What causes Blackheads?
Blackheads are a mild form of acne which usually form on our face.
Now, there are pores on the surface of our skin. They are basically an opening for the hair follicles.
A hair follicle consists of a hair and an oil or sebaceous gland.
This gland basically helps keep our skin lubricated and prevents drying.
Sometimes the pores of our skin become plugged with dead skin cells and with oil from the sebaceous gland.
They produce a bump which is called a comedo. Now, if the skin over the bump remains closed then the bump is called a whitehead.
But if the skin over the bump opens, the dead skin cells in the open pore react with the oxygen in the air and turn black. Thus forming a blackhead.
