(Bundesliga 2022/2023): Highlights Freiburg - Bayern München

Sadio Mane's return one of four changes as Thomas Tuchel's Bayern sought to avenge their midweek cup exit at the hands of Christian Streich's Freiburg. This was first versus fourth on Bundesliga Super Saturday and from the off Bayern clearly meant business. On nine minutes Serge Gnabry playing as the centre forward was denied by goalkeeper Mark Flecken superbly. And nine minutes later Thomas Müller's superb pass fed Mane. But Mane's 161 day wait for a club goal goes on and on. The Senegalese only a whisker wide though with this chance. Against the play Freiburg with perhaps the half's best chance just before the break. Ritsu Doan a post away from a second Freiburg smash and grab on Bayern in the space of only four days. Bayern survived the scare goalless at the break. Six minutes into the second half and Bayern finally took a chance in spectacular fashion. Centre back Matthijs de Ligt. Pure venom in the strike. His third of the Bundesliga season. This the pick of his personal bunch. Goalkeeper Jan Zommer a virtual second half spectator until the clock hits 70 minutes. Well then Shalloy's deflected shot and this even for Zommer a save which was something quite special. Amazing reflexes. Missed chance is the story of Bayern's afternoon. Into added time a second goal remained elusive. Gnabry's run and shot. The ball coming back off the inside of Flecken's post. Back-to-back Bundesliga wins for Tuchel and revenge for Bayern's midweek cup exit. A dish served four days cold.
