The Chicago White Sox have a bunch of new food offerings at Guaranteed Rate Field, from the Belgian Banger to the Champagne of Dogs. Here's a look at what's available as the Sox prepare for their home opener against the Giants.
Let's get right out to a live look at Guaranteed Rate Field and that's where they're getting ready for this afternoon's home opener.
Food and drink a big part of this day here at the ballpark. From the staples like hot dogs to craft beer, there will be something for everyone.
And Jen DeSalvo is live out there. And Jen, I must admit, this is the report that we have been waiting for.
What is on the menu?
Well, I mean, first, my favorite ballpark to come to in Chicago, not just for the team, might be down here because of the fact that all of the food is so fantastic.
Yeah, I'm a Southsider. Born and raised. I'm a fan. And Jenny's been here for a while. Jenny Krebs is the chef.
Jenny, this is your 13th opening day and you have some new food here. This is why we come down here. Well, some of us, some of us to eat.
Tell us what we're looking at.
All right, right here in the front. We have a few stands where we do loaded fries. Everyone loves fries topped with anything you can.
So this year we did a new one with hot honey, which is definitely on trend. So we have crispy popcorn chicken fried up, tossed in some hot honey sauce and served over French fries.
And we're looking at some delicious hot dogs, but there's not your typical Chicago style on top of these. We're seeing a couple of really interesting bacon and the purple. What's the purple? Are those onions?
That is a red slaw, cabbage slaw. So these two items were created exclusively for our two brand new items. I'm sorry, our brand two brand new locations up on the 500 level.
The Blue Moon balcony is going to feature the Belgian banger right here, which is a half pound spicy Polish topped with a sweet orange caramelized onion, red cabbage slaw and crispy bacon.
And then in the new Miller High Life lounge, we are featuring another half pound footlong Vienna beef link that is topped with champagne.
Get it, Vidalia relish and some truffle habanero mustard.
You sound so delicious. And I've been trying to eat these, but nobody will let me because we need to have them on TV today.
But if you want to get food, you don't have to leave your seat to get up and order. Tell me a little bit about the mobile ordering.
Yes. So for those that would like to stay in their seat, maybe avoid the rush of the concourse.
You can order classics through your phone, through the MLB ballpark app items such as hot dogs, popcorn, of course, and beer, water pop.
Thank you so much for your time today.
And I learned also that, you know, we love getting food and helmets in the helmets this year.
We will be able to get more food. The nachos are there.
And we also have some new chicken tenders.
So that's so much more.
We're with you all morning from the south side.
I'm Jen DeSalvo back to you in the studio.
Oh, Jen, that looks so good.
I don't blame you for trying to dig in.
Maybe after the show.
What's the life?
Yes, I'm getting grumpy hungry.
So they better let me dig into these soon.
Almost there.
Hang in there.
Thanks so much, Jen.
