Hey guys, today's the day.
I've been, well, we've all been keeping
a little bit of a secret,
because we weren't sure,
we weren't sure if we should tell people,
because we weren't sure if we were for sure gonna do it.
And then we decided we're going through with it.
Right?
Yeah, let's get everybody down here.
Alyssa!
Brock, hurry, come down here.
Here we go.
Trainee, you're sitting so good.
She wanted to be included in the video.
Yeah.
You're just sitting so good.
She doesn't really contribute much, though.
Welcome to the Mikesell family vlog.
So today we wanted to make an announcement,
and it's an announcement that I literally thought
we would never, in a million years, ever say.
Is that, like, pretty accurate?
So I'm going to start with how this decision
and all this came about.
So last December, right?
Yeah.
We decided to go visit our friends, Brad and Holly.
They live in Nashville, and so we just went.
What?
So we went to go visit them.
They had just bought a house,
and we're like, oh, we wanted to go.
That was like our first outing, really, since the accident.
And we just had so much fun while we were there.
And then on the way home, we were just like,
oh my gosh, I can't believe I loved it there so much.
And both of us have this weird gut feeling
like we should move there.
Came home, we told everyone about it.
We told everyone how much we loved it.
And it's funny, because Angie, my business partner,
she picked up on that right away, right?
She's like, you've never acted like you loved a place
more than Nashville.
I'm like, really?
That's so weird.
Anyways, I kept talking about it for weeks.
And then Holly called, and she's like,
Betsy, Opryland Hotel will do a deal with us.
Do you want to bring your kids?
We did this last, we did a little winter vacation
with them the year before when we went to Oklahoma.
And so we're like, oh my gosh, for sure,
that will be so fun.
So Alyssa was actually supposed to come.
And then Dallin found out he was coming home
from his mission, so she's like,
I can't miss him coming home.
Which, obviously, I agree.
I don't blame her at all.
But we were sad because she didn't come.
Anyways, so we go, and everyone,
didn't you guys think it was so fun there?
It was awesome, yeah.
We liked Opryland.
Yeah, I loved everything.
Yeah, then we stayed a night, no, two nights
at Holly and Brad's house.
They loved the neighborhood.
They loved everything about it.
The kids down, all the neighbors.
The neighbors were so nice.
Yeah, they had so much fun.
We got together with some of the people
in Brad and Holly's neighborhood
for cookies and dessert.
And you guys had friends right away, right?
Yeah.
And anyways, thank you.
Yeah, we did.
No, we did.
We knew one of the families before, two families before.
And then that's how they kind of introduced us to each other.
We've been texting each other and like, yeah.
So anyway, so on the flight home again,
Gentry and I are both talking.
And we're like, again, we're like,
why do we feel like we should be in Nashville?
Like, that is not something that would work, number one.
We have Betty's here, which is my company.
We have Moxie here, which is Gentry's company.
There's no reason or way we could move, right?
And so I was talking to Angie a little bit more
and just telling her more about it.
She's like, Betsy, I think you're
going to end up moving there.
And so then that's when we, oh, no, no, no.
This is what happened.
So we outgrew our new warehouse.
And we'd just done an addition this last summer.
And so then we had a company do, what's it called,
like an analysis?
On where the best place to have another shipping facility.
Guess where it is, guys?
Nashville, Tennessee.
So anyways, I'm like, no way.
So I told Greg and Angie, I'm like, let's go.
Let's look for a place.
And so while we were out there, they
were supposed to send us places for the different warehouses.
Long story short, we didn't get to see any warehouses.
But what?
We found a.
We ended up buying a house.
It's already being built right now.
So we didn't pick anything out.
It won't be done for a few months.
But we thought the housing market in Utah
was crazy right now.
But the housing market in Nashville is really crazy.
And it's funny how this house just kind of came up.
Because in the area that we really like,
houses just go, like, the second they're up, they're gone.
And we were like, let's just do it.
And so we did it.
And then we got the house.
