It really comes down to me who's
going to win round three.
This has been like a heavyweight
fight where Ohtani won game one.
Aaron Judge was the factor in
game two.
But it seems to be it's all
about their star players.
Aaron Judge against Ohtani.
We'll see who wins round three.
Nestor Cortez be his fourth
start on the year to win.
He's up to a really good start.
A couple of homers and a couple
of walks and 15 punches in 17
and third inning.
Beautiful day in the Bronx.
Taylor Ward is ready.
Nestor Cortez is ready.
Let's do it.
Strike three called as he nailed
the outside corner with a
fastball at ninety one to be
able to throw the ball in the
outside corner.
That's an ability.
Here's Ohtani reaches it and
pops up.
Who's going to get it.
Cortez with the basket catch.
Rizzo didn't get there.
Trevino didn't get there.
Cortez did.
Here's Trout.
Pitches grounded right back to
Cortez who flips diverse to end
the inning.
Terrific inning for Cortez.
He is a joy.
He is a delight.
There's Patrick Sandoval is off
to an excellent start this year.
Yeah his fastball through a lot
better fastball last time out.
He's been getting up there.
Ninety four ninety five.
We know how good his slider and
his change up and curveball is.
Volpe has reached in 13 of his
last twenty nine play appearances
over his last seven games and he
walks another walk for Volpe.
Here's Aaron Judge grounded up
the middle it's a base hit for
Judge Volpe around second.
He's going to go to third
easily throw comes into second.
It's a single for Judge.
So first and third no one up.
And here's Rizzo.
How long is it in the center
field.
It's a base hit in front of
Trout Volpe scores.
Judge advances to second.
It's an RBI single for Anthony
Rizzo and the Yankees leave one
nothing.
Anthony Rizzo does.
He is such a good run producer.
You really got to stay in there
as a lefty to cover this pitch
off speed pitch away and afford
to give up much against Nestor
Cortez and expect to have a
chance to win this game.
Laboratorious Lodge at Rendon
with a great catch.
Couldn't quite get that ball in
a glove.
He's looking to quick transfer
to double him up but he was just
having to be able to make that
play that ball was hit hard.
So here is LeMahieu and he has
not had a hit in the series ball
for to load the bases.
That'll bring up Peraza.
He's getting his reps now with
Volpe playing shortstop.
Looks like he's going to be here
a while.
He's got some opportunity to
play second base and third base
and he walks in a run Peraza
with patience gets a Rivi Judd
scores.
It's to nothing.
Yankees bases remain loaded.
Pass the baton.
Here's Oswaldo Cabrera and he
punches him out on the inside
corner two away.
Sandoval waiting there kind of a
late call.
Cody here is Jose Trevino
Trevino eight for thirty seven a
home of four RBI and oh for five
lifetime against Sandoval
driven into left field and deep
going back is Ward.
He's going to play out the base
of the wall to clear the bases.
A three run double for Trevino
and the Yankees with a five spot
here in the first inning where
these are the kind of hits the
Yankees have not got in the last
couple of weeks just to take
advantage of a big opportunity.
Huge double the big first inning
for the Yankees.
Here's a ninth batter kind of
Vallejo.
This is lifted to left center
field hit pretty well.
Taylor Ward is over with Trout
and it's Trout making the catch.
The payoff is high ball for is
not something that is the fourth
walk given up by Sandoval.
Here's Judge Judge swings and
tips into the glove of Hoppe for
strike three.
So Sandoval it's a strikeout of
Aaron Judge.
Here's Taylor Ward with two on
your opportunity to get right
back in the game.
Now top of the order here to on
fly ball center field kind of
Falefa came in now makes the
catch and throws the third as
Ranjito advances.
So he went back and then came in
and made the play.
Battery show Hey Ohtani popped
out to Cortez the pitcher his
first time up to to hit on the
ground a second and the throw to
first ends the inning.
Now the Angels got the first two
base runners on against Cortez
top of the fourth five nothing
Yanks.
Angels don't have a hit yet
against Nestor Cortez.
He's thrown fifty six pitches so
far swung on and hit in the air
to center field kind of Falefa
racing in dives and made the
catch.
