wouldn't recommend.
It was an Aspinal bag and it just wasn't the best quality.
And I just don't feel like the style was right.
But I definitely do think that there are some bags
that I have borrowed off of friends
and just used randomly for like a day or an afternoon.
I think that there are definitely some great ones out there.
So you have like the YSL Blogger bag,
which is a really great little bag.
And the Gucci Disco bag, I think it is.
I'll pop little photos of them here.
And then there's also like the Philip Lim Pashley bag,
I think it's called.
And that is a really nice big one.
And that's something I've been looking at buying
for a really long time because it can fit a laptop in
and it's just a great size and it's quite durable
and it's really hard to scratch
because it has more of a grained material.
So those are my five recommendations
for kind of luxury collection starters
if you're looking to make your very first purchase.
I really hope you've enjoyed this video
and you found it helpful.