And then found out later that two other couples
had come back to do the same thing to get that house.
So it's just kind of funny how things worked out.
We don't know what the drive is exactly
and why we need to be there.
But we feel like we need to be there.
And we can.
And we can do it.
And we'll fly back and forth.
That's one thing that we learned this last summer with COVID
was we worked from home a lot.
We did a lot of Zoom meetings.
So work changed for us.
And then after the plane crashed,
I didn't go into the office for two months.
And Gentry didn't go into the office for, what,
four or five months?
Yeah.
And we had hired people that just
knew how to take care of things for us.
And so we feel like we're at a good place with our companies
that we can come fly back in.
So we'll keep our house here.
And travel back and forth.
But our main will mainly be in Tennessee.
And the boys, they'll be flying back a lot, too.
They've got obligations here and things like that.
And friends, of course.
But they are.
Are you guys going to enroll?
Oh, Caitlyn still has her job.
That was the first thing we said.
We're like, oh, Caitlyn, you'll just probably
travel back there a little bit.
And we'll travel up here a lot.
Or we can just convince her to move here.
But I need Caitlyn here with me, because I'm not moving.
Yeah, unless you're not moving.
Wait, I thought she was going to.
What?
You guys are just leaving me.
Yeah.
It's like, you're out of the house.
See ya.
It's been real.
Yeah.
Tell why you're not moving.
Because you want to stay here so you can date Ellen.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah, I have my boyfriend here.
I'm like, hello.
I have my boyfriend here, so I didn't want to leave him.
And so she's going to stay here.
He'll travel back and forth and visit, too.
In fact, you guys are coming with us to Nashville.
When are we going next?
A couple weeks?
Yep.
And so she'll be able to experience it.
And we'll also bring Dallin along.
I mean, when you go to Nashville, you just love it.
And then the boys, what do you guys
think about starting a new school?
You actually haven't even been in high school.
Yeah, we haven't even been in high school yet.
So it'll be a whole new experience.
Yeah, because this year is supposed
to be their first year of high school.
And they ended up doing online school after the plane crash.
Yeah.
Hopefully, you guys still know how to socialize.
I know.
We just turn mute.
We like go in class.
Yeah, I have to be quiet all the time.
No, but we'll try to make friends.
I'm excited.
Yeah, it'll be great.
So that is the plan.
Oh, and then one last thing before we go.
A lot of the reason why I want to go to Nashville
is just so I can help Betsy pursue her dream of becoming
a country music star.
I'm going to insert a video of Betsy
singing when she was younger.
I was actually at this concert.
It was a Young Ambassadors concert at the university,
BYU.
But anyway.
So I'm going to.
Ginger thinks he's a comedian.
So anyway, you guys, thanks for watching.
Wish us luck on the move.
And if you know anything in Nashville
to do that's fun or that we really need to check out,
leave it in the comments below so we can make that happen.
Like and subscribe.
Bye.
Where?
We're literally going to have to redo it.
OK, let's redo it.
Do you swear?
Yeah, did you not hit it again?
So Alyssa didn't hit the record button on there.
Yeah.
Can everybody get back in?
We have to record a whole entire video
because Alyssa didn't do it.
Just make sure you hit that record button next time, OK?
Alyssa.
OK.
You didn't say swear.
Here, sit.
Yeah, do you swear?
I never swear.
You're lying.
Alyssa.
You did swear.
I'm like, oh my.
It's too easy.
If we had to redo it, it's too hard.
Yeah, but there's no way I'd do it.
Yeah, Alyssa, no.
With yours, but I'm not going to make it till I face this fact.
This is not about trying time.
This is not about where I'll be down the line.
It's just from moment to moment, surviving somehow.
This is not about then.
This is just about now.
Say hello to all.
Make it at all.
This is not about trying time.
This is not about where I'll be down the line.
It's just from moment to moment.
This is not about then.
This is just about now.
It's just from moment to moment, surviving somehow.
This is not about then.
This is just about now.
Just about now.