I made a great catch.
I know that was a base hit a
little fly ball to center.
He raced it and just made the
grab before it hit the grab.
Leading things off for the
Angels is Brandon Drury a
bouncer from Drury down the
line.
Tough play long throw by LeMahieu
and it's not in time.
The Angels have their first hit
to an infield single for Brandon
Drury.
That was real close.
What a play that was by LeMahieu
got a lot on that throw like he
beat it though.
Back to back hits to start the
fifth inning against Nestor
Cortez.
Matter now is O'Hoppy O'Hoppy
rips one toward left field and
that's a base hit trapped by the
left fielder Cabrera coming home
Drury the throw at the plate not
in time.
Close play.
But Cabrera really fired one
home after trapping that ball
and left Drury had to wait to
make sure it was a base hit and
he just barely scores ahead of
that great throw.
But O'Hoppy gets an RBI and the
Angels are on the board Ward
then Ohtani then Trout.
It can really boil up quickly
with the way the Angels lineup
is stacked up.
The bottom of the order has come
through here swings at the next
one and hits it well into
centerfield.
Tyner Filippen dives and he
makes another great catch.
Wow tagging and coming in and
scoring on that one will be
Renhefo.
But man Tyner Filippen between
him and the judge out there in
centerfield they have been
making some plays.
So here's Shohei two outs
runner at first Ohtani goes
after the first pitch grounded
right to second it's fielded by
Peralta.
He will throw out Ohtani for the
second time today and that will
end the inning.
Yankees here have a five to lead
on top of the six with two outs.
Now there is a two to breaking
ball strike three beautiful
backdoor breaking ball seven
strikeouts for Nestle two walks
two strikeouts for both in this
game except judge.
So it's a two to count now and
judge with a runner at second
and there's a swing and a miss
at a slider that was elevated
and he went after it struck him
out a pair of strikeouts for
Davidson in the inning.
Renhefo is on.
He has a leadoff walk at last
pitch from Mr. Cortez number
ninety four of the day and Aaron
Boone now has that slow walk out
to the mound.
So Hoppe will face the Yankee
reliever Logan O'Hoppe with a
base hit down the left field
line on the first pitch thrown
by Ron Marinochio Renhefo is
flying around the bases he's
being waved home the relay throw
coming to the plate way too late
Renhefo scores from first O'Hoppe
he's driven in another run and
the Angels are only down by two.
Now the tying and go ahead runs
on board a brand new game here
real soon if Anthony Rendon
comes through with a base hit.
High five ball left in the
seventh now got an opportunity
first and second nobody out.
Strangely LeMahieu his first two
years here was among the major
league leaders with runners in
scoring position three eighty
four since twenty twenty one
though it's two forty three in
these situations line drive in
a base hit down the Rizzo will
score easily moving to third is
Torres it's an RBI double for
LeMahieu and it's six three
Yankees.
So bases loaded two up.
So here is kind of a breaking
ball line.
There's a base hit centerfield a
run scores Gleyber.
Here's LeMahieu.
He scores it's a two run base
hit for a kind of Falafel and
the Yankees have blown it open.
They have an eight three lead
Yankees have the bases loaded.
Here's Peraza line drive left
centerfield that's up for us.
Everyone else moves up.
It's an RBI single for Peraza
two ribbies on the day and it's
nine three Yanks Logan O'Hoppy
begins the top of the nine two
RBI is for O'Hoppy it's been a
nice trip for him at Yankee
Stadium and O'Hoppy wins the
battle of Long Islanders but his
shoulder kind of gave out on him
again as he swung.
We've seen that a couple of
times now on this road trip.
He gets his third hit of the
game but that shoulder is
causing him some problems and
something the angels are going
to have to get straightened out
here because that's happened
twice now on this trip.
He seems to be anguishing as he
heads back to the dugout and
hopefully the angels can get
this figured out for him.
He's been a big part of this
ballclub here at the beginning
of the season.
So Logan O'Hoppy leaves the game
here in favor of a pinch runner.
So there are two outs and that
will bring up the top of the
order and Taylor Ward struck him
out swinging ball game over.
Yankees win the Yankees win.
